I did something a few years ago playing at the 4&20 Blackbird Festival in Weed, California (after first flying into Houston, then missing our connection to San Francisco and then almost crashing at SF when another plane taxied across our runway just as we were about to land. Going from 100 feet off the ground to a vertical climb in next to no time is an experience I don't want to do again in a hurry. Saw the bridge a second time though from the air). Jack Daniels seemed to be the thing that got us through. Especially if left in the car all day when it's 45 degrees C outside. Bit like a hot toddy but 10x stronger.
I say yes. I have the super cheap Gear 4 Music ones and the whole band use them. Much greater clarity of sound, much quieter so no hearing damage. No monitors to lug around and so fewer cables and clutter on stage. I'd possibly argue that a pub band's need is greater than a 'proper' band's as pub bands generally have less space hence poorer acoustic management and more noise pollution to contend with.
Do you have a link to the ones you use?

Hi Bassjim Your drummer isn't Kit is it? If it is you need em. He's loud (I used to be in a band with him, so I know
I'm in negotiations for a white Cruise. It's in pretty awful condition. Will cost me $600 plus taxes to get it here. I'm in two minds; £500 more or less, then factor in some kind of refinish. Hmmm.
Are they that good? Arnt there just as good basses out there that cost less?
Warwickhunt used to have a 5 string green cruise bass... Should have bought it when he sold it. Would be on that like a flash if it came up for sale again
There's one on eBay at the moment.

My Fender Rumble v3 500 combo lasted less than 3 minutes at bedroom volume before it packed up working. It was straight back to GAK for a refund. Put me off them forever. I've a secondhand Orange Terror Bass 500 and cab now and couldn't be happier.

Actually, just forget the YOB bass and look at Simon Farmer's new GUS G5 basses. Far more your style.

How is it?

Just bought my Tokai Hardpuncher. Great guy who I would happily deal with again.

The Pro Tone's are supposed to be very very good guitars and basses. They were only made for a couple of years before Fender pulled the plug as they were taking sales from both Mexican and American made Fenders, they were so good. Korean made and supposedly with extremely good quality control and woods. Buy straight away if seen I've been told.

1990. This is a lovely resonant bass, a nice comfortable weight (6.5 lbs on my bathroom scales) and a great woody sound when amplified.
