This is what i was looking at for a direct replacement for one of my three bands, a Four band with the mid high & low. This unit is supplied fully wired, including 3 single pots, 1 stacked pot, knobs, jack and battery clip, which may be spliced into an existing battery box, as would be available, in most cases. · Single Knob - VOLUME · Single Knob - Late 70s MM style TREBLE · Single Knob - Late 70s MM style BASS · Stack Knob - MID / MID FREQUENCY SWEEP (Mid Sweep 01) POWER REQUIREMENTS: 9-18V, 2.5mA[/quote] The power requirements 9-18V ? silly question (well not a silly question cause i don't no the answer to it) is it 9V or 18V ?. Would it run happily of one 9V battery but just for not as long as if it had the full 18V supply constantly to it, or would it need the full 18V (2x 9v battery fitted) to get the full potential out of it ?

A fretless conversion is really not that big of a job, just a few things that you will need to take into consideration before you rip the frets out. The fact that there will be fret markers on the now "finger board" that are going to look out of place, if you can live with that (i can an did/do), the lines that are left behind are a bonus if its your first dive into fretless. Remove the frets and then you will need to fill in the gaps ware the fret wire used to be, i used a two part epoxy resin on mine (something like aroldite is fine) mix the paste an push it into the gaps, (trying not to get it all over the board but not a problem if you do as it will need to be flatted anyway) an leave overnight to harden. then using a file GENTLY! remove the excess, remember that you are removing the excess glue and not the wood! lastly finishing off with sandpaper (start 80 - 180 - 240, 320 should finish the job sanding wise) finishing off with a medium wire wool then some lemon oil so when finished it should look something like this : Next job it to re cut the nut, the nut will need to be cut down deeper to allow for the high action that you now have, to start with, before you start filing the nut blind, refit the neck an string it up to see ware you are with it, it might not need much taking off it, just take it off a small amount at at a time, just cause theres now no frets doesn't mean that you can set the action as low as, it will still buzz! Its the Novax system that keeps drawing me to take a look at it, It looks great over all but defiantly need to check one out for myself before committing to any comments about it on just looks alone. really don't no anything about them, like i just read the word passive an thought .....mmm ?? etc

Not long had a fling with Flatt's to quickly fall out with them and go back to rounds., but.... My question is that no matter if there strung through the body or the bridge as long as there all going through the same place then the silks should all start at the same place on each string ? Like in the photo the ADG are all the same length an then the E is a couple of INCHES!! shorter ???? Just seems a bit strange to me ?

Just keep your eye out on the used market, was not long ago myself offered an Stingray 4H £400, they do pop up now and again, for the condition that the bass was it it wasn't the deal of the century but was still a good price, at the end of the day wit a Stingray your getting a lot of bass for your cash for a tone that Ive never heard reproduced by a copy before (others might disagree but when i say copy i didn't say cheaper copy ) Hang in there an get the real thing

[b]A Westone Thunder II.[/b] It was fretted (if you can call it that), weighed a tone (you try carrying it home, think Cartman from Southpark walking home with a double bass over his shoulder, maby the sports classes might of been useful to me back then ) But there you go, possibly the worst and first bass i ever had contact with, it was pretty unplayable set up wise an when i asked the music teacher on how to tune it was just told "[i]use the piano to tune it, EADG, middle C is first key left of the lock, if you have been listing in class you shouldn't have a problem [/i]???? SLO neck Stingray or a Sterling

I know how you feel about the "stuck in a rut, not moving forward, un inspired plateau effect etc..." Been doing that a lot myself recently for some reason, tried all sorts , different gage strings, flat-wounds, rounds, steels, messing about with different effects, anything just to try and find some inspiration to do something different, but that only works for so long and then you are back to ware you started. Ive found (well it works for me, kind of) rather than going off in a different direction with another instrument (not that there is anything wrong with that), sit down an learn a piece of music that you normally wouldn't listen to, something that you don't even particularly like an hopefully will teach you something that you can apply to the stuff that you normally do, just add a twist of something different into it ! Thats was pointed out to me in the past an worked for me so when ever I'm in uninspired mode thats what i go for Just my opinion and hope it helps some.
