1. Juat listening to him now. Playing everything between James Jamerson and RAtM. It sounds as 'big' as a P but I think the humbucker prevents it from having that clarity of tone that you get with a split coil. It may be in my head. It does sound great. He reckons it's v comfortable; I ain't been allowed near it yet!
2. yep... white with blue go-faster stripes.
3. So, my parents take their grandson shopping in Newcastle at Guitar Guitar. He come away with this, his "dream bass", for an early birthday present. I used to get Our Price vouchers... He's going into the recording studio soon with his band so he'll be buzzing.

5. Is there a 'do not want a covers band' filter?
6.
Just downloaded a Charles Lloyd cd called Canto. The bass player is new to me, a guy called Anders Jormin. Beautiful sound and some lovely ideas. Google reveals he is widely recorded by ECM and has led 9 recordings in his own right. I will be looking them up.
Anders Jormin's sound is massive. I have a few ECMs with him featuring heavily. The Lloyd recordings for the label are beautiful. The Water is Wide has some special playing by Brad Mehldau (who i love anyway). I recently picked up the latest Wasilewski trio recording as well as Tomasz Stanko's newest with his American band. Think i prefer his playing with the aforementioned Polish trio tho.
7. JPJ Jazz? Or is it basically out there already in standard incarnation?
8. i suspect it's just a bad time of year. It's pretty much my dream P (white blond might have been preferable ) but there will be many like myself who maybe have a good bass to shift on before they can even think about adding a few hundred to get this. Good luck though. It's still a hell of a bargain.

11. I love Fender tones, and like many others here am no guitarist. So i bought a Traynor YCV 40 which is very much the Hot Rod Deluxe, for a fraction of the price.
12. Yep. I'll have this please if it's in mint condition. Bank transfer next Monday ok?

14. I've put my Jag up for sale this afternoon in the hope that it sells before this goes.
15. I have a mint, ungigged Classic '50s P in Fiesta. Strung with flats. Does this sound appealing with added £££?
16. Hi. if this is still fs on the 16th it might be mine. Where are you based pls?
17. The Se535? I've had them (and the 530). Amazing sound quality. Over ear cabling is love or hate at times.
18. I feel your pain. Two promising, original bands from last Jan (one from May in fact). Gigs lined up for one and some good ones with an EP under belt thwarted by unreliable drummer. Second band: gigs lined up, foiled by petulant and frankly despicable guitarist creating an atmosphere of discontent. New Year looks like it's bringing more than one opportunity.
19. That's no problem I really should keep it and save for an upright! If you happen to change your mind, do let me know. I'm assuming the size and cost of these suggest that it'd be a good introduction to double bass playing? T
20. Hi. I have a mint Fender Classic '50s P bass in Fiesta red. Would this be something you'd be interested in? I am in London in two weeks. T
