1. very nice indeed you know i had one of these in black when they first came out,but i was only a wee bairn & traded it for something else. how i wish i'd kept it.
2. if it was me i go for a 2008 std jazz in oly' white/maple fretboard bloody gorgeous.
3. don't forget the MIM's.if you get a good one they're just as good as a MIA or MIJ but you really need to try a few.my blinged MIM P(http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=29009) is a fantastic bass & plays as well as any P bass i've ever played-sounds good too but i may just change the pup just for the sake of it.
4. good man. i've not seen a 5 string but have had a close up with a new 2008 4 string & i am well impressed.they seem even better built than the old models.just wish i could afford one, especially the colour scheme of yours-just a gorgeous bass. hope you get it sorted mate.
5. hi Dave,my MIA 62 P bass g string saddle screws stick out about twice as far as yours & the saddle is a gnats cock hair off touching the base plate but its never bothered me & i've never caught my hand on it-no matter how carried away(pissed) i get. + nothing can beat that P sound IMO,it just drives a song along better than anything i've ever heard. + don't let the Fender bashers put you off-if you like it keep it.
6. go to parcelfarce's web site a put your USPS tracking number in,if p'force have your parcel the website will tell you. i just recieved some parts for my bike that i ordered on the 4th october. you should recieve an email from USPS saying that they attempted to deliver you parcel, what this means is that parcelforce now have it.parcelforce will send you a letter asking you to pay the customs charges + their own handling fee, which you can do via their website, once you pay this they will deliver it next day.
7. i play through a B410HLF & love it,massive full sound with plenty of highs too & i only play 4 string passive Fenders. i tried this against an SVT410HLF & went for this as the SVT was way too big & heavy + it didn't sound much different to the B series cab (at least in the shop)
8. i used to have a real nice trans red/maple stingray then bounght a VMJ & much prefered it.so off went the ray to be replaced by a MIA jazz.
9. i bought an olympic white one of these of beedster a year or so ago. was a nice bass but i agree the one piece plate looks sh*te,changed mine too-then sold it on. i got £350 for mine.
10. every Fender i've ever seen has burst front & back, sounds like a copy to me.
11. i don't know who this band were but they sound just like "9 below zero". we've supported them 3 times so far & every time this is exactly what they're like. in fact the first time we supported them was at fibbers in york & when we arrived at the venue Dennis asked the landlord/owner who we were as follows. "who's that" "your support band" "well tell them to f*** off,we don't want them" nice eh ? on that subject again at fibbers John Amor made a big effort not to even look at us all night-what a twat. Wilco Johnson is the complete opposite, freindly, chatty & Norman even took an interest in my bass rig-thats how it should be. so go on name & shame them.
12. ey up mate nice to see you back here
13.
I'm not a P bass fan... but that's cool!
cheers
14.
this is the first bass ive seen gold hardware on and like it
cheers mate. i just love gold goodies on a bass.
15.
It's just gone I think I'll put a little extra cash in and get a Mex P
good move, but play a few as they vary a bit in quality, but get a good one (like mine ) & they're a cracking bass.
16.
Difficult question time now, probably a silly question too, as sound is personally subjective. How do the Sadowsky basses sound compared to the Laklands, or the Fender reissue basses, I've been offerred a US reissue 70's bass, and it really does look a beautiful bass, here's a photo of it.
if its anywhere neer your £500 budget snap his or her hand off, they're lovely basses.
17. yes is a good store now miles better than the old one + it hasn't been full of chavs when i've been there (yet)
18. cheers guys, thanks for the kind comments OTPJ - i'm thinking about putting a wizard thumper in it later on,when the missus lets me have some more dosh.
19. as i couldn't sell this bass i decided to keep it & bling it up a tad & string it with my favourite strings (EB group IV flats = yummy). all hardware came from W.D. music appart from the string tree(ebay) & the s' plate (fender) sorry about the sh*te photos i think my camera is buggered. i'm well impressed with the bridge(Gotoh 201) & the tuners (Gotoh reverse units) much better quality than standard Fender stuff (even MIA stuff). all in all it cost me just under £200 & i think it was well worth it + it's had a perfect setup (by yours truly) & plays absolutley beautiful.infact one of the best playing P basses i've ever owned. it's a keeper now i reckon.
20. ok here's a photo as requested 'scuse the crap photo, they actually look good in real life
