1. Interesting! I tried the AG700 at the LBGS and hated it, but to be fair I was playing an unfamiliar bass and it wasn't exactly quiet there
2. Get that, the RM800 is a stonking amp!
3. Along with an Eden WT400/550 this is one of those amps I'd definitely have in my collection in a heartbeat if I had the readies. Sadly lacking them so I have to watch on the sidelines!
4. I'll get a family pic of the Skelf and Finn together but for now have a look at Alan's page - my Skelf is a 32" beast. Absolutely incredible bass to play and the tone is to die for. The bottom B is superb, dare I say probably the best bottom B I've played! http://www.acguitars.co.uk/project/0274skelf4/
5. £1150 delivered to the UK final price drop
6.
Alive by Pearl Jam, off one of my favourite albums and great to play. So what tunes are other basschatters enjoying playing?
Great tune! I'm currently polishing up an 18-track set for a dep gig I've got in France in a fortnight. My favourite song on the list is Love Walked In (by Thunder) but the whole set is cracking!
7.
Thanks. Just a bummer about Newtone being almost twice the price of the status strings. Still, worth a try. Have you used them before? DR don't do them. Neither do D'Addario. Much to my surprise actually.
Yup I have Newtones on all three of my ACGs, two of which are 32" scale. Mine are Nickel would but they are amazing, so much so I got a standard 34" set for my 33" Finn as well
8. Very tempted to get the one of these, it has everything my pedalboard has (minus the Line 6 wireless receiver!) and nothing else added. It's be perfect for my little trip to France in a fortnight!
9.
One thing that's annoying is that they're not selling single ball medium scale sets. They're about the only thing I like for my Alembic. Now before someone chimes in with "get something else!" I challenge you to find a set of single ball, medium scale stainless Steel roundwounds with a 105, 85, 65, 45 gauge. That's right, they don't exist. I found short scales to be too short as I've got a 30.75 scale length and cutting long scales down affected the tone of the E and G strings due to the 2+2 headstock. Frustrating.
Newtone? (As in ask for a custom wound set?) Also, what about DR or do they only do the Nickel Sunbeams in medium scale?
10. Thanks Ralph! This is still available
11.
Ah, Steve "Steamin' Clark. Has anyone ever looked cooler than that playing Les Paul around their knees? Happy memories of seeing him live.
I concur, save for the bit about seeing him live sadly. Oh actually, the trousers he wore on TOTP when Animal was released were pretty bad actually.
12. This is a superb bass, and a damn fine bargain
13.
First time out last night for my new rig and I love it! EBS Reidmar 750, Barefaced One10 & Barefaced Super Compact.
How do the One10 and SC pair sonically? Interested as I'm hoping to get another SC later this year as I miss it hugely!
14. I love the Super Compact, my favourite cab ever. And paired with a Rootmaster I can guarantee sonic joy and happiness
15. Definitely - do it! The LH500 is fecking superb.
16. That's an insane price! Someone surely has to snap this up?
17. Good news, I hope they pay in a timely manner
18. Yup it's confusing! Passive/active is out/in respectively Push flat/shape is in/out respectively All others tend to be clear as in in means on!
19. Weird, on all ABMs I've used you push the "push flat" switch IN to remove the preshape, not as described above. With it in the out position you get a huge smiley face EQ which sucks the power out of the amp as it's boosting around 60Hz or something daft.
20. This is insanely awesome
21. Seriously tempted to get one of these with another couple of BF One10s. Argh. Must stop reading the positive comments on the thread!
22. Nothing wrong with your idea at all. In general the combos are wider so the sleeve is wider than the standard 19" rack size but it can and does work very well
23. This has happened to me twice - the GK MB200 and then the Ashdown RM800. It's just going froma few prototypes to larger scale manufacture is harder than people expect. Frustrating as hell of course!
24.
I like the sound of the early ABM's, I currently own an EVO 500 with the white buttons ( before the II/III/IV models) and find it brighter and snappier compared to newer EVO III versions I've tried at my local rehearsal studio. The early ones don't have compressors etc and the tube preamp is more like a presence control rather than a grind/distortion. They can also be picked up fairly cheaply for such a powerful amp and in my experience are very well made and robust amplifiers.
Ditto all this except for the buttons as my EVO has black buttons
