Leaving cabs in a car/van for extended periods
Delberthot replied to GreeneKing's topic in Amps and Cabs
I must've been lucky then - there have ben times when I couldn't be bothered to carry my gear the 5 feet into the house after a gig. This has been many times over the year so I've been lucky not to have anything damaged. Perhaps the differerence being that I have brought the stuff in and its sat in the house for the best part of a week so any moisture that may have got into it has evaporated - leaving the gear in a cold van and then transferring it into a warm gig without it sitting for a few hours will probably cause a lot of damage. -
There's a lot of trace stuff for sale on here just now and I want it all. Very reliable stuff, as is Peavey. Have a look on Ebay, I've found that most of the older solid state bass gear on there is peavey and trace so it tells you something that they're still going after all these years I just picked up a 1110 4x10" combo from 1984 and a 1518 1x14" from slightly later for £230 and its in really good condition having only been used in residency at holiday camps during the summer.

I am in the 'hate it' camp, its about as wrong a colour as you can get - kind of a cross between puss and sputum - Warmoth now do finishes in this colour along with matching scratchplate http://www.warmoth.com/Paint/Burst.aspx 4th one along from the top left - knock yourself out

The sterling and stingray have different pickups and the sterling has a coil switch thingy. until the Sterling 5 string came out, the stingray 5 string was actually a 5 string sterling by way of having the same pickups and aforementioned thingy. I much prefer the sound of the sterling but never got on with the weird shaped scratchplate. Having said that, the best sounding stingray I ever owned was my 30th anniversary 4 string The new Sterling by musicman basses are a bit like Squier is to Fender - they are higher spec versions of the now discontinued OLP basses. the subs were made in the US so are closer to being a MM than these.

Biggest Fattest Chunkiest widest Neck out there?
Delberthot replied to AttitudeCastle's topic in Bass Guitars
You could always get a Yamaha TRB6 and convert it to a 4 string. The first 'ironing board' neck I ever saw when I was young although not that difficult to play. Warmoth necks are pretty chunky as well -
no danger! There have been a couple of these on here in the past and I've had to pass them up cos they're too far away. I would've taken that off you right now. If there's anyone travels between Lincoln and Glasgow or Edinburgh then I'd be your best friend forever if you could pick this up. I've looked in the past and its too far to drive just to turn around and come back up. Check out parcelmonkey for courier - they'll take anything up to 1000kg for much cheapness as long as the courier can physically lift it, its got cardboard to protect it and my address on it :brow: bugger

Another forum member now owns it. Best pickup ever in that one - Lollar - sounded like 2 basses playing at once. I'm deciding between another Lollar and a Fralin for my Split P bass.

Well I've just had it confirmed that this bass is fitted with an SD vintage pickup and original 1977 /Fender tuners so I've taken it off ebay and decided just to get myself a new body for it

Its an absolutely fantastic playing and sounding bass but I absolutely hate chips, dings, dongs etc. Unless you're a clumsy oaf or an extremely unlucky oaf there's absolutely no reason how you would get them. That's what's putting me off it - sounds the dogs but hate the chips on it.

Looking back, I probably could've worded this thread a little better but I have a hidden agenda. The Japanese Fender is mine and I'm trying to talk myself out of selling it so I was gauging what other people thought of it compared to the US models as i would probably be buying a US model if my one sells but am I making a mistake? This is the dangerous season for me between the end of the wedding gigs and the start of the Christmas party nights when I have a lot of spare time not playing. The price I have it in at reflects my indecision as to whether I should be selling it or not. I did get caught out before when I put my Fender '51 reissue on Ebay at a high price as I didn;t really want to sell it but someone came right in and bought it. The rolled fingerboard edges really appeal to me on the new US models as it was the thing I really liked about my JV Squier but whatever I get I'm tempted to put a Fralin or ollar pickup in there anyway. Does anyone have any pills to sedate me until the end of the month so that i don;t do anything rash?

take prices out of the equation, most things can be negotiated - would you go for a US model just because its US or an older Japanese one or something else?

Below are 3 different basses, all offered on Ebay. I'm not highlighting Ebay sales I am just asking that if you had the choice, which one would you go for and why. Its just an experiment that I need to do. I shall reveal all later. the squier is fantastic and I don't like jazzes. highly recommended

Sting has 2 but I believe that this is the 1957 one which makes it one of the last of the single coils before Fender went with the split pickup style. I believe that his is fitted with a Seymour Duncan humbucker. This bass was the inspiration for my own Warmoth creation: sadly no longer with me.

WITHDRAWN: Trade: Fender Fretless Maple Precision

there was the small matter of them being in the wrong category so no one else probably saw them.

I cannot believe that I won both of these for less than the cost of my v-type combo http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT It was a 2 hour drive there and back but what I received were 2 time capsule Trace products. There are small marks here and there but they are in so good condition. The 1110 was modified by trace to include a jack to add an extension cab and another to be able to mute the amp to make it a 4x10". The 1518 needed a new driver so the previous owner contacted Rob Green (yes, that Rob Green) who told him to install a particular Celestion driver. I had originally bought the combo to sell on but I feel a challenge coming on to see if a 150w 4x10" combo with 1x15" cab can cut it at a pub gig.

an amateur practices until they get it right, a professional practices until they don't get it wrong many a mickle makes a muckle there are a lot of dicks around, even in a small town like mine. I've been playing in bands with my drummer friend since I was 19. If they're sh*t then we move on. I remember us autitioning for a band about 13 years ago. at the end, the guitarist said 'if you want us you know where to find us'
