I'm looking for a cab with a 10 or 12", with good clarity, capable of around 400w, weighing 10kg or under, and the size of a handbag! It'd be a lone cab with my AI Clarus, so would need some decent bass response too, but not much on the way of colour.
That's a big ask!! Unfortunately, the small number of cabs that come anywhere near solving your conundrum will be expensive. That level of quality has to be paid for...
Who's the bass player? What a twat, I saw him fart about 'tuning' his A string I think, about 4 or 5 times during the minute or so I watched, couldn't understand it, 'pro player'? Even reaching over with his right hand, I'm sure they were miming any how!
Looks like John Taylor to me. There are certainly bigger twats in this world... He was reaching over with his right hand so that he could sustain the note he was fretting with his left. I don't understand the problem?

One track that I played for years in my last band (and really enjoyed!) was Robert Cray's 'The Welfare'. Interesting bass line and certainly works as a three piece... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2JDRfrnzP4
ooh thats me told then
I'm sure it wasn't meant in a snotty kind of tone... but there are very similar threads to this one every few weeks on here, and there are still some people who refuse to accept that the sound that comes out of a bass cabinet has very little to do with the size (i.e. diameter) of the drivers in it. There are lots of other variables that DO have an effect, but the old chestnut that tens are faster to respond and have more mids, and that fifteens are somehow warmer but tend towards wooliness, so twelves are a perfect compromise between the two.... Is bollocks.

Can't honestly say that I like all of his stuff, but some of it is incredible! Amazing player and a very talented guy.

How about this... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=118536 Or indeed this... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=120944 Older TE gear is nigh on indestructible and had great tone (IMO). Weighs a ton, but in some ways that can be quite reassuring!
...sure I accept your point, BUT, how many of the thousands of succesfull deliveries do we hear about, we usually only get personal experience from people who have bad experiences, whoever is the courier. People tell of a bad deal but rarely big up a good deal IMO.
Well, I haven't shipped a huge amount of stuff - but I've used PF every time and never had a problem so far. YMMV.

The saddest pic ever on ebay
Conan replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I shouldn't really laugh... especially as my son is in debt to the tune of £600 after running up a huge mobile phone bill watching internet porn.... Which is why I'm trying to sell his music gear... But I did laugh! -
If the singer can't sing - and let's face it, most of them can't - then you can forget it.
Better? Depends on the audience. Most of us on here are probably biased, but for most punters it's the primadonna, pouting, flouncing, huffy, lazy, egotistical bastard that most of us like to call the 'singer' that makes or breaks a band. Obviously, instrumental music doesn't count.

But does it sound/play three time better than a Sue Ryder P?
Seem to remember we also had a fretless with little brass plate pickups set into the neck - I think that was one of yours as well?
I remember them! In fact I really wanted one at the time...
I don't one with a fan in it though...
Amps without fans tend to have BIG heat sinks/fins instead - which can make them bulky... What's the problem with fans? Does Simon Cowell keep hitting them?
If you bought a case on here or anywhere else for that matter and it turned up damagaged with a only a bit of sticky tape and a stamp on it, you would also be peeved
I can see why you might feel peeved, but will it really be worth all the hassle to get a few quid towards the case? If it was a cheap one, and well-used, how much do you think this would amount to? Enjoy the bass and move on would be my advice.
-
My view is that (based on the listing) you weren't buying the case, therefore no recompense is due ... but that the seller was irresponsible for not packing properly and very lucky the bass wasn't damaged, leading to a serious dispute and him ultimately being very out of pocket
This. Sounds like a lucky escape. If the bass is a high-value instrument (as it sounds like it is) then you would probably have been looking to invest in a new, decent case anyway. I'd be looking to breathe a sigh of relief and move on I think.
I'm sure one of our Status experts will chime in but I think that is an early Energy or a an S3000. I think the S2000 was all graphite.
Yep. The S2000 has humbuckers and four controls - volume, pickup blend, bass cut/boost and treble cut/boost. It was indeed all graphite. This looks like a 3000 to me... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=100694 This is an S2000...
...Gary Willis.... It's just astonishing technically.
Agreed. But I also think that it's buttock-clenchingly dull. Technique for the sake of technique. Fair enough if it's played at a trade show (which it seems to be) but otherwise, what exactly is the target market for this type of shredding?
Stipe's only got one voice, after all!
So has Geddy Lee, and nobody could accuse Rush of re-animating their own corpse every couple of years since the seventies.
REM are like a re-animated corpse or a party guest that won't leave.
Brilliant quote!! Mind if I use it in my sig?
