Useful info here, if you haven't already found it: http://www.ampwares.com/amp.asp?id=26 From the specs, sounds like a 1964. The year after JFK died, the year of Beatlemania in the US and five years before Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon. If you show it to guitarists of a certain age, make sure they've got a change of strides to hand, cos they'll poop themselves. Google '6G6B' bassman and you'll find loads of info. Really glad you've got such a nice amp to hand - almost as good as finding it in an attic . Now all you've got to do is get yourself a matching 2x12 chambered cab and you're laughing.
Yeah I had a look at Ampwares.com, seems like its a '64 alright. I wasnt even born then. Tried to track down the cab, a mate bought it from me way back then. Called him up but he's no idea where it is, probably got dumped somewhere. Ouch! So.. it has laxative powers also?

Bobby McFerrin and the pentatonic scale
Musicman69 replied to ednaplate's topic in Theory and Technique
I don't understand the point you're making. Surely the point of the video is that the audience knew what note to sing without being told, when he jumped to the third note of the scale. It all sounds pretty pentatonic to me...
Yeah.. I stand corrected. Wasnt quite thinking clearly at the time. That last half a light beer goes to blame! -
Well I had a look today, theres an earth wire so it must have been converted. The label inside says. 6G6-B production 66E (the 66E is handwritten) its stamped NC
HAHAHA oh no, it sounds like I am getting aname for myself :) To be honest, it changes hourly, ask Old Horse Murphy as he will confirm this. However, the whole list is as follows. I hope you are sitting down. Right, as my Warwick is so wonderful as a Jazz bass and my ESP is also an amazing Jazz bass, I might sell my MIA 75 Jazz re-issue and buy either a Lakland Precision or Fender Precision. However, as my Warwick is so amazing, I might buy a Streamer LX or $$ as my Precision type of bass. I am also having urges to get a Lakland Darryl Jones again so this might replace the 75 Jazz. However, I have been there done that before and have so changed my mind not to do this. I also thought about selling the Stingray and the 75 Jazz and buying a Precision and a Warwick Streamer but have now changed my mind on that. I might just swap the Stingray who's name is Keira Knightley for a black one who goes by the name of Sandra Bullock. However, if I did this, I don't think I could keep her as Sandra Bullock and would have to re-name her as Sophie Marceau. As of 12.10am the latest is just get a Precision, either a Lakland or Fender but this will change by the morning.
Its just sick.. really sick. ha ha
Yeah my index finger's throbbing a bit - haven't had that since I used to play BG with a bad amp... Looks like little and often is the answer then. I'll have to try getting 2 short practises in each day, see if that accelerates things a bit.
just 'Man Up' and work at it! Ah no.. seriously, best of luck and it sounds like youre on the right track. Certainly getting some good advice from BC. Bass and drums are as much about stamina as musicality when it comes down to brass tacks. Practise, practise.

Bobby McFerrin and the pentatonic scale
Musicman69 replied to ednaplate's topic in Theory and Technique
dont mean to upset things but he gave them the next note (in pentatonic).. so then they take the minor scale. If he'd given it in major Id say theyd have sung that. Just my thoughts on the subject. -
Oh right! I hear you loud and clear... Never had any hum problems with it thankfully. I had some work done on it a few years ago so the switch might have been by-passed but I cant be certain. Ill get it checked out. Many thanks for that info Skankdelvar

I stick to the open strings.. its easy that way. And my other hand is free to do other things.
Ground Lift Switch = Death.
Dont think Ive ever touched that switch as I dont know what it does! Why is it there.. Different power sources maybe?
-
Thanks for the comments. I didnt think it was very valuable but wouldnt sell it anyway. I gave away the cab years ago as I didnt like the sound.. bad move! Havent used the amp for years but yes it sounds great, lovely warm tones.. sweet.
Saw them at the 02 just before Christmas gone...shook the man's hand
Cool.. Rocco is the man! Ill have to get to the next gig. Would be worth a trip to UK, doubt if they'll come to Ireland.

Ah yeah.. my bass tutor turned me on to TOP last year. Lovin it ever since, heres a favorite http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LjrCV4Gnxw

Does sound like a recipe for disaster Im afraid. My advice would be to concentrate on putting together a good cd to sell at gigs and get tee-shirts done up to sell too. Some eye-catching posters to send ahead to the upcoming venues also. Even fairly small gigs can be financially successful if well organised.. best of luck with it.

neck issue on hollowbody bass
Musicman69 replied to RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's topic in Repairs and Technical
Im certainly no expert but it looks like its meant to be that way. And you say it plays ok.. if its sounds good too, enjoy it! -
* no offence, I hope, to our Irish friends. Including the group who 'persuaded' us not to play any further Irish tunes at a gig in Lewisham, since we aren't from Ireland and therefore clearly don't have the right to do so. I now understand this fully, and am very sorry. IMO you have "the right" to play any songs/genre you see fit to play.... thats like musical racism! Ok, if you play it badly you only have yourselves to blame. Have a great Paddys Day.

20 quid is ok if its quality cable. But it would cost at least €30 here in rip off Ireland for a proper quality cable with decent connections. Thats from my local sound shop guy. Maybe OBBM could give us some better options..
-
Jamiroquai? I like them but just check out Tower of Power... top funky band, some of the basslines are so close it could be taken to court!! Im surprised TOP havent been mentioned here since Ive been on. Rocco Prestia is a legend.

Middle and ring finger works fine.. give it a couple of hours practise and you shall be rewarded!
-
Faithless, With due respect, if you read the original post the OP asked for info on anything to do with right-handed technique. Maybe you should try the old 3 finger shuffle yourself!
-
Also for right hand you could try using 3 fingers, not the ring, middle, index triplets everyone does but index, middle, ring, middle.. etc. Try leading with a different finger each time. Its great for steady pedal notes.. ZZ Top style!

Thats a shame. I thought you were doing a good job for your late friend and you seem like a nice guy. Seems to be some issues so Ill have to see how it pans out before I make a donation, hope it resolves ok.
