1. I'd be tempted to try to check the nitro...
2. Looks aside, and price aside, I have found Foderas to be somewhat inconsistent - I've played several that I thought were awful instruments at any price level (dead sounding, terrible feeling necks). I have also tried a couple which were incredible. I've found others like Sadowsky, Marleaux or Dingwall to be consistently good basses even if they weren't what I wanted. But hey, everyone's different.
3. Nice work! Did you completely strip the neck before applying nitro?
4.
Good for metal...
A brushed aluminium pickguard and headstock facing would finish the look...
5. I'd be a sucker for tobacco burst too - I said that to Sheldon myself.
6. There are a few people on this forum looking for one of these, worth doing a search.
7.
So is this the longer scale version ?
Combustions are all long scale (34-37" for 5 string).
8. Just to clarify - I didn't buy it, it wasn't up for sale. I went to see it out of curiosity, but ended up really liking it. I went again today and had the chance to chat with Sheldon for a full half hour. I brought up the headstock and he was very aware that it polarised opinion, but also said that many of Dingwall's design decisions have done in the past, and people tend to get used to things over time... I'm kind of inclined to agree, (although I still think the MM Bongo is one of the ugliest things I've ever seen). The headstock does look very beautiful in person, and because of its shorter length (and the rear strap), the bass balances quite beautifully on a strap. I for one really like it, I think it has that signature Dingwall vibe with a nod to the original.
9. Saw (and heard) Paul Turner play his all white five-string tonight during the post-London Bass Guitar Show jam, through a Jules Monique. He always sounds good, and tonight his tone sounded phenomenal.
10. Went to the London Bass Guitar Show today, left poorer and richer at the same time. Whaddya think?
11. Here ya go, Dazed http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/sale-event/6962
12.
Google is your friend.... https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=p+bass+gold+anodized+pickguard&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjeg_Tm_7rLAhXCXRoKHUN6A0YQsAQIOw&biw=1600&bih=752 G.
Those are all Precisions
13.
I'm a huge Dingwall fan but am not enormously taken with the look of it. I might like it more if I see someone playing it, though. I bet it sounds amazing, though.
Same - I'm looking forward to trying it, though.
14.
Will a Mono Vertigo fit, definitely not I'm afraid. That's the main reason I'm selling up, on the last job I was on I met a bassist who flew his two basses out in a Mono double bag in a flightcase trunk sort of case. I've got a Harvest gig bag and a Warwick leather bag too, so similar concept, I've got a pair of Hiscoxs anyway and the flight case the Infinity came with, so this is a bit surplus!
Ah I was thinking it could be good for that - cheers for clarifying.
15. Thanks for sharing the photo. Still looks pretty nice to me, reminds me of some of the really old double basses. Does it have decent acoustic volume and resonance?
16.
I picked one up a couple of weeks ago. First time I've owned a short-scale bass, or a hollow-body. The overall length of the whole instrument is the same as a normal 34" bass, but the scale is shorter since the bridge is some way into the body. Switched the strings to D'Addario Chromes. By the way, despite the 30.3" scale, it takes normal 34" strings due to the distance between bridge and tailpiece. Doesn't weigh much: 3.0 kg. Haven't played it out yet (first chance to is over the next few days), but so far at home it seems to have a nice, deep tone but while still remaining tight - not boomy.
Looks nice! Which model is it, and how do you find the finish?
17. It's not a great market for sellers at the minute - it's always a bit quiet after Christmas for a while as people have often overspent over the period. This is a very fair price for this bass, in fact even though I've bought too many basses of late, the only thing holding me back is the colour which just isn't "me". I guess it's up to each seller how quickly they want to sell their wares, I had to price mine fairly keenly to get them to sell recently.
18. If you change the thread title, the mods will lock it for you.
19. Just wondering if anyone has tried one yet. I'm considering their smaller-bodied hollowbody guitar from the same range, but they have a couple of interesting short-scale (30") basses too. http://m.guitarguitar.co.uk/Product/151218291668002
20. I really didn't like the TB10 when I tried it, FWIW.
21. There are a few teasers on the Dingwall FB page
