I think it's a bit of both, depending on the bands and venues. there are some venues that will always be pretty busy on their regular "live music" nights. The punters will usually be discerning but appreciative. If a band is poor, it's the band that will tend to get the blame rather than the venue and obviously that band will struggle for another booking! Some bands undoubtedly have a loyal following who will turn up pretty much anywhere to see them. These bands tend not to gig quite so often, as they can't afford to saturate their audience... In most situations though, it's a combination of the two. A new band in a new venue may well be empty!
There's a lot on the move on the forum this week - by many many other accounts and my own, it's such good quality - me confused
Once you start on the slippery slope that is GAS you will likely never achieve tone nirvana. Too many people think that the "tone in their head" resides within a certain box of components and elastic trickery. Or a certain combination of drivers in a box constructed from a certain type and thickness of wood... It's bollocks frankly. By all means buy the gear that pleases you, for whatever reason. Whether it be cutting-edge, antique or retro-stylee - buy it coz you like it and want it. Don't try to convince yourself that it will automatically make you a better player or even sound better. Still - it means that those of us with less disposable income can try an amp that everyone was raving about 18 months ago, for close to half of the market price! That's gotta be good! BTW, there's also a lot of Trace gear for sale at the moment, and nobody comments about that! N o love for green at the moment?
V-type amps are fantastic. The matching cab is a 2X15" which (not surprisingly) suits it perfectly.
You mean this one? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=125690 Wish I could afford this amp, as I'd love to hear what it would sound like with my 1528... There's a lot of Trace gear for sale at the moment, but these two really are the mutt's nuts. Maybe someone should buy both of them? -

Three pickups? Pah!

Ah yes - Mick and Phyllis are lovers... That headstock ain't standard Ibby though is it?
...it'll give 'em more time to daydream about all the money they're going to get from extortionate ticket prices.
Yeah. No way could I, or would I, justify those prices - even for Rush.

Bass 2 nails it on slap for me - but only because it sounds more like Norwood!! Bass 1 also sounds great on slap, but a bit more like an anonymous US session player somehow? Bass 1 way ahead on both pickups and the bridge alone. I played the 5 string version of your Richwood a few weeks ago. It is owned by a 16 year old student who loves his bass to bits. he has reason to! A very nice bass (if slightly neck-heavy in 5 string format). And again - lovely playing man!
So what d'ya think on price? - about right? Cheers jake
Seems about right. That V-type head would go beautifully with the V-type 2x15 cab I am selling! I suspect the head is worth more than the two cabs combined... The head may be rare, but those cabs ain't! Is this head the fore-runner of the V4? -
συγγνωμη για τα λαθη που εκανα i expain now in greek sorry i was in a hurry i think i ok now
Sorry! My comment wasn't aimed at you, but at tommorichards. I just thought it was a bit unfair to criticise the grammar of a guy posting in a language that is not his first...
I dont understand the sentence structure/grammar in step 3
Could you explain it more clearly in Greek?

http://www.thomann.de/gb/cort_curbow_5mic.htm The list price is nearly £500! Great basses for the price - and especially at £170!!
maybe i was lucky and got the amp i like the sound of the best in the first place...
That sounds very likely! Lucky you!

Maybe there is some way that the "Basschat logistics division" can help with this one? Anyone in the Falkirk/Stirling/Edinburgh area that could help move this cab down south a few miles? I could take it from north Northumberland down to, say, North Yorkshire... Just a thought as there seems to be interest in the South and Midlands, and I guess shipping for this beast would be pretty cost-prohibitive. Works for the Olympic torch!
Just noticed there's a lot of Ashdown gear up here... hopefully the offer of free bonus paint will sell mine first!
If you painted the cab itself, it would look a bit like the Trace cab that I am trying (unsuccessfully!) to sell!
Well, I live in the Netherlands. Ships would sink and planes would be VERY tailheavy, but i still think shipping this to pair it with its brother 1248H (4x12") and my orange bass terror would be worth the risk!
It already has casters. Simply fit an engine and you could drive it onto the ferry from North Shields to Ijmuiden! Some people only see problems.... -
