Definitely a furniture upholsterer. There's plenty of places online that do the stuff for it. Loads on ebay as well. Depending on the cab and your cackhandedness it shouldn't be too difficult to do it yourself.

I've decided to open this up to trades as well as a straight sale: It is a phenomenal bass, very fat and gives an almost all-tube sound through my Genz Shuttle (and previous GK 700RB II head). The specs are as follows: Swamp ash body finished in butterscotch blonde maple neck with vintage satin laquer and vintage Fender sized fret wire and Jazz width neck Gotoh Resolite lightweight reverse action tuners Tusq nut Lollar '51 pickup Gotoh 201 bridge CTS pots, vintage wiring, Fender US jack, paper in oil cap. Chrome pickup and bridge covers Maple single screw tugbar Black single ply scratchplate Schaller straplocks Optima chrome plated strings The specs are exactly as per a '57 pre-facelift single coil P bass would be except where I have had to substitute for parts no longer available, such as CTS pots instead of the original Stackpole ones. I use this bass with a Genz Shuttle 6.0 and Schroeder 1212L and it produces are really big, fat, warm, growly sounds but remains very clear. it has really good balance and the action is pretty low on it as well. Being only a couple of months old it is in excellent condition. the only visible marks are slight cracking of the laquer round the jack socket when I was building it. The marks are very small and you have to look very carefully to be able to see them. Despite drilling pilot holes, I still managed to snap 3 of the screws for the machineheads. Luckily there was only one snappage per machine so it doesn't affect their ability to do their job. i was going to glue the heads back on but didn't get round to it. I think I still have the heads somewhere. When I was drilling the holes for the bridge cover I put one in the wrong place so had to drill another. With the covers on, no one will be the wiser but I'm telling you so that there are no nasty surprises. it comes complete with a non-Fender tweed case as seen in the above pictures which finishes the look nicely. What you are getting here is a made in USA bass but far better quality than a similar US made Fender IMO. There are no rough edges, bad finish or poorly put togeher components. it may not have the Fender name on it but it is twice the bass a regular USA made Fender is IMO. Make no mistake, you will be getting an extremely well put together bass that sounds absolutely fantastic. Not to mention that you cannot buy anything of this spec in any shop Bearing all this in mind and considering that there isn't anything else like this available off the shelf I have decided a price of £600. This price includes delivery to mainland UK,excluding the usual postcodes that attract a supplement. I am also considering trades for the right bass or cab with cash in my direction (I'm skint) or a straight swap. The kind of things I am looking for are: Fender or Fender clone Precision bass Warwick Corvette, Fortress, Streamer or similar Yamaha BB5000, BB5000a, BB3000MA or Attitude Ibanez Epiphone EB3 Peavey TL5 or 6 or Rudy Sarzo Riverhead Jupiter bass This isn't everything - in fact most of the list comprises of complete long shots but it gives the idea of what I am after. One thing though - I don't like Jazz basses. I would also be interested in 5 strings and fretless basses Cabs: Bergantino, Epifani, Schroeder, Eden Nemesis, Genz, Markbass etc The purpose is to find a large cab or combination of 2 cabs for gigging without PA support. MY 1212L is plenty loud enough but I miss the bottom end my Trace stuff used to provide but don't want the weight of the Trace. This list isn't exhaustive and I am interested to find out what else is out there so PM me with what you have and what kind of trade you would be interested in.

My Warmoth is really growly and that only has a single, single coil pickup. As far as I am aware, the combination of Mahogany for the body, Wenge for the neck, a hot pickup, having a valve preamp running high and digging in when playing makes my bass growl. 2 of the growliest basses other than this one that I have owned have had mahogany bodies- Epi Thunderbird & 30th Anniversary Stingray I'm a big fan of mahogany
-
IMO nothing better than a mahogany Stingray has growl coming out the wazoo

I have to admit that my Gothic Epi Thunderbird was the best bass I ever owned. I just couldn't live with the neck dive. Now if these ones are less susceptible then I will have one. Yes, people, you heard it here. The Epi T-bird out of all the Fenders, Warwicks, blah blah that I ever owned was the best bass I ever had. Dagnammit, another bass I want. Why can't we all be friends?

We all know that most songs follow the standard 4/4 arrangement but what ones are there out there that leave you stumped? Perhaps you'd like to post the here so that someone can make sense of it for you? The first song I ever had trouble with: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=MVymT10s16Q&...feature=related Took me so long to get it.

One of my favourites http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=LHZYY2BTXd0 Excuse the twat on guitar that thinks he's good. Now listen to the original and see if you can follow it! JB has one of my favourite sounds. Can't beat the jack bruce fart as its known.
+1 Isn't Basschat the most underated piece of Bass Kit.. And it's free!
Very true. We have a very underestimated pseudo society going on here with a wealth of knowledge. I would also like to add - Optima gold bass strings. Best part of £30 but will last me for a whole year. ELites are my second best string choice. Warmoth - assumed by the non-bass playing fraternity that they are merely parts basses but with the correct parts are better than US Fenders before they've even been set up. hint hint Unless the 3 basses I have left on my list but have never tried are better than my Warmoth, namely a Yamaha BB5000a, Warwick Streamer or Fender Fretless Maple board precision, there wil never be anything better than my W basses

Yes, small child man, there's no bass

I get this all the time and put it down to my awsomeness. I really am great and get all dizzy and tingly just talking about myself. In all seriousness, if you find youself getting dizzy or anything then turn the f*** down. You're clearly f***ing nuts if you're listening to something that makes you dizzy. Spend the £7 on ear plugs instead of finding yourself lying on the floor claiming that you were the one that invented the banana and other stupid sh*te.

I belive that the propensity to drink is equal to the crappiness of the band perfoming on the premises. We've just finished our Christmas residency and the manager jokingly asked if we could play crap so that the punters would go and buy drink. Apparently we had them on the floor all night so their bar taking were down. Yet again, the government is talking pish. Goes with the territory I suppose

The were a lot of quality issues between CLF (Leo Fender's company) and Musicman where MM wasn't happy with what CLF were producing, this ultimately led Leo to give MM the Spanish Archer and start G&L in 1980 or thereabouts. Later ones were made by Grover Jackson's company using mainly left over CLF parts until Ernie Ball bought the company. Post-EB basses have been very consistent so unless there is a specific feature you want such as the Flea bridge or string mutes, there is little to choose between them - oh yeah, they got rid of those hellish flat cut pickup poles that scraped your fingers in favour of the bevelled ones. There have been various changes made to the EQ, most noticably going from the original 2eq to 3eq. There's all the info you need here including all the rare and one-off stuff: http://myweb.ecomplanet.com/TOWN8019/
I also agree that his sig bass is never going to appear on my 'wanted' list!
Heard it all before - you were probably on the phone to a Warwick dealer after you posted this to order one Probably already got your first draft of the for sale thread for it organised as well. I have to admit that the P-nut one is my favourite. So glad that they got rid of that hellish Strat style jack socket on the Rockbasses as well and have decided to make them look like proper Warwicks. GAS free for [s]5[/s] 0 days - dognammit

I've not decided the bass' final fate yet but am tempted to take it apart and make a hybrid between this one and my gold one. Maybe using the neck and pickup from this one. Maybe stick the rest on the fire so no one can have it. mwah ha ha ha If it hasn't sold by the end of the auction on Sunday lunch time then that could be what I am doing. If you don't want this to happen then you only have 2 days to buy it. I know there are a lot of people on here who would like to buy it. £600 gets you one hell of a bass, posted to mainland UK. If it does sell then I'll be buying myself another Lollar pickup and paper in oil cap to put in my gold one

Frustration With String fittings
Delberthot replied to Murph_Orpheus's topic in Accessories and Misc
Warwick strings are designed to fit Warwick basses so will go over the bridge the best When I had my Thumb NT5, I bought a set of 4 string Elites and a tapered low B separately from the Bass Centre. rotosound also do a taper core string where only the core of the string touches the bridge - PSD I think they call them. JPJ used to use them. -
I'm a bit dubious about a front firing 4x10" with such a high SPL. If its correct them put me down for 2. +1 on the dull black box - my Schroeder 1212L has the blue rhino finish.
-
There's only 3 kinds of drummers - the ones that can count and the ones who can't. I have to admit to being a big drumming fan. I think I have more favourite drummers than bass players. I suppose its natural as we are generally the 2 closest musicians in a band
-
I sometimes find myself using my thumb for some slow songs or where I want more of a thud. I mainly use fingers but also use a pick on occasion, thumb and also slap certain things- not Mark King slap but more Larry Graham slap over the pickup rather than over the top frets. Sounds completely different
-
Wasn't it around this time that the thin neck versions were available? I'm sure they did the standard and jazz width necks Its been a while since I've been through the EBMM forum so I'm a bit rusty with dates

I had one of those until last week - 3rd Planet Waves cable to give up in the last month - 5th cable in the last 2 Just ordered a new one from OBBM

And the Winner is.........................
Delberthot replied to Delberthot's topic in Amps and Cabs
My plan now is to get 2 12" cabs and use one with the wedding band as a monitor and 2 for the rock band. I've spotted 2 that sound really good but need to sell my Warmoth P first, then I'll be selling my Schroeder cab. If they go before my bass sells then I am considering the same cabs as you have -

Fantastic - I've emailed them for more specs and how I go about ordering
