1. Ibanez RGT6EXFX hardtail guitar Has EMG active pickups, five way pickup selector switch and is a dream to play. Fantastic low, fast action, excellent condition - no dings or chips. Includes a good padded gig bag. . [
2. [sup]OK - well i'm going to take an "empirical" approach to this[/sup] [sup]I'm going to swap the speakers from the newer cab to the older cab & see if the improvement transfers. [/sup] [sup]The cabinets are not identical - the newer is the 210T deep cab with twin rear ports, the older is a slot front ported compact cabinet.[/sup] [sup]The speakers from the newer cab are Ashdown "blue cone" speakers that weigh only a mere 2.3 kilos. Labelled "Blueline" HK02046 100 watt 16ohm driver with 1 3/4 " coils that appear to e very similar to the Celestion BL10-100 (?BL= Blueline????).[/sup] [sup]So I'll be busy unscrewing/soldering etc.[/sup] [sup]I'll post again when I see if the improved sound transfers or whether the deep cab makes the difference.... who knows, maybe the older tired speakers in the deep cab will get a new lease of life & the newer, perhaps more sensitive ones may balance out in the smaller cabinet....[/sup] [sup] [/sup]
3. Good morning Phil - that's a good idea - I'll try Ashdown direct - I never thought of that - a good lateral move - maybe won't be too expensive. Thinking about it I did get a fresh set of speakers off them - these that I'm looking to change are, in fact, replacements from some years back as a DJ blew the original set up....
4. http://www.laauser.com/celestion/downloaddocs/celestion/guitar/BL10-100.pdf It was this one, the BL10-100, but with16 ohm impedance
5. Hey thanks for that LawrenceH - I would be putting around 150/175 watts in - not the max total rating of 400, that's for sure. Celestion also do a 100watt version, I've just found, so that may be better, running them at around 2/3 of their rating, rather then under driving them? The existing 10's have had a lot of use for quite a long period of time, and may be" tired", or the new r MAG 210T cabinet may just have better spec speakers....
6. Oh - what a shame - they are Adobe acrobat 7.0 files - is there another way to display these?
7. I'm looking to replace tow 10" drivers in my Ashdown Mag400 210T bass combo. The existing speakers sound very tired/poor volume when doing an A/B test with a fairly new MAG210T. It's all a question of money, of course. I can get a really good deal on 2 new, boxed Celestion BL 10-200S speakers - I contacted Celestion for the spec sheet & it's attached below. I also attach the spec sheet for the original SICA (Italian) speakers that are in the cabinet now. (Z006540 - obsolete unit ) They are both 16 ohm speakers, and the pair would be wired in parallel to give an 8 ohm cabinet. The Celestion speakers, whilst weighing an extra 1.8 kilos each, have a sensitivity of 97 db, the old SICA speakers have only 91.6 db , so the Celestions should be louder, and they have greater power handling. Does anyone have any experience with the Celestions, or can you spot any drawback in the spec sheet data? I also attach the replacement that SICA suggested ( Z005902) - this time a Neo 4 ohm driver, so would have to put the two in series, , but these are much more expensive......or do you know of any other 10" that may be worth trying? Any help gratefully received. Cheers, Stompbox
8. Just done a "swap" with Duf M - who is a very new member, so a great element of trust was required as we were both sending our cabinets off to each other by carrier. Traded my Ashdown Mag115 cabinet for his Mag 210T cabinet - he is a great communicator, all went smoothly and his cabinet arrived well packed & on time. An OK guy. Stompbox
9. Well I do like the skeleton, but maybe a little difficult to fold down into a handy package... I like the idea of a presonal monitor too, but even better would be a screen with lyrics on, instead of the ring binder I carry with me...
10. I was using ACS ER-20's. They were OK (ish) but cut some frequencies far more than others, and I was aware of having them in all the time. Our drummer said he knew of a better set he would get for me. They are called "Hearos" and the model is the "Rock & Roll Series". He got me a pair & they are brilliant - just like turning all of the volume down - they cut 22Db, and are really comfortable & effective - you can still hold a conversation, but they take excess/painful edge off in our reharsal room which is only small. Also they only cost £6.45 on Ebay..... ( & NO, I DON'T WORK FOR THEM OR SELL THEM ON EBAY MYSELF ).
11. Have ordered a set of 45/105 Legacy strings myself, so will see how they are - the guy at Strings Direct confirmed they are made by Rotosound...... Got to be worth a go at £8, and my G & L low E has gone very dead sounding.
12. I'll put my ten pennyworth in here - It's "horses for courses" with strings - they all have different applications. I do like tape wounds though - I have a set of Chromes on my Jazz bass for the oldies duo that I play in, but equally I've some Warwick steelies on G & L active for a rock trio I'm with - but the steels are maybe a bit too harsh! Might try a set of the Lagacy strings out - got to be worth a go at the price - thanks for the info.
13. Here is my Fishman BP-100 Acoustic Bass pickup for sale – it’s complete with the clips to attach the two sensors to the bridge of the bass, and the output socket, on its mounting plate that fits between the D & A strings– it simply clips on over the strings between the bridge & the tailpiece – see photo I bought this separately from my double bass, and did gig it with this pickup fitted to it a couple of times. I ran it through a Boss Bass graphic eq pedal into a Peavey Minx 50 watt amplifier that I’m also going to be putting up on sale. The combination sounded really good, but the bass has gone now, so the pickup & amplifier have to go too. I’ve put a link on to the Fishman site for information below. http://www.fishman.c...ght-bass-pickup The pickup is complete in its original box with the manual, mounting clips, foam rubber inserts to keep the socket wire acoustically isolated in the bridge – and even the “Fishman Equipped” sticker to put on your bass case....
14. Traded my double bass against an excellent G & L Tribute bass plus cash adjustment today with Amalfi. Really good communicator, top bloke - highly recommended. Stompbox.
15. Sounds interesting - looking forward to pics. Where are you in the North West?
16. Here’s my Andreas Zeller full size (4/4’s) double bass up for sale – I thought I’d be playing more on a full double bass when I bought it, but it just isn’t getting used - I’m mainly playing bass guitar with occasional outings on my WAV4 electric upright. The bass is in great condition – and as it is a few years old and has been gigged it does have a few marks here and there – “nibbles” round the edges mostly – but there is nothing serious (no splits or cracks). There is one mark on the upper bout (the side nearer to you as you play it) where someone had put a big “dink” into it about the size of a 10p piece– it has been filled, stained & polished – I’ve put a close up of this in the pictures. It has a good set of Thomastik Infeld Spirocore strings on it with a new low E just fitted. It has a great sound – it’s a powerful instrument and it has a good mellow, woody tone (to my ears, anyway). The bass dates from 2000/2001 and was originally from Booths Music shop in Bolton, bought for over £1100. I’ve looked back at other Zeller bases on here, and the asking price seems to be £750 to £850, depending on “accessories”, and those prices are going back to 2007/2009, so I’m looking for Price Drop to £725 – I’m looking to sell as I could do with realising some of the cash I have tied up in equipment, but may trade for a Precision bass with maple fretboard - give me a shout. In with this price I’m including a soft zip up case for the bass which cost £50, a decent French style bow and rosin, plus a soft fabric cover for the bow. I also have a Westbury Padded Bass Bag with Wheels which cost about £150, and I will be selling this separately once I’ve sold the bass – I will be looking for £80 for this, unless you want to buy this with the bass in which case I would offer the combined price of £775 (that’s £30 off). There is a link below to this model of case for information. http://www.amazon.co...7XKNBH9MNX8SHS0 I’m in Morecambe – you’re welcome to fix up to come & see & try it, or, if you are seriously interested I do go over to Manchester every two or three weeks & could possibly bring the bass with me....... anyway get in touch & we’ll see what can be arranged.
