  1. Yes that’s cool. I misunderstood your intentions I think! So yes, the elf can be used as a DI to save on an additional bit of gear
  2. Yup I have one, for the purposes I bought it it is perfect. Next week I’ll try it out at a rehearsal with a loud rock band just to see if it copes, but so far love it
  3. If you want a DI only I’d spend the money on something like a SansAmp or one of the many other dedicated Preamp/DI boxes as they’re cheaper and offer more flexibility
  4. Hello Nik! No money for new toys right now, got a few house things to resolve sadly
  5. Glorious!
  6. I think you’ll find yourself in heaven
  7. Hot damn that is lovely!
  8. Looks like a cracking set up! I can see why you didn’t like the BB2 with the CTM, I suspect the “best” BF cab for it would be a Four10. Great amps and I wish I still had mine!
  9. Brilliant
  10. Well they were designed by Dave Green, and I suspect they do little more than final assembly being the size they are. I would think all the amp manufacture is sub contracted out, it certainly was by Trace Elliot back in the late 90s / early 00s
  11. Watched it a couple of nights ago, it all became clear when I realised Jason Hook was an executive producer or something. There were so many guys it could have featured and ultimately you’ll never please everyone. FWIW I enjoyed it on the whole, the missus didn’t enjoy the fret wankery as much as me though, but she learned a bit about Randy Rhoades so can’t all be bad
  12. This is very similar to one of the (many) I am contemplating next year! Very nice sir, great Christmas present to yourself 👍🏻
  13. The BTA is a beast. Sounds amazing, needs a crane to lift it 😜
  14. Whenever I see it mentioned I (perhaps mistakenly) just presume they mean the preshape and that’s what I always have in mind. A slightly clipped mid cut sound. I completely agree many amps can provide this - Eden and SWR have a mid cut control, Ashdown have a very similar preshape etc etc - but for some reason the “Trace sound” is the one which sticks in mind! I’m only speaking for myself of course
  15. The classic scooped mids thing is where my brain is at. I don’t scoop anywhere near as aggressively myself but I was able to make the Elf sound like the Trace preshape (at least sound like my memory of it!)
  16. Agreed, the One10 is a truly remarkable little beast. I think I may have to get a second next year at some point...
  17. Classy rig, classy photo. Nice!
  18. This is going to be another absolute cracker from Alan. His limba bodies are amazing!
  19. So I now own one of these too, and gigged it yesterday. I like it a lot, very impressive power and punch, plus I managed to find a tone not too dissimilar from the Trace of old. Paired with my Barefaced One10 it sounds glorious, I suspect I could easily do small pub gigs with it and my Barefaced Super Compact
  20. I really have a feeling I’ll be joining this club next year. Some form of Elwood medium scale but still deciding on colours...
  21. It’s good at low volume, but my Hotone Nano Legacy head is better as there’s more control over the low volumes whereas this gets loud quickly!
  22. So I just acquired this from hen barn of this parish - a top fella he is! I heard Mick’s Elf at the SE bass bash and was impressed, I think this will be perfect for my gig in a rock band for kids, and for rehearsals etc. Saturday I’ll find out for sure... He she is, perched atop my delightful Barefaced One10:
  23. Steve is a true gent, I bought a Trace Elliot Elf from him and he very kindly waited for me to return for a short break and then arranged to bring it to a convenient meeting place whilst running other errands. Top chap!
  24. Ok now I’m sold!
