1. Sorry, I may be missing it somewhere -- how much do you want for it? Cheers Mark
2. Thanks, guildbass. That's very kind of you. Fragility, you have PM. Cheers Mark
3. We'd be interested in that if guildbass doesn't want it -- my daughter's just started piano lessons. I can pick it up. Cheers Mark
4. The Ruts -- either Babylon's Burning or Staring At The Rude Boys Cheers Mark
5.
I am thinking Bergantino 6x10 and Genz Benz Streamliner 9.0 to be honest
I was going to suggest the Berg in the for sale section, but you've beaten me to it. Good choice. I use a TB into a Mesa 400+ into a Berg 610. Cheers Mark
6. I've used DDTs to dep with a similar down-tuned band -- I was recommended them on here. They were great. Tension-wise, they felt pretty much the same as standard DRs even at the lower tuning. And they lasted for ages. I think you'll like 'em. Cheers Mark
7. Welcome -- from another Mark in Sussex, whose gear outshines his ability Cheers Mark
8. Well, I'm afraid you've reached the limit of my technical understanding Have you messed with the pots inside? I've never had trouble getting any tone out of it -- though I do prefer a mid-dy sound. Cheers Mark
9. I'm not a technical person, so forgive my vague reply. I've got an Audere Z-mode 3-band preamp on one of my basses -- and it has a mini toggle that emphasises different frequencies depending on where it's set. Does yours have that -- and does changing it help? I think you can also adjust tone settings on the circuit board inside. Here's the website: http://www.audereaudio.com/JZ3.htm Hope that helps. Cheers Mark
10. Sorry, molan, I forgot to reply to this. My mate has joined another band so he's no longer on the market. Sorry. I hope you find or have found somebody. Cheers Mark
11. This was the reply from my friend who's out there this week. It sounds complicated -- but this is what he said, if it helps. My understanding is that, if you're going to be working out there, you need a sponsoring employer. The process is then that you fill out an application form for a "Certificate of Eligibility" which then has to be sent via the employer to the visa authorities in Japan. This may take a few weeks to come back, at which point you have to complete an additional form for a visa, which you then have to take to the Japanese Consulate in London in person. Once all this has been done they turn 'round the visa in about a week. His is a reasonably high profile metal band so maybe they have to do things by the book. Sounds like a proper application for a job, though. Cheers Mark
12. A friend of mine is gigging in Japan -- next week. I've asked him what they have and await his reply.
13.
Buy from Thomann without worry, they're good.
+1 -- and quick delivery.
14. I know a fantastic drummer in Aldershot but I'm not sure he's into doing covers. I'll ask him and get back to you. Cheers Mark
15.
Very sad news.
+1. He's a great bloke who does amazing set-ups. And I once played a g****r he built which is one of the best I've ever had my hands on. Cheers Mark

18.
... the domestic authority ...
Excellent Sorry, have a bump. Cheers Mark
19. I had a bass built by Bud LeCompte in Texas -- based purely on how it looked and his reputation on Talkbass. This was four years ago, when there were two dollars to the Pound and I had money to spend. I budgeted for the tax, VAT and a flight case. Bud did a great job, kept me updated with photos and delivered more or less on time. I still love the bass -- it's light, well balanced, plays nicely and looks lovely. I'd say getting a custom abroad is fine if you have the cash and are willing to take a risk on how it will turn out. Here's the build diary Not my bike, sadly Cheers Mark
20.
It's over 2 grand that's not cheap.
That's cheap for a Wal, even in today's market, isn't it? Cheers Mark
21. It might go cheap -- the guy's a first-timer. Swap to black hardware and it would be perfect. Cheers Mark
22. Our very own obbm does them. Bassic Bits They're great and Dave's service is awesome. I think the G30 transmitter has a straight jack plug input instead of the TA4-f used on others in the range. Sorry for the OT post, elsharko. But have a bump -- if G30s are anything like G90s, it's a great bit of kit. Cheers Mark
23.
Do they open their set with "Here comes the Sun" followed with "House of the Rising Sun" etc etc ?
Er, no ... the nearest we get is You Took The Sunshine From New York by the Wildhearts. Oh, and Don't Believe A Word Cheers Mark
24. I was going to mention this but I thought it might break advertising rules. It costs £1.50 to enter, though. Many of the senior Sun staff are metal fans -- at least four play guitar to a high standard. One runs a three-piece blues band in Hastings, another fronts a punk metal band in Kent. There is even a Sun covers band -- Ten Bananas. Cheers Mark
