1. Welcome! I'm from up the road in Redhill
2.
Picking this up on Friday. Excited doesn't cut it.
Wohoooo!
3.
It's a brilliant amp. Very clear and articulate, but still with a lovely plummy bottom.
Don't say that. I have neither the talent, gigs or money to warrant one but I WANT one.
4.
Merton it says on the back of the cab that each set of speakers are 4ohms. I have a photo of the set up how do I post on here?
If each set of speakers is 4 ohm then the can isn't 4 ohm total... See http://basschat.co.uk/topic/169865-trace-elliot-bfc-1000w-bass-cab-for-sale/ Same plate on yours I assume? If so then check OBBM's wiring diagram on your thread http://basschat.co.uk/topic/259847-advice-needed-on-how-to-power-a-trace-elliot-bfc-please/page__fromsearch__1 because it explains all
5. Def Leppard - Release Me, B side to Animal Sung by their (then) guitar tech (now tour manager). So good that, legend has it, the Greeks flipped A and B side and it went to number one. It is hilarious, you need to wait for the key change: https://youtu.be/iB6xYQOPnkY
6.
I probably wouldn't myself... I'd set it at half, unless it was really obvious that that level was too low. But that is a general position I'd take...rather than it being this model specific.
Yup, this.
7. The BFC in standard wiring isn't "just" 4 ohm. It's split into stereo tops (two 2x10s) and a single 15 bottom, as per OBBM's post in your other thread. Unless it's been rewired
8. Ok so that's a single 600W stage, you can run one 4 ohm cab, or one or two 8 ohm cabs. Do not run two 4 ohm cabs because the amp will fry. As for your BFC, if it's been rewired to 4 ohm then you're fine but you'll need to check this as per OBBM's comments in you other thread
9. I think they are custom RoqSolid covers with the upgrades like padding and a Barefaced logo.
10. What about a GK MB Fusion? Lots of volume, nice and warm and dirty if you want from the preamp valves, headphone socket...
11. Urban Lions - you say this is pre-Gibson, but is this the AH600-12 SMX or AH600-7 SM amp? If the 12-band EQ SMX range I *think* it's 2x 300W amps, each capable of a 4 ohm min load. If it's the 7-band SM range it's one 600W amp, capable of 4 ohms min.
12. That would suggest there's something in this science/engineering then I suspect (in that we know the BF is well engineered and as I understand it the Eden 410 is as good an engineered 410 as you'll get; I'm casting aspersions on the TC cab here a little of course......)
13. No idea I'm afraid! Conversely on the pro side, Phil Mulford and I exchanged views on the BF Super Compact a few months back and Phil very much didn't like it, and said he much prefers 10s and 15s to 12s and this cab was no different in changing his view that 12s had too much gnarly mids for his taste
14.
Oh? What does he use?
Barefaced I believe now - one of their first endorsing artists.
15.
We wont know until top class people start using them... and shops start stocking them.
Like Neil Murray perhaps, and with respect to shops, Bass Gear (TKS) and the Great British Bass Lounge (Barefaced)
16. I'll get pictures of this next weekend, it's currently in the band lock up...
17. I disagree. Just because otherwise it's not Basschat
18.
Thank you for this review. No need for 800W for me but they are bringing out a 400W version. Seriously need for one of those!
Oh, bugger
19.
That's a far better explanation than mine. Frank.
Makes a change for me
20. Bill, Alex et al have all got the ears, they have heard what they like/don't like and what is good/bad about speakers, they have learnt why things break/sound crap/sound great. They have the science AND the ears IMO But I think that's what you're getting at isn't it JTUK; one without the other is not so great
21. Knowing how insane the BTA200 is I imagine this is crushingly loud! Really, really good amps IMO
22. That is a very sexy little rig. Nice!
23. TBH the tiny overhang when the Super Compacts are vertical doesn't worry me, so it depends how wide the stage is!
24. I can vouch for the ABM500 + 2x Super Compact rig. Stonkingly good
