1. I bet the Hartke paper drivers are made by Eminence.
 2. Lots of Pearl Jam tunes: Even Flow Alive Black all quite straightforward "starter" fretless songs. Especially like hte double stopped harmonic slides in Even Flow
 3.
I don't know why left-handed basses and guitars exist. I've never seen a left-handed violin, saxophone, piano, trumpet, etc etc, etc. Alex
I know someone who is convinced she has seen a left-handed piano. If anyone would care to enlighten me and show the world she was right, feel free. But yes, load of old tosh for all the "classical" instruments, innit?
 4.
Anyone else left-handed and plays right
Yup, me. And Mark King. He's quite a good player, you may have heard of him (Only came to light last week he's a leftie tho, see pics of him signing the Retroglide protos on the Status website...)
 5.
1. Sei Jazz 5; too many of these being sold here lately, guess they look great but are too clean and polite sounding unless you play in a jazz-fusion trio? 2. Ashdown amps & cabs; wooly sound, pointless retro design, not easy to get a decent sound out of and definitely a case of 'style over substance'. 4. Bartolini pick-ups; bland, polite & sterile. Definitely massively over-used and over-rated!
Blimey, I don't log in for a couple of days and 12 pages happens... Haven't read it all yet but I'll start with you Nik 1. No idea, never (knowingly) heard one 2. Yep, agree. 3. Nope, loved the Barts I had in my MIM Jazz 5. As for my choice - Ashdown. Now, I will read the 12 pages......
 6.
Friday bump
Any pics yet? Stingrayfan was looking for one of these
 7. That is silly money, someone young and strong should buy this for their first big rig!
 8. Paul is also still overseeing the set-ups etc for Charlie Chandler's Guitar Experience so he can't (yet) focus solely on Wal I guess...
 9. Was speaking to Phil Mulford last night at a gig of his, he was at Paul' s place a week or so ago and there are a number of Wal bodies and necks in various states of finish hanging on the walls. Yay!
 10.
MB1. ...i'll Get coat!
How many coats do you have?
 11. More news soon on plans for this bash, it should be a good one
 12. Hi guys, My function band has a gig in Reigate (Surrey) on October 3rd. I'm on holiday, (hopefully) sunning myself in Rhodes. My normal dep can't do it so I need to ask a massive favour of someone here. Thing is, this gig is a birthday party for a friend of ours. Therefore, 3 things: 1) it's a freebie 2) it'll be a crap venue 3) it's a freebie Anyone local enough, free on Friday 3rd October and wanting a silly gig? Drinks etc will be free, you can use my bass amp if you don't want any hassle of bringing your own and all you'd need to do is turn up, laugh at the rest of the band for 2 one-hour sets, drink some free beer and go home. Songs are all easy, ranging from the Beatles, Stones, Free, Van Morrison etc through to Bon Jovi, Guns'n'Roses, Robbie Williams, Mark Ronson/Amy Winehouse. Bit of a lame one I know, but I promise you'll be the first person I call next time around when there's proper money involved (and that WILL happen as I seem to be the only guy who ever deps out the gigs...)
 13. Nice!
 14.
Merton - your Retro Active J is just SEXUAL!! Loved it when I played it at the basschat bash, top stuff mate!

Tasty. Very tasty.

Merton's bass is ok I spose....! Actually, tis a peach! Mmmm!!
Cheers peeps More porn at the SE Bash if you're able to make it
 15. Hello! Pics of this "US Masters" bass please! Never heard of them!
 16. +1 for the moulded ones, like Alex the best "music gear" I have spent money on. Going to swap the 15s for 25s which my guitarist has - he didn't like the 25s but I am beginning to think I need them!
 17.
Final installment time. I've put on a few labels (rating plate, output/load info plus the standard 'arse covering' one about not using it in the bath etc.) and it's all ready to go. Final pic before boxing it up: Nice snug fit in its shipping box, on the way to its new owner So, any requests for the next project? Andy
Utterly brilliant. How much?
 18.
Depends whats on them when they're played.
Back on topic. I've often thought of doing something similar (clean and dirty rigs) but have never actually had the chance to do it satisfactorily in a live situation.
 19.
Either way, i bet it'll sound ace as tits.
What do tits sound like? At the moment, mostly "Ow! Get off!"
 20.
I'm not sure about that. However my amp does say 150 watts (300 watt RMS). That might be what could cause some confusion?
Are you sure it doesn't say 150W RMS (300W peak)? Seems more likely knowing Trace and their numbering systems.
 21. Huzzah, nice and easy. I suspect not many other boards will be quite so easy to do tho! Maybe the older (80s) Trace stuff?
 22. Alex's custom RIM bass
 23.
Nope... electrickery all the way!
Go on then, tell us...
 24.
but this is the man who will soon have a bright yellow P
Too much sugar in your blood mate, I'd drink some water.
 25.
I once enquired about having castors fitted to my old one (since sold it to a mate) but Trace advised against it, claiming the vibration in transit could damage the valve stage. To be honest, given the weight, I think I'd have taken the chance. They are indeed very good combos; extremely punchy.
Interesting.... Neither of my V-Types have suffered. Yet.
No interest, which is a shame. He's put it back in storage for the time being and will try again when the 2nd hand market improves.
Shame indeed.
