  1. That sounds a fab way to holiday - bon voyage!
  2. I had a tele shaped fretted A4 (mid period one with midi), and with a decent strap didn't really find neck dive a problem. Sounded great with Galli black tapewounds on. Sold it ages ago, but here's some pics to feed your GAS. ...with the tapewounds....
  3. With the eminently sensible suggestion of the sharpening thread becoming a sticky, and a couple more threads/discussions within threads cropping up about various techniques, would it perhaps be handy to have a subforum for techniques etc? There's loads of really good advice that is squirrelled away within particular build threads, and it might be good to have somewhere to feature it... Just a thought.... feel free to shoot me down/delete. ...actually - the repairs and technical forum already exists doesn't it - doh!
  4. I used my Genz NEOX 212T with a TC RH450, and it seems to be plenty loud enough for me....
  5. With intime-nick's suggestion, how about attaching it with the doubled up masking tape trick?
  6. That sounds like a good idea to me.
  7. When I glanced at that photo I thought it was a cake with candles on at first!
  8. Particularly when you can pick them up for £350 or even less if you're lucky.
  9. I think the asymmetric rosette is a lovely touch - bravo!
  10. I think it can depend on whether they have stock or are in the midst of having a new batch made.
  11. There's a magic roundabout in Hemel Hempstead as well, though having used both, I think the Swindon one takes the biscuit.... (Fab work on the Les Pauls, Christine!!)
  12. You've got me excited about table saws now, Phil. However, I REALLY shouldn't be buying tools when we are expecting to move house in the near future. I checked Screwfix, and they actually have one for £109 - 1500W rather than 2000W, but it's comforting to know that it's possible to get something for not much more £££ than the LIdi special, so I really shouldn't rush in
  13. The TC RH450 can give you plenty of dirt with the tubetone turned up, too.
  14. I used a strap handle on my 25kg 1x12 I made ages ago (18mm baltic birch, using the EV TL806 plans). I used teenuts for the strap bolts though - not just a screw into the cab timber. It was absolutely fine.
  15. Fabulous piece of furniture!
  16. Not sure which model you're being offered the use of, but I played through one of these a little while ago. ...in fact this very one. The 1x15 was very deep and a touch boomy on stage, but the amp sounded great - loads of headroom, had the Zoot sounding very nice indeed. Glad I don't have to carry it around though!
  17. I agree - it will be the right way round when the basses are being played, which surely is when it it meant to be seen.
  18. I believe the knobs DO have notches, but in tiny graduations, so a stepped pot rather than a multiposition switch.
  19. Master is the main volume control - i.e. the volume for the power amp section. So you adjust the overall volume with that. If you look at it, you will see the master is labelled at approximate power output levels, with 0W, 40W, 160W etc marked on the dial. Gain is the preamp volume control - so that allows you to set the input to suit the level coming from yout bass/DI box to prevent the pre being overdriven (unless you want it to be).
  20. Yes, just buy that Genx 212.
  21. I'd forgotten the speaker was an Alpha.
  22. Can't imagine it's that lightweight - non neo speaker, 18mm ply.....
  23. Go on.... and then have multicoloured pulsing LEDs..... even better, do a freless with perspex fretlines and LED them up
  24. Should have done clear perspex then you could rig up some LEDs to shine through it!!!
