  1. Just doing a spot of maintenance on my Jap Fender 57ri. Turns out it was born 16th Dec 1985. Lovely bass just pondering which flats to go with
  2. Ampeg SVT II Non Pro - just to heavy and 'fancy' for the small pub gigs/shared backline gigs we did Ashdown Spyder (both 330 and 550) - superb 'plug in and play' amps Mesa BB750 - closest sound ive got to 'all valve' without actually being 'all valve' I currently get away with an Ashdown LB30 for my needs but should the bigger gigs come back then a Spyder or Mesa Walkabout will be on the shopping list
  3. Anyone here grab the vintage SVT that went on ebay for £850?  Was tempted and fairly local alas house move at the moment is eating all my fun funds

  4. Selling this as a job lot. Taken from a Spector NS-94 SSD. As such the engraved name doesnt feature on the bridge or tuners. Looking at pictures of these basses online it looks like the knobs are aftermarket ones in the usual Spector bevelled top style. These are push on rather than grub screw. All fitting screws are included with the bridge and tuners. Price can include UK postage
  5. Id say either an original 57/58 burst/maple/gold P bass or a ric 4005
  6. I also just saw their Ric from the 70's in autumnglo. Usually arent my thing rics but that one looks stunning!
  7. Aidan bought a pickup off me in an effortlessly smooth transition. Nae danger here 👍
  8. Thanks so much for that. I think that settles that my current flats are Maroooosiks
  9. Sorry for the ancient thread revival. Ive done a separate thread on some flatwounds that came on my Cabronita bass that im really liking and some suggestions are that they are maruszczyk. Does anyone who uses them have a close up photo at all please? My flats in question are uber shiny/glassy in feel, black silks at both ends BUT the above headstock photo differs slightly from mine in that teh silks on mine seem shorter
  10. Thanks for all the replies so far. Just doing some more research and some places suggest the silks on Dunlops are slightly 'coated' to prevent fraying. If this is the case then the search goes on as they are just standard silks.....
  11. I have a set of Elites Detroit Flatwounds and a set of Elites Groundwounds. Both cut for 4-in-a-row fender style headstock with plenty of winds (i only usually snip the E). Both have had minimal play time but new project requires 'orrible zingy rounds. £15 each set of £25 for both. Price includes UK postage
  12. These definitely sit in the old school camp. Never tried dunlop but ive read they are more ‘modern’ type ala chromes/fender?
  13. These came on my cabronita bass but the owner didnt know what they were. Standard brass ball ends, black silks at both ends. Glassy shiny ala la bella, not massive tension, very even and even though they are thumpy the E is not a dead thunk. Tempted to say possibly the Marooooooosik’s that are sold by bass direct but cant be sure. Any ideas?
  14. There was one cheap bass that i traded in at a local crack converters. Probably not worth much but since has become something that would be sentimental now. It was a Samick Artist Series bass but in a colour/style i havent seen before. Its exactly the same as this picture of one for sale in Turkey of all places. I bought it from Sam's Guitars in Bangor, North Wales when i was working on Anglesey around 1999/2000 and sold it in bolton around 2001/2002
  15. Fender 7150 pure nickels are my go to rounds when i need rounds. As a flats player these are the only rounds i can tolerate
  16. Just watched an old video of my band where i used a Mesa MPulse 360 live.  THAT tone!?!  Why did i ever sell it :(

  17. Taken from a MIM Fender Cabronita bass as I have replaced it with a blade style pickup. Nice beefy tone (once you swap out the terrible .22 cap in the Cabbies to a standard .47 jobbie) and would be great for someones wacky project. No stickers on this to say whether its bridge or neck but online talk is the Fenders shipped with bridge pups and the Squiers with neck ones – the bridge being a tad hotter. Fully working, adjustable polepeices and a great eye catching alternative to more ‘standard’ style pickups. Comes with mounting screws and even has the small ear clips if your bass/project requires them rather than the standard UV mount that the Cabronita takes and will be boxed and posted to your UK door within the asking price of £65

  18. Bought this for a project (cabronita bass) but no longer needed. New and unused. £20 inc P&P to your UK address
  19. Please bare with me here, my ‘technical’ knowledge is lacking so I may well ramble here…. I have a Fender Cabronita bass that I want to replace the pickup in. Main reason being the well documented misaligned pole pieces. I have corrected it slightly with a threaded saddle bridge but looking over on Talkbass the consensus seems to be that the TV Jones blade pickups are a good upgrade. This is where it becomes a bit foggy – TV Jones state their blade ‘bass’ pickup is a “Thunderblade” which specs out at DCR – 4.0k and Inductance 1.74H. However, several TB’ers seem to suggest the TV Jones Superton (advertised by TV Jones as a guitar pickup) is exactly the same as the Thunderblade just in a different casing. The specs do differ slightly though when I look further into it with the Superton speccing in at DCR 4.0K and inductance 1.81h. I do much prefer the look of the Supertron, its more readily available and it does seem to be the pup Fender used on their limited run of Cabronita Borrocha basses. Would the seemingly (to my amateur mind) small variation in inductance affect the tone massively? I don’t want a toppy guitar like pickup but the fact Fender seems to put the Supertons in the Borrocha basses plus the insistence by TB’ers that the pups are one and the same suggests there may be only a very slight difference between the two pups that are advertised as “bass” and “guitar”
  20. I do want to give these another go. I remember mine being almost a Mesa BB750 for nearly quarter of the price. As you say, it does the ‘tubey/valvey’ thing very well
  21. Sorry, come home to 6 PMs about this. Will reply now but please consider as sold
  22. Came off my Cabronita bass. Needed a threaded saddle to sort pickup/string spacing issue. Doesnt come with screws unfortunately but if replacing a BBOT bridge you will already have some 😊. £20 posted in UK
  23. Desperate price drop before the bass im after goes If willing to collect or can deliver locally id take a hit and let it go for £375
