1. I've always found with higher quality tuners you get a better tuning response per turn and the teeth on the turning cogs hold your tune better. I can always remember a cheap bass I had in the past that had black painted tuners had a chip on the cog part, and I could see when it would slip back a few teeth.
2. sold Richard some strings. Prompt payment and good comms throughout the sale. Trusted buyer.
3. I bought these strings from Morecambe Promenade Music whilst passing through and realised i don't actually use this gauge of string after i bought them (schoolboy error!). The cardboard packaging seal has started to perforate a little but the inner foil packaging is in tact . Originally bought for £31.95 will sell for £15 posted.
4. I have 2 x Mackie SA1232z active speakers for sale. They served me well whilst in a previous band where we did our own sound. They're in very good condition, a few general road worn exterior marks from transport and haulage , but working perfect. These are a real high-end, top-of-the-range unit. Powerful and Crystal clear sound with 1300w of active power in each one . Heres a link to the speakers with a description and low down on the spec: http://www.gear4music.com/…/Mackie-SA1232z-3-Way-Active…/4LZ This sale is for 2 of these speakers. As you can see from the link they were nearly £1900 each brand new . We are willing to sell these at a great price of £1200 for both as it is now a discontinued model. I also have The Mackie CA20fx mixer for sale [[[SOLD]]]. Its In excellent condition, all channels working fine, Served us well during our time in a previous band where we did all our own sound. Again, this mixer is surplus to requirements. It comes with a RoadReady flight case which cost around £125 new. please note: there is a small power slot on the flight case that is missing, this does not affect the flightcases ability to do its job. Heres a link with all the bunf/spec for this mixer. http://www.andertons.co.uk/…/mackie-cfx20-mk2-20-channel-mi… Was originally £799 when we bought this. I'm aware that it is now discontinued so [[[SOLD]]] for the lot (including flight case) is a fair price. Due to the size/weight/delicate nature of these items, Pick up in person only , may be willing to to meet within a radius of NW England. message or PM me for details if interested. If interested in buying both items id be willing to barter a price
5. It's mind boggling stuff that Billy Sheehan does. But I've never found it pleasing on the ear. Just a showcase of technical playing.
6. I just use high quality solid polish on my fretboards and normal spray polish on lacquered parts. Lemon oil is literally mineral oil (wd40) with an added lemon scent, So personally, I don't use it.
7. The last band I left was because the after-party was more important to them than the actual gigs. You can tell I'm getting past it when I say that!!
8. Thanks for the clarification Opticaleye. I'm loving the sound of the tte501. Just like using an old school tue amp with extra Markbass goodness! I still own an LM3 but it hasn't had a look in since I got the TTE.
9. You'd be surprised at how many people do, as well as drunken revelers invading band space. In the past I've had bass rigs and pedalboards looking like they've taken a dip in a beer barrel from drunken idiots . Preamp has 3x12AX7 tubes. Compressor has 1x12AT7 tube (same as the brilliant Compressore pedal)
10. I have a tte 501 , when i bought it i asked the store salesman if there was any difference/upgrades to the 500 apart from the obvious chassis design. He said as far as he knew it was exactly the same amp but markbass redesigned it due to feedback from owners saying the electronics were too exposed and vulnerable to any form of spillage on the 500. Any other owners of the 501 out there? if so , are the tubes easy to change? the only way i can see how to get into it is via numerous allan key bolts on the top?
11. No worries, I'm GAS'ing for one of these, but need to get rid of a bass first. Must resist the urge for now and exercise patience!
12. This may be a long shot, but are you interested in a trade with a high spec'd FrankenFender Precision?
13. I've tried nearly all post market bridges and The best Fender fit upgrade is the Schaller 2000. It's adjustable in all ways. String spacing, saddle height, locking function etc. Stainless steel , the only bridge I've ever noticed an improvement in sustain and tone. Closely followed by an aluminium hipshot a-style. Never noticed any difference/improvement with a babicz FCH or a badass 2.
14. I've had the pleasure of being in the support band for Reefs pseudo band Them Is Me a few times. They're all down to earth guys and even stayed and had a few beers with us post gig.
15. I went to my local music store with the pretense of buying the Lakland Skyline 5501 they had in. I noticed they had the Cort A5 custom sp in also. Did an A/B with them and it wasn't even a contest. The Cort was head and shoulders above the 5501 in every aspect, Tone, playability, aesthetics, weight, balance, etc. Being a big Lakland fan I tried hard to convince myself it had something on the Cort but I couldn't find anything. I left the shop with the Cort A5 Custom SP. I've never been much of a 5string man as I haven't found one that was comfortable to use . The Cort is the most natural playing 5string bass I've ever picked up. I didnt even have to think about it being a 5string when testing it out.
16. A band called Chicks On Speed who were supporting the Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Etihad Stadium 2003-ish. Absolutely diabolical, the amount of pints they had thrown at them throughout the whole 3 songs or so they managed to play doesn't even hazard a guess.
17. After much pondering over this I have decided to sell up one of my longest serving basses. It wasn't being used, so last year I had it fretless-converted to a professional standard by a well known luthier in the north (Dave Wilson). The fretboard is uncoated and unlined with all inlay marker dots moved to fretting positions. I'd hoped the conversion would give me the drive to play it more but unfortunately , Ive found a fretless bass doesnt have a place in my musical direction. The Lakland Skyline 4402 is a fantastic bass, it actually sounds better as a fretless. Very punchy and woody with lots of "mwah". It is in superb condition for its age (7 years old ). I don't think there are any marks on its body and only has a very mild bit of marking on the fretboard from fretless playing that could easily be polished or fine sanded out. I'm not going to put up a "nearest offer" on this. I'm after no less than £650 for this fine instrument. I'd prefer this to be picked up in person but, for petrol money, I'd deliver as far south as Preston or far north as Carlisle. Would consider courier if buyer organises it. Cumbria £650
18.
Man I am so sorry. I just opened my secong buying account with ebay and about to open a facebook and ebay shop. Nothing big! But I took the stance early on that I wouldn't send anything out for 3 days no matter what the buyer demanded. I wanted to see the money in the account and a confirmation email from the client that there were no changes. Because I got caught just like you a year ago. The good news is that the parcel was Recorded delivery. The idiot never saw his pickups, but paypal reimbursed him and my sale was secure. Hopefully it will be the same for you. You just have to cover yourself so no bleme goes to you and it seems in this instance the responsibility is clearly on the shoulders of your customer! Good Luck!
It's sorted now, the buyer was able to retrieve the red card from his old apartment, but thanks for the advise on sales. I'm definitely going to be more vigilant in future .
19. Dilemma is over, the buyer managed to retrieve the red card from the previous address last night, the items are finally in his hands. If I still had a head of hair I'd of lost a few patches by now, haha.
20.
You should contact the courier and explain the situation. They should be able to keep it at the depot and he can pick it up with acceptable ID. If that's against company policy, then it will be sent back to you.
I've contacted royal mail. They didn't really give a definite yes or no answer if the buyer could receive it. They said he needs to go to the delivery depot of that area explain the situation and provide some ID/Proof he lived at that addy and the tracking number I've given him. I asked if he can claim it without the red ticket, they said no.. .
21.
Did you put a senders/return address on the package? If so and they can't deliver, it should come back to you.
Unfortunately, no I didn't. It's literally the only parcel I've never put a sender return address on, I have gotten complacent with all the smooth sales I've had lately. So I'm also at a loss if he doesn't receive them. It's certainly a lesson learnt.
