1. Bass related - My Bass And Other Animals by some apparently quite famous bass player And I am (hopefully) treating myself to some valvey goodness Non bass related just enjoyed giving my son and nephew some cool toys I can play with, like scalextric and WiiU games
2. Hmmmm. Sorely tempted. Might be a bit out of my price range but will ponder
3. Bit late to the party here, but I'm going with High'n'Dry, from Def Lep before they went pop. My favourite of their records.
4. The whole thing is dull. People who defend get called fanbois, people who don't like them feel they're attacked when they put across their (sometimes ill informed) view. Boring. Let's talk about something else. Quite why I posted today I don't know but if you ever see me post in a Barefaced thread again please shoot me. EDIT: if we all liked the same things the world would be dull. I'm all for people having their views and frankly welcome reasonable debate about anything, as long as it's based on experience and fact it's all lovely
5. Not really, just pointing out shortcomings in an argument is all If people don't like the cabs it is absolutley fine but, as with any product, tarring current models with the same brush as previous models is a bit daft. I would expect people would be crucified if they said they hated Fender because in 1982 they played a particularly sh*t one and haven't played anything by them since...
6. DarkLord - all you have said is the quality of your 5 year old cab wasn't up to scratch and it felt like it was built by a man in a shed. It was. The new cabs are in a different league, so to comment on current quality, when you haven't seen them, is crass ,IMO
7.
The reason I don't lust after one is that by all accounts they are very crisp, HiFi sounding cabs
A common mistake. Not at all true. There are a variety from which to select your favoured tonal palette
8. Surely just a simple "I have tried a few and didn't like their core tone"? Edit; I guess the closest is "Meh. I'm fine with others liking them, but - having tried them - they are not for me." Edit edit; of course anyone who thinks that is completely wrong, a total w***er, and must burn in the fires of Mount Doom for eternity
9.
I wonder how long a BF would last getting thrown in and out of a van twice a day.
3 years and going strong
10. My god that's tempting!
11.
The troublesome handles, the dodgy feet, the spewing of foam, the Radio Shack looks.
Handles is a non issue IMO, I have had it with all cans which use those handles. And they have been addressed on the Gen 3 cabs. Dodgy feet has been fixed with Gen 3. Aesthetics is entirely personal opinion and quite dull to keep having the same argument. Foam exploding is a bit of a concern though, and I'd want to have a look inside to see what's going on Let's not degenerate into another BF lovers vs haters thread
12. BIt odd! Drop Alex a line definitnely, he'll probably want to see the cab!
13. Slade Mariah Pogues/Kirsty Darkness
14.
Does anyone have any opinions about Compact vs Big Baby 2? The used prove of the compacts is appealing!
Depends on where you're coming from cab-wise whether the Compact will be right. There are a lot of people who like them and a lot more who don't, the lack of tweeter means it doesn't sit "right" for everyone.
15. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/223670-underpowering-cabs/page__pid__2295318#entry2295318
16. Love what I've heard of this band, great stuff and I hope they find a great player
17. Groan...
18.
I just had a quick read through this. So much negativity... they are nice cabs, sound decent and what not. If you don't want to wait, dont. Go buy an Ashdown/Ampeg/Blah blah blah - it's well known the timescales these take. If you prefer the sound of a TC - Good - use that, prefer the sound of Behringer? Awesome. Use that. Aren't opinions great eh? Life would be sh*te if we all loved the same gear. This whole site seems to be filled with grumpy buggers and nay sayers. It's a totally depressing read nowadays. All IMO before I get shot down in flames by the usual suspects.
All of this
19.
Hang on a sec. The RS210 has a tweeter I think? The Compact does not. Different beast entirely, both good.
Very good point! Different design goals I imagine
20. To borrow for a gig in Saturday night in Brighton. The deal is we need to do an acoustic first set for some reason and I have now convinced myself I will only do it on an Electro if possible, haha!
21. Ah you're all wrong, and you're all bastards if you don't use a Barefaced cab. I hate you all.
22. Well said sir. Trouble is we have had it with Ashdown, Markbass, Fender, Trace, blah blah blah too. It's just Barefaced seem to get a new thread for it every week
23.
Exactly my point.
Aye, the trouble with everyone's opinions is they present them as fact. Truly exceptional for you isn't the same as truly exceptional for me, or the next person reading this. The same argument just in yet another thread
