1. If the K140 works, I'd appreciate it.
2. So what did you do with it?
3. The 2226 is a classic - a genuine, no-nonsense, high quality speaker. It was considered to be the most advanced 15" driver in the 1990s, was used by many of the big names in the PA business, and is still sought after by pro PA specialists today. The JBL has always been too expensive for use in bass guitar cabs, but that does not mean it won't work. I agree with Alex that it needs a midrange driver, but so ideally does every other 15" speaker. In pro PA systems it is normally used up to 300/400 Hz but JBL used it in systems up to 1k and it has an on-axis response flat to 2k, which is good enough for those who don't bother with a tweeter. Strictly speaking, 600W AES is not quite the same as 600W rms, but I wouldn't worry too much about the difference. It has a 4" coil, good cooling, and will handle lots of power. It was designed to be used in a reflex cab and JBL provides design info if you want to look for it. 100 litres is about right. If you prefer not to roll your own you could commandeer a Trace 1153, an ABM 15" cab (even better) and many more, and just replace the OEM driver. I wish I had your kind of luck
4. I've got a Classic 450 and would be very interested in this if you weren't in Belgium. How do you envisage doing the swap?
5. Yes, I've been looking too. And for a Musicman surround. I'd be interested to learn of an inexpensive source.
6.
For this version only, there is a 2 bar drum count on the mp3, as the tempo is quite swift.
You're not kidding. How anybody can read that fast is beyond me.
7. Thanks for the offer, but I was just really interested in a trade.
8. How much cash would we be talking about if swapping a Classic 450?
9. I can't comment on those ones but I have fitted the Hipshots and agree that lightweight is the way to go, as it makes for a better balanced bass.
10. It's OK - I found a couple posted by some nice people on the interweb.
11. Does anyone have a transcription or a midi file?
12. I have a shallow Gator case in decent condition and would like to swap it for a 4u size. I don't mind adding a bit of cash to the deal. I don't want the full depth one and it has to be a moulded plastic case and not an aluminium flight case. This is swap only - I'm not selling. Anyone looking to downsize?
13. I wish people would stop recommending WinISD on here. It's a tool, but like any tool, unless you know what you're trying to achieve with it, it will give you a false sense of security. I don't need WinISD to tell me that the box size is much too big and the drivers are useless for bass guitar. I'm not surprised it sounds rubbish. Sell the drivers and get some proper ones. Sorry if that's not what you want to hear. Incidentally, I doubt very much if your drivers have an xmax of 10mm because they are midrange drivers, which don't need a large xmax.
14.
Well im looking at getting some 12" Bass drivers and there are alot on the market. I was hoping that people could give their opinions and experiences on the differnet ones availbale on the market I havent been able to find any comparisons anywhere. Im kinda looking at Celestian Neo green labels or Eminence Delta or Deltalites.. whats the general consensis?
You need to be a bit more specific about your needs. Otherwise it's a bit like asking people what car they recommend.
15.
Agreed, but the Tubetone adds something more than distortion....I dont know how....its pretty cool but yeah its like tube grind basically!
Yes, I can appreciate what it does, and it's well executed. But valves only add second harmonic distortion - they don't add any other magical ingredient, no matter what toob fans would like to believe. [edit] They also add compression, but that's already sorted on this amp.
16. Tubetone is distortion and Tweetertone is a treble control. You have to look through the bullshit a little bit. Thoroughly enjoying my 450 Classic. The compressor is superb and the 'bloom' (dare I say muddiness) of my Trace Elliot has disappeared.
17.
Go into his profile, the comments left doesnt suggest your correct on this, not my place either but dont think you should be mud slinging in a persons advert.
Plus, there is no mention of a power lead in the ad. It may be usual to include one, but unless you were assured there was one, I don't see that there is any cause for complaint. I mean ... the amp was only 25 quid.
18.
The Me 15-200 is exactly that a 15" 200W speaker Qts 0.59, Vas 224 l,Qes 0.67 fs 46Hz if you want the T/S parameters. It was probably made in the early 1990's
Or the 1980s. The current equivalent is the Beta 15. If someone sold me an Ashdown ABM cab and I found out they had installed one of those, I'd be mightlily pissed off and would want my money back. I'd expect to find that kind of driver in a Behringer bass cab.
19. If memory serves, High Heeled Sneakers is itself a worthless and totally derivitive song - just another reworking of a standard 12-bar blues. If I could be bothered, I bet I could find half a dozen earlier works that are indistinguishable. I wonder how much that lawyer's letter cost. Still, I find it quite wonderful that little Tommy Tucker is threatening to sue you! You'll be able to tell that story to your grandchildren.
20. That would seem to be a logical and even-handed solution that any reasonable party (ahemmm) ought to agree to.
21.
For what it's worth, I hate threads like this, see my reply to the Bassdirect trial last night.
If you don't mind my saying so, you're not helping. Try to stick to the issue in hand and don't get personal. Humour is not covered by these remarks, of course - just make sure you're funny.
22.
geester, im right in thinking you got the amp in soundcontrol.... your reciept with have the serial number on it....
So why would Sound Control sell a 110V amp? [Edit] I think the problem amp was bought from Guitar Guitar in Birmingham. If it was a 110V unit, I would expect the receipt to state this.
23.
So, if I get it right, Geester works for Mossad.
Jeez, that was funny!
