1. Price drop to £350 ok so i just accidentally bought another bass (like you do) & to save the wife from ripping my nuts of i am going to have to sell this 'ere one. the bass is as new, absolute mint condition (i only bought it in May) & has had very little play as i mostly play DB in my band,in fact it has only left the house a couple of times. strings are perfect having only a few hours of home noodling, setup is lovely & low with 1.5mm on the G @ 12th fret. colour is a rather fetching antique tobacco satin finish & very nice it is too. 2 band active MEC preamp 2 Jazz style active MEC Gold pickups body is Ash neck is Ovankol fretboard is Wenge 24 bell brass frets 34" scale all hardware is the exact same as is fitted to the mega bucks German basses & is of very high quality. comes with the owners kit, including straplocks the Pro Series basses are very high quality instruments with very good build quality,i have previously owned German made Corvette's & think this is just as good as they were. comes with the owners kit this is a gorgeous good as new bass for a small price a lovely bass that i would keep it if i could only justify it to the wife sorry no trades. 2.
Artisan Hide it in the wardrobe you know it makes sense
Lol it's Damn tempting
 3. Wow that is lovely,I have the cash in the bank 😍 must resist or the wife will kill me
 4.
I am not 100% sure, but wern`t bolt on thumb pro series around a £1000 about 18 months ago, and now you can get one for the price of a Rockbass? Or was i imaging it?
they've discontinued the Korean Pro Series now so Thomann are selling off the remaining stock at silly cheap prices so if you have some cash now is a very good time to buy. They are awesome basses
 5. Pretty much all of the above, mine is only a pauper Korean model but it is still one of the very best basses i have ever owned,it plays beautifully & is punchy as hell.
 6.
Wow that's unusual: they are supposed to be extremely well made. Jason would probably love to know what went wrong there. I have no idea but wish you all the best mate.
thanks Rabbie,i'm sure it'll get fixed without issue, just one if those things that happen. I'm going to order an Fdeck hpf-pre to use as a backup just in case of any future problems.
 7. i have posted in the repairs section but thought i'd post here too as you guys are very helpful. my pre' has decided to become microphonic & sound sh*te,i am dropping it in at my local shop to get checked out just hope they can fix it. i noticed it sounded very honky/middy at saturdays gig & if i tapped on the wooden body of the unit the sound was transmitted to my main amp',it sounded like a small tomtom-weird. it only becomes microphonic when the clicky volume is turned on but sounds sh*te all the time,it also hisses when i switch it on. Jason at Blast Cult has offered to fix it for me but that means shipping it to the USA,which means i will be without it for several weeks & i have some gigs pending. if my local guy can't fix it do you have any idea who could ? cheers.
 8. hi thanks for that i know nothing about electronics so will get a local chap to check it out as i wouldn't know a capacitor from anything else in there. i noticed last night whilst i was messing around that when switched on it also makes a constant hissing noise.
 9. its a solid state unit http://www.blastcult.com/pickups--pedals.html
 10. i run 2 pickups on my double bass via a stereo TRS lead into my 2 channel preamp-mixer then a mono lead into my amp. last night i noticed that my preamp had become microphonic, i.e. if i tapped it the tapping sound was sent to my amp ? this has never happen before i also couldn't get my usual deep/rich bass sound & instead had a crappy honking middy kind of sound. i wondered if a bad earth on my TRS lead could cause this, any advice. cheers btw my pickup & preamp system is the Blast Cult Channel Blaster
 11.
You've started something now, I keep looking at the PS Thumb's on the Thomann site!
go on just buy it yoy know you want too I got one recently & love it to bits, cracking bass
 12. check out Thomann, they are clearing out their stocks of Pro Series Warwicks at silly prices, don't be put off by them being made in Korea, they use the same pickups/preamps & hardware as the German basses, they are superb instruments,i have 2. if you want a 4 string i would snap this up http://www.thomann.d...o4_black_hg.htm my Thumb sounds bloody ace,its the punchiest bass i have ever owned, whereas my Corvette has a mellower sound to it,i love both of them.
 13.
What a looker! Generous F holes and the book matching on the back looks lovely.
thanks mate
 14. As Clarky said i would recommend Innovation strings,if you want low tension strings go for silver slaps or golden slaps (same strings just different colour) or if you want a higher tension string go for super silvers. I have used both in the past & reckon either will be fine for you, both sounding pretty much the same, both giving good accoustic volume too. I wouldn't fancy playing bluegrass with steel strings, especially if you are going to be slapping as the tension will be high & you will tear your fingers to shreds.
 15.
What a beauty! Just had a look on the Duke site (can't speak german). Which model do you have? The bridge radius looks a bit flat for bow use - is it really for pizz / slap?
why thank you Mine is a Two Tone model. It is setup for slap/pizz so as you say a pretty flat radius & it doesn't have a Romberg bevel either.
 16.
Cheers - my GAS has now been reignited.... Hmm - those f holes look pretty big...
lol
Ahhhhhhhh I have been dreading the pictures and review of your Duke. What a beauty. Just as I had come to the conclusion I would stick with my 50\4 for a few more years. Glad you are very happy with her? Do you mind pm'ing me what she cost including the shipping?
my 50/4 was a very good bass but is just not in the same league as my Duke.
 17.
I could take it for you, unless you want to travel with me
many thanks for the offer but i can't go at all & there is no way my Duke is going without me
 18.
Lovely bass Do they construct them differently to a standard bass in any way? To suit slapping and for feedback resistance?
cheers on the Duke site Thomas (great bloke) mentions that most bass manufacturers make their laminate basses in the exact same way they make their carved basses, just using plywood instead, where as Thomas designed his basses specifically for roots/rockabilly music. either way the only way i get any feed back now is if i have too much sub bass on the preamp,my usual thing now is to turn up the sub bass until i get deep bass feedback then back that off until i'm feedback free, this gives me a wonderful deep thumping tone with no feedback at all, even stood in front of my amp'.
 19.
Good on ya mate! It looks fantastic! You deserve it! May I add, Dukes are not only outstanding for rockabilly. I play all manner of influences (apart from classical) and it does it all with a majestically deep bassy sound. I took what could be regarded as a foolish gamble on a Duke just as Thomas was preparing to launch them. Quality-wise, the only alternative would have been importing an American Standard and I didn't fancy that. I couldn't find a suitable vintage Kay, so I chanced my luck. Thomas knows his stuff and he's amongst the nicest guys on the bass planet. 4 years later, my chocolate brown custom Duke is a like a family member to me! Many happy Duke years to you my friend!
cheers Rabbie & many thanks for your help in making my decision, you are a gent'
Great stuff. Serious Duke envy here I'm after a peacemaker but sadly can't begin to think about it until next year.
its well worth the expense, this is just in a different league to my old Strunal, although that was a good bass too but not a patch on the Duke.
 20. many thanks for the comments guys much appreciated. Rev - Thomann sell some Duke basses which is where i bought mine, the price is the same as buying direct but with Thomann the shipping is free & you get their 3 year warranty.
 21.
Thats reet perty! Lovely bass, that man
cheers Clarky,it is a beaut' for sure
very nice. will it be at the Derby Bass Bash next week?
i can't make the bash i'm afraid
 22. New Duke Double Bass Day well ok it was just over a week ago really but i've been busy slapping. i can't believe just how good this bass is,my Strunal was a good bass but this is just so much better its untrue. construction is excellent,it is so much easier to play,it weighs a lot less & most importantly it sounds so so good being much warmer/deeper/punchier than my old bass. i've had it for 10 days now & its already done 2 gigs i get no feedback at all with this beauty either,i couldn't be happier. love it love it love it (if it had lady parts i would probably make love to it )
