1. Pick guard, Yeah its a bit of a tough one as they both look good ..... I'm about 51% toward the pearl ..............
2.
Ah not the thread I was expecting from the thread name, As you were....…
never mind £50 for anything cant be bad so give it a go, can always sell it
3. Thanks for the replies, interesting !
4.
I love the headstock GW.
Defiantly ! Headstock looks great an the tuners !!! Nice one Fran !
5. Thanks so far. I should of been more specific of what i was asking in the OP, just wanted to no what the distance between the strings are on both for a mental comparison, like in the pictures, thats the nut of my Stingray and its exactly 11mm between the strings, I'm guessing that the Precision is about the same (11mm) an the jazz less (9.5mm ? 10 maby) Thanks again !
6. Id bit a bit wary of buying a bass off anybody who quoted the strings being in good condition as a selling feature Get a refund.
7.
I'd take it a bit further & have it semi-hollow with an f-hole, Tele Thinline stylee.
That would work very well with the concept, Nice one !
8. Whats the string spacing on a Precision and a Jazz at the nut ?
9. Interesting concept but naw not for me
10.
Just a few drops of white Titebond glue. Your right in saying that the nut should be in tight. So tight, in fact, that you can lift the whole bass by the nut!
Is the white Titebond that you mention, is it slightly elasticity, (got a bit of give in it) ? Super glue as mentioned is something that i was thinking of using (seems logical to use it) but would of thought that once it was set it would crack after a short amount of time due to the nature of it (sets hard with no give in it) But any glue used is only like crossing T's dotting I's etc as the fit of the nut into its slot needs to be a 100% perfect fit anyway. Thanks to all for contributions.

Nut Glue

As a follow on from the "Best Nut Material" thread i was wondering what glue / adhesive is used to hold them down with ? I no the fitting has to be 100% so that the nut is a perfect fit into the slot it sits in with zero gaps, not loose, and not hammered in tight (a perfect fit etc). So with that said any adhesive that is used, its job is to finish the job of with and NOT the only thing thats holding the nut in place. So what is used ?
12. Heres a link to the FAQ site http://www.ernieball.com/faq/4-MusicMan-Bass-Guitars-FAQ#43
13. Check your pickup height is the best place to start. Measure from the top of the pickup cover (plastic not the poles) to the bottom of the string an set it to 6/32 on both sides, then if still sounding weak on the G side take it up slightly to about 5/32. The full FAQ with the factory set up speck is on the EBMM website Good luck !
14. Yup you wont go far wrong with a HH Stingray, Twice the fun as a single H (kind of) An I'm another one who favors a rosewood board over a maple, but have heard good things about them
15. Its a bit like comparing a 4 string to a 5 string, its a totally different animal and should be approached as such. Just check a few out an see what you think for yourself
16. Cant be bad ! Nice unexpected bonus ........ Here is the start of Dingwall #4 (I'm not joking
17. First bass owned = Crappy no name P copy (possibly a Kay?) Go to Bass = Either Stingray depending on what mood I'm in or what ever is nearer. My Bass = Buttercreme Stingray.
18. Link for bridge http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=122853
19. Cant find the link for the one i found in the UK, cant find the advert on ebay either so I'm guessing its either sold of been removed. Heres another link though, think its the same as the one i posted before but here it is again anyway http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USA-FENDER-PRECISION...=item35aff4776a The postage is pretty steep though but might be worth contacting them an seeing whats what etc . An i no for sure that if you look on here under the parts for sale thread Grand Wazoo is selling off a few bits an pieces at the min an one of the items hes selling is a Bad Ass III think it is (might be a II ?) could be worth checking that out as well.
