Its a bit of a circular augment though, by the same token the difference between 250 and 125 is also "bugger all" ditto for 125 and 62.5 - at some point the "bugger all"s accumulate to something significant otherwise we'd all be a 50w amp. The "bugger all" between 250 and 500 might, depending on circumstances, just be the one that crosses the line between loud enough and not loud enough.
Top post!
For heaven's sake... I've waited years for a video of this tune, and... it sounds great, but the lighting is cack. What a missed opportunity.
Geddy's backline looks like an early seventies Ampeg catalogue!!
I agree also I think the EMG pups will put a lot of Jazz bass purists off, personally I love active basses so many more options than a passive GLWTS mate
The controls are still passive VVT. EMGs are only "active" in that they have an extremely low output (which makes them so quiet to use and beloved of studio engineers...). The battery powers a small preamp that boosts the pickup output to something resembling standard passive pickups. It certainly doesn't sound like an active bass and you can't boost either bass or treble... Still sounds lovely though
I have recently spoken to someone who found out after leaving it for commission sale at the gallery that his GL Jazz didn't sell because the scratch plate was wrong (how long does it take to change a scratchplate.??). Looks like the GL buyer is picky about originality i suppose.
Good point! Although this one comes with the original white SP in addition to the black one which I prefer! Maybe I should put the white one back on and take some more photos...
Very difficult market I suspect - not too long ago, this might have flown out - maybe the mods are a factor? Still, a very desirable bass (to me at least)
Yes, you might have a point about the mods - although the pickups can be easily swapped out. When I had the routing done for the battery cavity, I never thought I might be in a financial situation that would necessitate selling gear...
Still saving up atm.
I know how you feel! The market is odd at the moment - lots of Fenders and other J-type basses, and lots of really top-end stuff. Some is selling quickly and others are hanging around for a long time, even when the prices are competitive. It's frustrating when one needs money!
Really bad news. The classic Motorhead line-up was Lemmy, Phil & Eddie.
This^
Really sad news, the first band I ever saw live. Couldn't hear for days after. RIP Phil
And this ^ RIP to a true rock legend
If you can ship it, Dave Wilson is one of the best in the biz.
This ^ I've not yet commissioned any work from Dave, but what I've seen of his work is incredible! However, Haltwhistle (in western Northumberland) may not be exactly local for you...

Thanks for the reminder Dad However, it seems to be that more of our "guest" sellers (often based in mainland Europe and with very low or none-existent post counts) are failing to read (or respect) these guidelines... Just an observation - not a criticism.
Sheehan always gets criticism for his tone but whether you like it or not it is born out of a purpose and not just being a "look at me!".
This What's going on with the interviewer's hair though?

Please don't do it!! It is really useful to be able to search previous for sale threads when checking the value of equipment. If people delete their threads once the item is sold, it robs us of the opportunity to do so. Also, I can see no reason to delete a thread once the item is sold. Why would you? Deleting the photos is different, as it frees up space in your picture allocation... Rant over.
I guess not - I'd be changing for the sake of it, really.
Surely not. Bass players are far to intelligent to do such things.
This, along with my dislike for confrontation is what has prevented me from demanding my money back.
It needn't be confrontational. Explain the problem to the seller (as you have just done for us) and see what he says. Make your position clear about what you want/expect. The worst he can say is no, at which point you might want to refer it to Ebay. If none of that works, you could always just sell the bass on. Whether or not you mention the truss rod issue depends on your own integrity...
