  1. Think I added myself a few hours ago, just waiting to be approved A few people nearish to me it seems
  2. No indeed, but in terms of “without EQ influence from the preamp controls” this is the answer
  3. There is a EQ bypass button, use that.
  4. This was the cause of tinnitus in Reigate on Friday: (and yes, I know I need to sort matching grilles!)
  5. Last night was the debut of my new pub rock band. We do songs we like, rather than all the old cliches*, so it’s a bit of an experiment, but we went down well and had a blast. *we had to throw a few cliches in of course but mostly we are doing new bands, or less well-known songs by well known bands. Two weeks ago our drummist broke his leg, so our second guitarist, the sickeningly talented git that he is, moved across to drums. Meant one guitar only but I managed to fill the sound out because my rig is stupidly loud and fat. Sorry everyone in Reigate, if you’re deaf this morning that was my fault 😳
  6. They did. Not sure either brand have any official UK support thesedays but for a secondhand amp purchase you don’t necessarily need that. If it were my choice I’d go for the Nemesis too, I had both the 320 and 650 heads at one time or another and they have that gorgeous sweet Eden tone. I did (at the time) feel the 320 was a little underpowered but that was more because I’d come from Trace where all the volume was in the first 1/4 of the control’s movement, and I was a naive 20-something. Hartke have always been an “ok” amp in my eyes - the LH500 was great - but the others just felt a bit sterile and lifeless.
  7. Yes. Well, he was talking about his fanned fret Mayones bass and heaping praise on my Zoot - of whom he’d never heard - and then when he saw my HX Effects he was excited about that too. Nice guy, can play better than me, clearly knew the band as he said he wanted to sing the Arctic Monkelys song as he had more of a northern accent than Matt 😅
  8. Never played there before but it was great! Even with the pressure of the bass player dude standing right in front of me - I just concentrated on the lovely lady instead 😅
  9. Just back from a loud, rowdy pub gig looking after the bass seat for @Graham again. Got to use my newly acquired Two10S (thanks again @RickW!) with the other already in my possession. Sounded marvellous! Crowd were great (especially the lovely lady dancing right in front of me, ahem) and the dude who took this pic - a fellow bassist who was probably horrified at my sloppy playing 😀
  10. Just bought a Barefaced Two10S from Rick, couldn’t be happier. Lovely guy, very easy deal. Watch out for the Sandberg he may be selling soon, it’s lush 😀
  11. Fair points. I suspect a Peavey utilise the same designs as their pro audio power amps etc, so the video is just marketing-speak, but even then the economies of scale are vastly different from the ICE range.
  12. Still none this side of the pond - looks like late 2022 or even 2023 before they appear. I am still very interested as I love the Elf so if this can do that but with bucketloads more power then I think I need one in my life 😀
  13. I'll let you know after the first gig
  14. Weird again. I was in a blues band called Psychedelic Smith for all of 5 minutes. We rehearsed once then Covid ruined everything!
  15. That's odd (or maybe it really isn't), my newest band is Wednesday's Child My history: Piglet Clone - late teens original rock band. Had some (but not enough) great songs and we split when we went our separate ways into university/army etc Freaky Blue Monkey - first attempt at an original band at uni 23 Beasts - second attempt at an original rock band at uni Back In The Day - a boringly-named function band which lasted 2002 - 2016, when our singer stole £4.5k from us and we fell apart InSoFar - original alternative rock, I was in the bas seat for a year but a personality clash made me decide to move on Cengiz - named after the guy who wrote the songs. Pop/rock, some cringingly awful cheese and some quite good. We made it to the Exit Festival in Serbia in 2006. Quit in 2010 after my son was born. Boogie Monsters - live music for kids. Quite successful at melding nursery rhymes with pop songs. Beginning to think a man in his mid-40s bouncing around trying to entertain 6 year olds is a bit weird though.... Youths - original pop/punk, started by the male singer from Back In The Day when he recorded a set of songs himself. In theory still going, but Covid has definitely slowed us to a crawl The Uproar - new function band, same musicians as Boogie Monsters and born from a wedding where there were 30 kids and 40 adults. We did a Boogie Monsters set for the kids then a couple of "grown up" sets for the adults later on. Can't really call it the "adult" version of Boogie Monsters because, well... Wednesday's Child - pub rock covers band, but doing either the less obvious songs from obvious bands, or doing songs from bands people may not have heard before but that we love. First gig in a fortnight, cannot wait.
  16. Depends. How loud is the drummer? How about the guitarist(s)? Is this for stage monitoring only (i.e. bass will also go through the PA) or do you need the bass rig to fill the venue?
  17. Ah, would love to go for it but my amp funds are tied up in getting another Barefaced Two10 and a crazy mini-valve project with Stoneham!
  18. Probably my favourite Alpher creation. Glorious. GLWTS!
  19. Which courier was used? There've been all sorts of shenanigans in Europe with various couriers going on strike - TNT in Germany for example spent about 2 weeks in June refusing to move anything which was a royal PITA for the company where I work. Our Polish factories have had some issues with couriers as well, still citing Covid but I'm not sure how much is actually down to that in reality vs other factors...
  20. Yep - to be fair some have been better than others. For some reason I got on well with the VS212 cab but hated the VS112. A find the ABM cabs too deep-sounding and scooped. The newer white-coned RM cabs are more my thing but felt very limited in terms of power handling and volume capability.
  21. Ashdown. 1997. https://ashdownmusic.com/pages/about
  22. They only started life in 1997 so an early 90s one is a rare beast indeed 😛 But I think you've hit the nail on the head about variable qualities, I still feel (personally) that their cabs are not a patch on the amps and that really affects their reputation. An ABM with a Barefaced cab, for example, is something to behold.
