1. I don't know about the B2, but I have the B2.1u that comes with pedal and usb connection to computer. I often use it to record to computer via Audacity softwear. It is pretty handy for what it does.

How do!

Yeah those normal guitars always wreck your wrists. Hope you have learned your lesson and never chance to pick up one again.
3. Trying to learn a few Theatre of Hate bass lines. Have to do it old style, learning straight from the track, as there are no tabs or notation anywhere for this band. Damn shame they were possibly the biggest influence on my picking up a bass (along with many other people I am sure) Stan Stammers was and is a most excellent bassist. Just sat in my room and accidentally learned the melody that Kirk sings on one of the tracks instead of the bass line ( I was doing it from memory, as I couldn't be bothered finding the song on my computer. Well that's my excuse )
4.
I used to live in Pulford and spent far to much time in the Grosvenor , but have gigged down the road in the Nags Head a few times , like the others have said, throw up some dates ,I would love to come along for a Jam
Yeah I know the Grosvenor Arms well too. My brother had his wedding do there, along with a few other pals over the years. Nice place on a summers evening when you can sit outside near the river. A decent 9 hole golf course across the road too.
5. I made a nut from aluminium and it does have a definite difference when sounding an open note.
6.
HI Jamie, let me know when you playing some public gig in North Wales, I'd love to come down and annoy you a little bit Cheers Kris
me too
7.

LOL
8. I'd go spare too, if I had a stuck pixel. No ? I'll get me coat then
9.
There is another side to this - all those shops (that we bemoan are fast disappearing) that have to hold stock and allow us grimy musicians in to play their instruments for us to then turn around and say "this is ex-demo" or "yes I like this but can I have a boxed one" or worst of all, "yes, I like this but I'll buy it from GAK/Thomann/A.N.Other". Instruments are not like TV's, fridges etc, they are all that bit different and we should be going in to shops to try out and find the one we like best. The fact that the scratchplate covering is marked is the whole point the covering is on there in the first place! Ex music shop owner rant over !
Some good points made here. We cant have it both ways. I'd rather be able to play a bass, decide i liked it, and buy that very one. Knowing it had been hanging up in the shop. As long as I examined it closely and was happy with it. Its better to have one you have played and liked, rather than one new out of a box. If it has the odd scratch, who cares? Just negotiate a discount or some spare strings, strap etc. Yes the shop should have cleaned it first. But if they were upfront about 90% of what they sell has been hanging in the shop, then you only have to call them on sending you the instrument in an un polished state, and without the usual accompanying extras.
10. Well the first album was an absolute classic 'first album' if you know what i mean. Loved it, but definitely no bass parts at all. The rest of Oasis albums were awful. Stopped liking them after Noel started his anthem writing phase. IE: When the second album came out, and Wonderwall and all that bollocks. . I just couldn't get past wanting to hack Liam Gallagher into little pieces. Nobody laughed longer than me when Liam and his boys started a fight that time in a Russian nightclub and got the living crap beaten out of them, after teasing some guys who they thought were just some idiots, the 'idiots' threw drinks over them and Liam's mob then attacked them. Only to be dragged back and pummeled into oblivion by the bodyguards of the Russian mobsters who they had unknowingly started a fight with. I remember seeing pictures of them with bloated faces, black eyes and no teeth. Trying to hide under hats. Liam had to be flown home for emergency dental surgery. Noels new band seem OK, and Noel seems a decent bloke now he is not having to constantly stick up for his brain dead hanger on brother, and his stupid childish antics. Liam would be in living in a nappy stinking Burnham council flat with a white legged slapper (when he wast in prison) Without his brother Noel. Ah I feel better now I have got that out. In conclusion. Oasis. = Terrible band, classic first album, no bass on it to speak of. The rest of the Oasis catalogue sucks. ps: Noel says that with Oasis, the thing he hated most about the first album, was this. Every time Oasis released a new album people would say to him. "Whats it like? Is it as good as Definitely Maybe ?" Inferring that no matter how many albums he's done, nothing was ever as good as the first one.
11.
+1, particularly the 'can my mate have a go on your bass?' scenario. (No, feck off out of it).
I know! Would anyone go up to a tuba player or a violinist after a concert and ask to have 'a go' on the instrument? What is it they makes people (with or without alcohol) think that its ok to ask this. I remember once many decades ago at one of my few proper gigs. A guy we knew came up to us as we were finishing the encore and asked for a go at singing. The singer looked at us with a mischievous grin and handed over the mike. He knew we would have to go along with it, as the would be singer had a reputation for being a bit of a loon, although we all got on fine with him. We wanted to keep it that way. So we started playing 'Louie Louie' (what else?) Well it went on and on and he showed no sign of giving up. So after 15 minutes or so the guitarist can stand no more of the catawailing. He unplugs his guitar and walks quickly away. A few minutes later, our new 'singer' took a swig of the constant companion pint that he was clutching all through this. I took my chance and legged it.! By the time the cabs were registering a loud 'POP' I was safely in the much thinned 'crowd'. So. There was the drummer and the singer carrying on alone. Guitarist and me bought pints and watched gleefully the extremely pissed off drummer and his accompanist. After a further few minutes the drummer just smashed the sticks down and storms off. Singer just carries on oblivious for several minutes. Fortunately a coughing fit made the crowd think it had finished and he got a huge ironic round of applause. His face lights up at this as he realized it was for him. He announces "our next number will be Smoke on the water." He turns around to confirm this with 'his' band, who were all by now standing in front of the stage. ( I say stage, it was in fact just 10 or 12 inches higher than the floor) Our own singer was also now starting to regret causing it in the first place, by handing over his very expensive German mike After several stunned seconds of finding himself alone, he looks rather puzzled and disappointed and says. 'Maybe next time' He stumbles off the stage towards us and says "Thanks for the chance lads" and to our vocalist "It's OK, don't be jealous. I wasn't trying to take your gig man. Im starting me own band"
12. Put a tick in your diary, i-Phone, Free view hard drive box, Virgin box, or whatever you view TV with. For Friday 21 Dec at 9.50pm for an hour of Slade excellence from the BBC archives. After that finishes, its straight into another 1970's treat in the form of the Slade movie 'Slade in Flame'
13. Cheers Scott. thats exactly what i always wanted to do. When a bass teacher i saw for a while asked me what i wanted to accomplish on her bass. Thats more or less what i said . "Hear something then play it" (or a reason able attempt at it) by ear. I have always greatly admired those who can do that. Be interested to see any more vids on this area. ps: funnily enough, now i think of it. The bass teacher told me to sing the notes as I played them too
14. While playing the rhythm as well as the melody (in places) can work well if done properly it does not work here. As Bubinga says, its just too busy, and as Luke says the bass (or the effect) sounds pretty awfull, so he's on to a loser from the off. I dont like crtitisizing anyone who can play 'better' than i can, it makes me feel something of a fraud, but I calls 'em as I sees 'em. Less is more.
15. Have you any more pics of the 4 string ?
16.
I did bang it into a pothole at over 70 so you can't really blame it .
Indeed Auto express did a piece a while back about 'Ford Street pack' wheels buckling at an alarming rate. They were tested and the Ally was too soft or too thin cant remember which. Ford are well aware of it but are denying any responsibility for a recall (like in Fight Club)
17. I take it you have sworn off the 'Street pack' wheels on the Mk 7 Fiesta's then ? IMHO The only street they are fit for is Quality street. ie: Made from chocolate ?
18. Can I put my name down for this book. Do you have a list going ?
19. I thought you were talking about the Peanuts Charley Brown from the 1960s. As I had a dvd of the tv episodes in my hand at the very time I read it, I thought it was a freaky coincidence. It is now relegated to a minor happenstance.
20. Shame im not nearer. Threw out my old computer chair. But this new one is contributing to me getting typists elbow im sure. Strange thing is I never get it on my bass so im pretty sure its all the mouse action since i have changed chairs (different heights different arm angle)
21.
I've 4 left hand side tuners from the 60s or 70s that a friend gave me some time ago. They have never been used but were held together with sellotape and the glue hardened over the years and looks messy on the chrome. However, I'm sure this can be removed to reveal shining chrome plate. No manufacturers name, but I would guess they are Japanese. They be fine for anyone making a bass on a budget or any one with a retro project. I'm having problems attaching a file. If you'd like to see a pic, send me your email address.
Hi there. If you still have the tuners, they might do for a bass im having built. If you still have them let me know how much postage is, cheers daz
22. A very subjective thing is a 'fast neck' I suppose the definitive answer might be 'A neck that you can get around quickly on' Although a tad trite, that is essentially it. This speedy neck could be one thing or a combination of many, such as: A surface that allows for fast moving of the fretting hand with no dragging, No sticky out sharp fret edges to, again, make for a fast getaway up the neck and back down again. Without tearing ones hand to pieces. Size of neck, as in width, i.e. Jazz or Precision widths (usually 38 and 42mm ish, respectively) This doesn't necessarily mean a Jazz is easier. Some folks have played P bass for years and cant get on with a Jazz basses thinner spacing between strings. This makes them correspondingly slower with the thinner Jazz neck Or maybe its the profile of the neck that is the deciding factor ie a C or D shape, or some thing in between? Some people can slide up and down with the speed of a on a fret less neck, but couldn't do the same on a fretted bass. Or maybe they could if the frets them selves were thinner or old style fat frets. Some have gigged with one bass for so long, and worn their frets down so much that when they try and play on any other bass its like they have just started learning. But give them back their old knackered fret friend and they slide up and down it like lighting to a conductor rod. I have probably left quite a few things out here. So to answer the question. "what is a fast neck" The answer is, one that you can play on fast. What makes that neck fast though is a whole different kettle of waggon wheels.
23.
I bought my first bass from Woolworths. It was sh*te. And look what happened to Woolworths..
Yes but you can always use a Woolworths bass as a chest expander too.
24.
So, is the problem that Tesco are trying to con people into buying Fender Starcasters or that Fender make them in the first place?
Neither. The problem is with the millions of ungrateful brats we have spawned in our modern; See it. Buy it. Lose interest in it. Throw it away. Repeat ad nauseum Modern culture and the idiots who pander to them because its easier than teaching them real values.
25.
Bloody hell! Is this really a Fender bass..? http://www.tesco.com...&skuId=517-7012
Not really. Its a STAR caster ie: a word that looks enough like Strato caster that it might fool a few unwary buyers like mums n dads shopping for little johnny for an Xmas present. "Little Johnny insisted on it being a Fender stratocaster, and here is one much cheaper than the rest. Oh how pleased little johnny will be on Xmas morn, and how clever we are saving many hundreds of pounds" Imagine the the jolly scene. 6AM Xmas day:............ Cast: Johnny (typical spoiled brat neophye guitard) Mum n Dad (Johnnys parental modules) Scene 1: Interior: Johnnys home, living room. Johnny excitedly tears open the guitar shaped box with FENDER printed on it, to reveal..... Johnny: "Its a f***in bass you senile dingbats, and its NOT a stratocaster, cant you f***in read!!!" Parentals: (confused) "but but but the man in the shop said...." Johnny: " I dont give a toss what the man in the shop said" (Smashes bass to matchsticks on the TV, irreparably destroying both) "take it back. I dont want it. Waaaaahh Waaah Waaaah" (much wailing and gnashing of teeth) "I told all my friends to come round this afternoon to see my new Fender guitar. I'll be a laughing stock. You planned all this, you hate me. You have six hours to buy me a real Fender Strat, one with SIX f***ing strings. ARGGGhhh!" (runs up stairs screaming and crying. Door slams then silence..) Parents stare at each other in confusement. Still unable to fathom what could possibly have gone wrong. This awful scene is repeated up and down the land, throughout Christmas morning. Scene 2: Home of 'the man in the shop' We see the same man in the shop who sold Johnnys parents the offending item. He has obviously done very well for himself this season. Selling many people like Johnnys parents the very same pretender fender. He sits amid an enourmous pile of money several feet high, and spread right across the carpet. He is naked apart from a gold chain about his scrawny neck, the chain has the letter 'F' on it, the same font as a Fender logo.(A present from Henry Fender himself) "ha ha, those poor fools. I'm rich. Rich beyond the dreams of avarice. Richer than Croesus himself" raises glass of champoo to the sky, and announces.. "Thank you Fender, you've done it again"
