1.
From what I've seen and heard of John Entwistle he had all his basses out in various rooms, not stuck up in the loft. What a load of old tripe! Also, what a crap set of photo's. No full shots of the bass at all.
There's a scroll function next to the ones you can see. Though even the logo looks fake - not much sign of the gold around the Fender which IIRC was quite wide in that era.
 2. We could all make a post in a Harry Hill type "FIGHT!" thread ........... then see who gets battered (or +'d) the most in a "reputation battle"? Not that I'm trying to prove it's a silly idea or anything
 3.
You never forget your first.
Wasn't that the catch-line for Guinness?
 4.
Great, now someone has 'Negged' my post #5. Working well already this, don't you think? Not likely to have any effect on what people post or anything, is it? If it's going to be like evilBay's feedback system where one is in constant fear of being negged by idiots then I'm out.
This!!! So not only am I saying "+ a big one" - but I'm doing a ^ so as to balance up the -. Not only is it wide open to abuse & sometimes (as I've been often told) the mods aren't always around to read every post of every thread. It also appears to be an overall "dumbing down" of the forum.
 5.
Easyjet and a couple of days off! Business and pleasure.
^ This. Did it with a Telecaster in a Fender case a few years ago - worked out way cheaper than any courier. Course that was when it was worth the hassle of flying RyanAir.
 6. A Hiwatt 200 will knock out around 350 on full tilt - and yes they are solid heavy b*ggers! Only witnessed a Hiwatt 400 once & it took two of us to put it on top of a TE stack. Get one while you're young if you're going to! Don't get one of the MG ones, & expect to pay around £1200 for a good vintage one (A 200 that is) - If you look for a vintage 400 you may well still be looking when you're too old to lift it.
 7.
OP here - Yes the avatar is a Washburn Bootsy Collins Space Bass.
V nice! I do like a unique looking guitar/bass.
 8. many thanks! Yeah - I like it - and it has an almost unique sound.
 9.
I'm not the OP, but its a Bootsy signature i think. Liam
Cheers, I was starting to think in that direction when I saw the JB content in the other thread. Maybe the OP's name shoudla given me a hint!
 10. My fave band & fave music changes quite often; but the mainstay band in my life is or was Slade. Their celebrated live album was Slade Alive which was recorded on the same night as the TOTP show they did with their first number one in '71; therefore in Nod's words "they were on fire that night". Slade do Loving Spoonful PS. To the OP - what the hell is that bass in your avatar????
 11.
I am getting to the point where I'm thinking of quitting the gig scene. I know there's a reccession on, but where is everyone on a Friday and Saturday night? Even the one's that do turn up can't even be bothered to clap at the the end of each song. We always give 110% and expect a small ripple of applause at least, but every time... nothing. My daughter was out in a pub with a four piece playing and the same occured there. Don't people show appreciation any more these days or are there so many bands around that we're just human jukeboxes? I know it's not the be all and end all, but it's nice to get some feedback to let you know you're doing it right!
When you say you give 110% do mean in your playing or the evening as a whole?? How much interaction with the punters do you have?? If it's just a case of "This next song is ............. originally done by ............" before every song then you will be just a juke-box. If you have some banter before & during then you'll either get the crowd with you, or be able to guage whether the crowd want to be with you - or just want to be left to the boozing & talking with their mates.
 12.
What did the switch do?
Put 200 volts thru' the audience's seats?
 13. I agree with "just get the bugger told". You don't have to explode about it - but having known the others for a long while & being 45 years old you should be able to do it. Just bide your time until the next outburst & say to him "Not everything in life is a competition you know!". Preferably when the others are there & they should back you up - but not to the extent that the bloke feels isolated & flounces.
 14. They're quite often just tapped in; the fluted sides are supposed to hold them, but if the front of the semi is plywood (likely) it'll break easily & lose the grip. I'd be inclined towards something like Araldite for that, the turning of the stud when it shouldn't have could well have removed some of the wood that's holding the stud, so you'll need a thick glue to replace it.
 15.
Tempting but I'm not a gambler & can't afford to loose £102, although I'm thinking if you use a credit card through Paypal, how much protection would you get?
I only learn last week that the credit card protection scheme is invalid if using it on Paypal (It was a complaint on the Money section in last Sat's Grauniad). The credit card co's stance being that Paypal was the agent in buying, not them.
 16.
http://www.cashconve...ss-effects-unit Dirty Thieving Scum.. the above is my pedalboard AND on visiting the store, there sat on a shelf was my amp. so I am a happy bunny now. I have my stuff back! Police are arresting the kid who brought the stuff in today.
This shoudl be linked into "Daily Awesomeness"
 17. Drooled after Jimmy Lea's bass since the first gig I saw it at. After a nasty divorce & a fair bit of saving I traced John Birch who had semi-retired & he built this for me. He called me on a Sunday afternnon to tell me it was almost ready, two days later he was found dead in his kitchen. This is the last ever John Birch custom which he personally worked on.
 18.
Anyone who goes there not expecting this is very naive . That Dingwall looks awesome in that colour, I like it.
Well thanks for that; I did a casual search for their website, hmm, not really any names that I usually look at .......... aha! second-hand - click! I don't generally give Fenders a second look - but that Aerodyne Now I have to sell a kidney BEFORE the run-up to Christmas!!!
 19. While not following his career outside of the Bowie connection I've always thought Trevor Bolder's basslines amazing, especially on Aladdinn Sane.
 20.
I used to play bass in a band with her son, she's a great player (this clip doesn't really show her bass skills very well) and she has the nicest all original 57 p bass I have ever played! If I could buy any bass it would probably be that one!
She had a long article in G&B magazine a couple of months ago. That bass was her dad's & he gave it to her when she left the "Osmonds" type family group they had going to go pro. She still has it. Meanwhile for comparison; the bass-playing skills of two of her contemporaries............ & Steve priest of Sweet with an insane Rick tone thru a stack of Hiwatts. 21. is that a metal frame on the bridge pickup? It looks like that in all your pics, not like the black standard one??
 22. For me - being a bit about Fenders it would have to be a Gibson EB3, which for me were at their best in that year - and who played them in 1968?? Though the one JB is playing isn't a '68.
 23. Drove my Mum daft when I first played "My Sharona" .............. for about 2 hours , while - in her words - "She held the plates down on the shelves in the kitchen below my room". Though I'd have to nominate, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wx3AE02ac-w even though it follows the vocal - as did Janis Joplins original - though that was on the guitar IIRC - rather than bass.
 24. I bought the Haynes for the Tele guitar, while it's an interesting read it's already been inferred that any Fender is such a basic guitar that most jobs you'd do on one should be common sense to any player of a few years. I sent mine to the 17 year old son of a friend who's not long bought his first Tele; with the disclaimer that if he starts taking it to bits it's not my fault.
 25.

That bridge pickup is so far out of position you need a calendar to measure it!!!!
