I was going to say Q4 Pro like mine, but these have a flat back body, so I'd go wuth Korean Legend too. Those late 90s, early noughties Korean Spectors are superb, the finish is fantastic, they play so easily and a pallete of tones. I know I shouldn't but being a generous old fool I've £50 for it😉

Bunnyly enough I was. Good camping bass that by the string height, once finished playing for the day, you could throw a tarp over the strings and and sleep undernearth it.

If you have any car body repair shops local take the bass in and ask if they can run a paint depth gauge over it..... Explain why you want to do it, and I'm sure it will make a pleasant change for guys and be happy to oblige, buy some charity sweets on the way out...they may even run some 3M on it and hit it with a close form mop for you, out of curiosity. PS....do this first thing in the morning, I've dealt with painters for four decades now, they are almost normal before 10:30am😎

Because it seems the bass players I interact with, be it on here, doing a bit of business with, see playing live, chat with seem to be 'of an age' 😊with not a lot of new blood coming along. Not to say there isn't/aren't any fresh faces, but, well you know. Or maybe more a statement about live music? Was going thru the "How Was Your Gig" thread and some of us aren't getting any younger in a few of the pics. The audiences at open mic nights, jams, sessions etc also seem to be getting more wrinkley too. Could be, probably is, down to me and just my sphere of influence? Any thoughts? Mr V Meldrew.

As above. There's lot of things going on to give it that tone, flats, the windings/wire thickness on the pups, producing a darker sounds etc. Not mentioned do often so often, are recording techniques regarding the sound mix on older 50s and 60s records. Most were mixed very light on bass as it tended to make needles skip...lest we forget in our digital age.
