As an ex-journo, please tell me that when you wrote "Fender's" for the plural of Fender, it was a mistake by your fingers, and that it won't appear in your articles that way! I find that poor writing ends up detracting from what's actually being written about. I gave up reading one magazine because I realised that all I'd done was proof-read the mag (I gave up counting after the first couple of dozen mistakes) and hadn't actually taken anything in. Maybe it's me, but writers of all types should take pride in their writing, not just their knowledge of the subject matter.

Fair enough. Mind you, I wasn't complaining. Just explaining what's been happening in case it helps someone work out why. So long as I know you're on the case, I'm happy.

I seem to be getting emails to the new topics I've subscribed to, but I'm no longer getting email alerts for the topics that were there before the changeover. On some of the old threads I've unsubscribed and then subscribed, to no avail. I have also changed the email address (although same domain) to see if it made a difference. It didn't.

Don't dismiss the van-derived car! I have a Berlingo and can fit the entire drum kit (except the bag of bits - stool etc), my cab, head and couple of basses, plus the PA (desk, two speakers, two monitors), plus all associated stands (including everyone's guitar stands), cable covering thingies, the drum riser (a rug!) and still have room for a passenger, ...and, of course, it has seats for when I don't lug stuff around and the extra windows means it's easier to drive.

Shame. None within 140 miles of me either. The last time I saw them (I still have the lapel badge) Fergal opened the set by coming on stage and doing the wolf-whistle to the beginning of Get Over You into the mic and just about blew everyone's eardrums!

I haven't had any email notifications since the changeover. I've deleted them and re-added them to no avail. This evening I have changed my email address setting, plus removed all notifications and will re-add them tomorrow. Mind you, it's probably saved me a fair bit of money. I think I've bought seven or eight basses since joining Basschat - mainly because I subscribed to the "For Sale" forum! Anything else I should try?

I always play them unplugged in the shop. Besides, the sound that you'd hear would be influenced by the shop's amp, so it isn't a valid reference unless they have the same amp that you have. The way the bass feels is what's important to me. As you can see from my sig I have a few to call on. The USA Jazz Deluxe feels much nicer than any of the others. When played live I'm not sure most of the audience could tell the difference in tone anyway.
