Meinl "Headliner" Cajon - with carrying case and tutorial book / CDs. It has adjustable snare wires and is pretty much as new. I liked the idea of the cajon but never really got on with it. Cash on collection from SE London only.

Musician. One of the instruments I play is the bass guitar. I will often refer to it as a "bass", but that's just shorthand for bass guitar.

Did this ever get sorted? I've been worried..... -
I'm guessing 68 is actually Louis Armstrong plays W.C. Handy. Don't see the point myself - if you want the music, get the CDs - way better audio quality. This just looks like an exercise in faux-nostalgia to me.
I'm a bit surprised; I had always though that one had to 'be there' to 'get it'.
..but remembering being there means that one really didn't get it at all -
Not exactly the same situation, but similar in some ways: when playing for morris, we not infrequently find ourselves having to supply an extra 8 bars (or cut some out) when the dancers screw up. It's all part of the fun and keeps you on your toes as a musician.

Would a Korg X50 be a possibilty?Looks like you could attach a strap to the end handle bits - might be a bit heavy. Or there's always http://www.rolandus.com/products/fr-3x/

Pekko Käppi, Antti Paalanen and the Esko Järvelä Epic Male Band at the Tavastia club in Helsinki at the end of March. Antti Paalanen and the Esko Järvelä Epic Male Band were fabulous at the Kihaus festival last year, but seeing Pekko Käppi will be a new experience for me.
No, north of the river and east. But strangely I do live a stone's throw from Brockley, in Forest Hill...
...that's why I thought it might have been the same place. -
I went for an audition last week which turned out to be at a small terraced house in a densely-populated urban area. The rehearsal room was a large shed at the bottom of a short garden. There was some rudimentary soundproofing. The band have been playing there weekly for about a year and have yet to receive a single complaint. I will say it's a country band... might well be a different story were it any flavour of rock band. So you could be OK.
hmmm sounds familiar- wouldn't be in Brockley by any chance? The band I was in a few years ago rented a rehearsal space a few times that sounds a lot like this... -
... in an elitist manor...
That'd be Earbrass Towers then. We're not really that elitist - I believe one of the footmen went to a "comprehensive" school - imagine!
On a serious note surely the OP can edit the thread title to omit the capitals as I suspect that gives the title some life?
Yeah, he could change the title to "The last person posting in this thread is a big girl's blouse" - that'd shut 'em up....errmmm...oh bugger, I didn't really think this through, did I? PS what is a cookie anyway? -
Well, one of the biggest musical events of all time will be taking place in a couple of months. It involves the greatest musicians in the world at the moment, and is being put together my Paul Mcartney, Mick Jagger, Elton John and one or two others along the way. It will rival anything else that has been staged in music history, and will generate millions in revenue on the day of, and in the aftermath of the event. It will be a 'tribute' to one of, if not the greatest musical genius of the last 50 years. All those fortunate enough to be a part of this event will not play any of there own material, yet this ' tribute ' event could rival some of the biggest televised events of all time. To get a ticket for this show, will be little short of a miracle, and you will undoubtedly be in the company of a cast of superstars, just grateful to be audience members....
I don't have a problem with tribute bands in general (though I'd never go to see one myself), but I have to say, that does sound utterly ghastly.
What?... you only think you don't like them because you weren't there when buns first hit the scene, you couldn't possibly understand...
...well of course up to then, we'd only had bread rolls - often as not stale. You got the odd shop here and there that would try to fancy them up with a bit of dried fruit, but when the buns came in, well it just blew our minds. You cannot imagine the impact that had on a youth starved of innovative baked goods. I remember it was someone's older brother who first got some sent down from up north. We'd all go over to his place and just breathe in the smell. It was intoxicating. Then, of course you got the bun-bars opening up. All the hip kids used to hang out there. My mum was terrified of me going and getting mixed up with the wrong crowd - I mean there was a certain level of violence associated with that scene - the famous "bun fights" and what have you, but to be honest the papers blew it up out of all proportion. We'll not see the like of that again, though. I mean, I hear kids today going on about how buns are "boring" and old-hat, and how they'd rather have a full-butter croissant or a danish pastry, but they just don't realize that without the buns, well, none of that stuff would ever have existed. It's just ignorance really, and lack of respect. You can't tell them, though..they just don't get it.

Is there such a thing as anti-gas (I suppose that might be anti-matter in a gaseous state)? I keep looking round at all the stuff cluttering up the place that I never use and really should get rid of, but putting it up for sale seems like a big effort considering none of it is worth very much.

"An astrological object (a star) has been named Lemmy to meet the IUPAC naming recommendations" Yeah, that's going to impress the scientists. Embarrassing.
Plugs are fine but the bar staff aren't wearing them and neither are most of the audience.
This.
Pretty soon, IMO, legislation will come where noise levels are regulated.
I'd like to think so, but I'm not holding my breath,

Had a small mid-life crisis in 2015, which took the comparatively benign form of taking up a new instrument and starting to learn a new foreign language. My number one musical aspiration for 2016 is therefore to get my nyckelharpa playing to a point where I feel comfortable performing with it in public. Number two is to find or form an ensemble in which I can play it. I've had an initial jam with a friend who has recently acquired a set of German smallpipes (he already plays the big noisy Scottish ones - we're not going there!), and have another friend lined up to play hand-drum(s) / percussion. Not sure how that will pan out, but if we can get together often enough to get some momentum going, it could be fun. Repertoire will likely be a mixture of medieval music and English and Nordic folk tunes,
So, you don't like any genre or any kind of music? The reason I ask is, if you don't like Motown or Stax you probably don't like any R&B, funk or soul music, right?
So if someone doesn't like heavy rock / metal / prog, or R&B / funk / soul, that must mean they don't like any kind of music, cos that's all there is?
Everyone doesn't have the ability to appreciate and understand multiple genres.
Ah, of course. If someone doesn't share your tastes, it must be down to their lack of ability to appreciate and understand. I think we've been here before....

Väsen on Monday. Bit scary as I've only been playing a few months, but really looking forward to it.
