That's interesting! We were invited to join the session but as we have a battery we tend to use 0kWh during 4pm-7pm. I'll try a forced export next time and see what happens... I was actually paid to not play bass once - because the lead singer was Irish, someone booked the band thinking we were an Irish band... and paid us off after the first set

Learning to play to a click track released me from band politics 😎

Once upon a time it was just folk, rock, pop, country, blues.

It does, though the mandolin player from our band is doing well on Spotify with 1,000,000 plays of his ancient Greek music! -
Stopping playing in my mid-20s, and not start again until I was 40

I just sold my Markbass amp and GR Bass cabinet to David. He was very pleasant to deal with, no problems at all. Recommended Basschatter!

I wasn't yet around in 1969. I'd have liked to see the Who, but I'm not keen in Sid-era Floyd. But Soft Machine too, I'm studying music and they keep coming up and it's a band I'd never heard of until last year.

Fishman "Platinum Stage" pre-amp and DI. I bought this last year as an upgrade for my double bass piezo but quit the band before it got any real use. All original packaging and in good condition. Collect from Chepstow or I can post to UK addresses. £75, offers considered. Yup, we play Blackmore's Night covers as well as genuine Renaissance stuff, so I have all sorts of mediaeval garb that would be a bit weird in the rest of my life. My previous band was bluegrass so I had checked shirts, dungarees, etc. the checked shirts at least morphed into my everyday wardrobe.

Mark Bass "Little Marcus 250" bass amp. All working and in good condition. Comes complete with Mark Bass gig bag (that is designed to stay on while operating) and Mark Bass twin pedal to switch EQ channels. Collect from Chepstow area. I may be able to post, but I'd rather the buyer has a chance to try it when collecting.

GR Bass AT110 carbon fibre cabinet. Rated 300W RMS, 4Ω impedance. Advertised as the world's lightest bass cab. * price reduced to £325 * I bought it in 2019 and I've mostly used with double bass in our community big band where despite it's small size it held its own. One corner foot is slightly loose, otherwise good condition. Collection from Chepstow/Bristol area, or we may be able to arrange a mutually convenient meeting place. Demo can be arranged, providing I've not already sold my amp (listed separately). A speakon cable can be included if needed.

For sale is my Fender acoustic bass, CB-60SCE in natural finish. Bought new about 2 years ago. Comes with factory pickup, also Fender gig bag and Hercules acoustic guitar stand. Good condition, all working. It spent some time at my local guitar technician over the summer and had the frets levelled a bit better than the factory did. Collection from Chepstow, or we may be able to arrange a meet-up somewhere mutually convenient.

I bought some car parts a few years ago, to be delivered to my humble abode in South Wales. The seller provided tracking. I watched bemused as my parcel sat at Heathrow Airport for 2-3 days, then popped up in Australia. Then a week later was back in the UK and was eventually delivered. I assumed some parcel sorter thought "New South Wales", but if not it's a mystery.

Hey, I learned a new word today!

Blackmore's Night two weeks tonight. First time I'll have seen them after being a fan for a decade.

Covers bands - are they just parasites? (& how PRS works)
Rosie C replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
I didn't know we could do this. My current band mostly played mediaeval tunes this year, but we're rehearsing a few Blackmore's Night songs for Christmas - and we wondered how they'd ever get any benefit from us. It is odd how straightforward performing covers at a venue is (through PRS), compared to uploading the same performance on YouTube and navigating copyright strikes. -
Cheapest "ergonomically safe" and "decent" EUB
Rosie C replied to Paolo85's topic in EUB and Double Bass
I quite agree - at the time I bought it I was taking lessons with a classical double bass teacher and had a reasonable understanding of the correct technique - it very quickly became clear that I wouldn't be able to play an EUB so swapped to an acoustic.
