1. o.k. so this bass is still for sale due to the last buyer dropping out due to lack of funds now priced for a quick sale as i was counting on the cash for my new computer-which i have ordered. it's a bloody bargain for £350.00 so no silly offers please. come on its a fooking cheap nice jazz bass.
2. just a little update, "the growlers" has now ceased to exist. we haven't played together for 6 weeks & are supposed to be playing "the blues bar" in harrogate next friday. our singer has just told me he can't practice with us as he's too busy with his scout group ! enough is enough. so sod it me & my brother will form a new band & start again. "the growlers" r.i.p.
3. sold pending (well at least i thought it was)
4.
You have a PM
& you have a reply good sir
5. this is the Mexican made 60's Jazz bass, check out Fenders website for full specs. due to my home pc melting itself i'm needing some cash for a new one so i have to let this beauty go. i've only had it a few weeks so i've not had time to get it set up but it plays nice anyway. it's a beautifully made bass easliy as good as a MIA bass much much better than the MIM standard range(i.e. no routing under the scratch plate + build quality as good as my '62 MIA P bass) & better than a Jap fender imho. its got reverse tuners, vintage frets, correct pickup spacing & early 60's logo. it's a beaut' & i'm really sad to have to sell it but needs must. price is £350.00 which is a bargain as i paid £541.00 + shipping for it 6 weeks ago.p.s. if you pay via paypal you will have to cover the fees cheers.
6. my MIM 60's jazz sounds fantastic, plays nice & look cool too.(nothing like the MIM std jazz btw)
7.
Well, found these for sale here - http://www.andertons.co.uk/acatalog/info_0..._medium=Froogle for 449 quid. What you all think of that price? I reckon it represents pretty good value bearing in mind what I've read about these basses from over the pond - haven't seen much in the way of negatives. Build seems to be very good indeed.
thats £100.00 less then the 60's jazz bass anyone know why?
8.
Pm'd
hi mate, just checked my messages & i've not recieved anything, could you re-send it please.
9. thanks for all the replies, seems i'm not the only one in this situation. after much thought & pints of Tetleys we've decided to do what most of you kind people suggested i.e. form another band & keep the growlers ticking over for the occasional gig. hope those of you in similar bands get sorted too. cheers guys & gals
10. beautiful bass, but to many strings for an old fashioned fart like me
11. slightly different but have you tried a Mexican 50's P bass they're totaly different to the standard Mex' fayre & IMO superior to the Jap' Fenders.
12.
You sound like a monkey with his hand is a sweet jar, afraid to let go of what you have even though you can' t enjoy it.
perfect hammer--nail--head you described me to a tee cheers Bilbo
13. thanks for all the replies guys much appreciated. i'm going for a pint with my brov' this evening to have chat about it,i'll let you know the out come. i reckon we'll probably take all of your advice i.e. new band on the side & see how it goes. thanks a million guys.
14. my band "the growlers" just never seem to do anything.we've been going for 14 years & whilst we used to play on a regular bassis the vocalist & the drummer just don't seem to give a damn any more.we practice once a blue moon & as for gigs we've only played 4 this year. when the band play we are a damn good band, but it's just extremely hard work getting it to happen. my brother is the lead guitarist & him & me are always keen to play + modesty aside,we're both accomplished musicians, where as the drummer & vocalist just don't want to put any effort into it & neither of them are very musicaly giffted to be honest.but as a whole when it gels it really gels. if we sack both of them the band just won't be the same so i feel it would be the end of "the growlers" for good-which would be a shame, but its so damn frustrating i'm thinking of throwing in the towel & sod 'em. which brings me to my dilema- do i bin it & start again or try to keep it going (its been crap for 4-5 years so it won't change)& hope for a miracle. sorry for rambling (not to mention my bad grammar & spelling) art'
15.
ive bought from neil before and not only are his basses are kept in fantastic condition but he seems to have a nack for picking really nice ones!!! great bloke to deal with too!
cheers Chris, very kind you're a top bloke to deal with too.
16.
its your bass ive just put the stacks in!! looks and sounds fantastic! i already had them in my frankenstein!! passive just sounds so good when my mesa big block is just on the edge of overdrive so you can dig in and get that nice bit of grind and grunt!! love it!!!
aha nice one, glad you're lovin' it mate
17.
I am so afraid of noodling along though because when i do more often than not what i play sounds rubbish. Ah well, i best go start practicing.
just relax & try not to be too flash.
18. I never work a bassline out note for note, just play it your own way i say, chill out & go with the flow.(as stated above ) its much more enjoyable & you get to put some of youself into the song too. anyone who wants note to note perfection may as well just put the bloody C.D. on.
19. yes i'd agree about the pickups,my P has a very powerful meaty sound to it. don't know if the body wood etc is any different though.
20. passive all the way for me,if a bass has more knobs on it i just f*** about with 'em all the more instead of just playing the bloody thing. btw glad you got the stacked controls Chris all you need now is another set for the jazz you bought of me .
21. looks a bit of a dog to me Phil-i think i'd give it a miss.
22.
dont know about the jazz but i recently bought a mexican precision and im more than happy with it so i should imagine the jazz would be a great bass also.
+1 to the above.
23. i might sound daft but how about a good precision bass,i have 2 of 'em & in a band situation i find them much punchier than my jazz bass. proper kick ass tone really drives the music on. btw i just happen to have one in the for sale section
