2.
i just finished darkeníng a fretboard after a paintjob on one of my nasses. i tried several recommendations i found on forums but the best results i found black leather dye worked best and you get it for a few dollars. i did not even have to mask the inlays on the fretboard, the dye came of nicely with white spitrit on a cotton swab. be careful though to mask the neck very carefully along the fretboard and lay the neck fretboard down to pain the sides, allthough i taped it very neatly the dye is very runny and i had to sand off several rund where the dye went under the tape. hope this helps, have fun!
Thanks! I'm gonna go for it.
3. I have an ebony fretboard, but it's not as dark as some I've had in the past, what could one use to darken it? Or maybe it's too dry? What would you use on Ebony - Not lemon oil I presume??
4. Mmmmmmmnnnn .................... those basses look good enough to eat! I was salivating at reading the thread title, anticipating something gorgeous, and I was not wrong!
5. World guitars - Isn't that the one owned by the legend that is Jeff Pumfret???
6.
No. I love Sadowskys, F-Basses, MTD's and such but realistically a lot of them trend as flavour of the week a lot of the time and I can't see them being a wise investment. A Fender is a good investment due to it's timeless design and the likelihood that a good Fender from the early 50's to the very late 70's will never stop going up in price. Most boutique basses depreciate massively in value very quickly, just like a new Aston Martin or the newer Ferrari's.
Yup. That says it all really.
7. Currently listening to New Avenged Sevenfold. I like a bit of Heavy I do also Michael W Smith. Christian stuff. Probably sounds aweful if you ain't a christian!
8. 3 basses. One amazing, one old hack and one fretless. Also have: 3 keyboards, 3 acoustic guitars, 2 chapman sticks, 8 electric guitars and 1 drumkit. Mrs G has banned any more instruments unless I sell something first!
9. Great features on those basses. I was down as SIMS about 18 months ago getting some LEDs on my Chapman stick, and he gave me a total rundown on them. They are very good, but I just don't like that body shape personally with the very bulbous sticky-out bit.
10. The where the light is dvd/cd is a superb album. To my ears his blues is top drawer and totally authentic, his Hendrix covers are as good as anyone and better than most, and what the hell, I even like his more commercial tunes as well. Love the trio best though, pure magic!
11. Here we go again. A 'bassists are superior' thread because we play the instrument the right way and everyone else is wrong. usual narrow minded stuff if you ask me.
12. I am smitten by your bass, I come back every day just to look at the pictures. Definite love going on here although it's all wrong for me - Never played 6 strings, don't have the cash, and I didn't get on with Warwicks that I have tried in the past. Can't stop thinking about it though ...
13.
I'm in Lyon, France. Depending on where you live, i can send the bass via parcel, or even bring it to you via Easyjet lol.
Too bad, I was hoping you might be checkoutable distance! That is truely the most desirable 6 string bass I have ever seen. I've never even tried a 6 stringer though, so I probably can't even play them. I'd have to sell a thing or two to raise that sort of cash anyway
14. Flea and John Myung truely awful bass players? My my, the standard of appraisal really has gone down here over the years. It used to be such a positive place. There's music out there that I think is cr*p, and there are musicians that I don't like, but I wouldn't go so far as to judge their ability. I think that would make me the least qualified person to do so.
15. If I had the money and the space I'd have that in a shot! Fascinating instruments, I've fancied one since I first heard Michael Hedges playing 'because it's there' (great instrumental) a couple of decades ago.
