2.
A current Mayer favourite of mine is this with Herbie Hancock. The wonderful Willie Weeks on bass. I've managed to get this on to the To Do list for one of my bands.
Thanks for that - brilliant....here's the recording in the studio.
3.
Whenever Pino and Mayer are mentioned in the same thread, it's the green flag to repost this
4. Bought one last Octoberish. Genuinely chuckle at the quality and its an utter steal.
5.
On tracks like Happy Man, Everybody Dance and Dance Dance Dance this can be clearly heard. However he didn't always do this. Notice how close to the bridge he plays on the video (sadly his last performance - and using the Stingray - and sounding exactly like himself despite illness) - fabulous sound (using Trace Elliott plus his 2 band 1977 Stingray)
Did he not die the same night?
6. WTF is he playing? http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xb31jz_xavier-padilla-bass-solo-with-gipsy_music
7. Had a long look at a Lakland 44 yesterday and it played like a dream. It was £495 so this is a bargain! GLWTS
8.
I just picked up a mint green one and it's utterly floored me. I've owned around a hundred basses including several stingrays and as an instrument it's just incredible. I've played a few walnut ones in shops that didn't impress, but the one I got is impeccable. The action goes crazy low and it feels and sounds great. The sound is middier than my ray, but very useable.
Loved the look of the mint green but I'd need to order and wait. Had a wee jam at work today and loved the deep growl. How good must the Sterlings be? How brilliant the USA versions?

10.
One of my bass students, who is about to turn up actually, has the white version with the RW neck and it's a super instrument. I'd like one of these too - in the colours above for sure!
Yup - tried that one too. IMO beats any other budget bass I have tried into a cocked hat. Over the last few weeks I've tried everything from Squire (inc cDimension) to Ibanez. Not a bad bass amongst them but the growl, necks and frets of the Sub won me over. Initially I was thinking about putting £300 down and paying up another 3 or 4 hundred to buy a Sterling or a Lakland and although both of these were a lot classier, the budget one did all that I needed.
11. Beauts!
12. Bought a Musician Sub in black and maple. Tried the RW board walnut and honey burt ones too and they played marginally better BUT......did not look as cool as the black and maple one. Is this wrong? Psychologically I think it is my (first) love of Jean Jacques Burnel and Geddy Lee that always leads me to this combination of body and neck. May get photos up later but meanwhile...

14. Go to 1 hr 37 mins and enjoy Tom Hamilton.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neFgnugwc14
15. Beautiful - have a free bump. I'm about to by a cheaper Sub MM but....
16. Well done - I'll take 3 please!
17. The 300 version has a humbucker at the bridge side......stunner!
18. Kenny's music in Glasgow - on the wall but not the site. Original case. I have decided I can't justify it so pile in if anyone wants.
19. 4 years old and in a shop mate.
20. Have a chance at a maple necked natural double buck one of these at a local shop for just under £600. Any thoughts about the value?
21. Bargain
22. Most excellent looking bass. I'm never keen on black body and rosewood neck but the blocks set it off beautifully.........hhhmmmhhh....
