1. Could you review the tune I said I would write and enter into the competition for this month but haven't managed to actually do ... please.
2. Bump £6.50 dedicated bass tuner... guitars explode if you plug them into this apparently.
3. Due to an incoming Korg DT-7 ,this nice little tuner is available for purchase. Traditional needle style and * shock horror* .... dedicated to bass !!! no g**tars here folks! Made in 1990's I bought it for nostalgia reasons, but I don't need 2 tuners ....this is a fine little thing and does 4 - 6 string basses.Has a switchable light for seeing in dark corners. Very good condition and comes with a box and instructions... It does have a strip of velcro on the rear but you could always take it off..I will leave as is. Also, you will have to supply your own 9v battery as I need the one I have for the other tuner! How does £8.50 sound ? This will include 1st class postage to your door, as long as that door is located on mainland UK, sorry I will not post to Narnia. Payment by Paypal friends/family or bank transfer. Cheers, James.
4. Yes that's right.... you have read correctly.... a bass guitar going cheap ... on basschat of all places! £60 posted Decent bass this for not much dosh and will include 24hr delivery included to UK Mainland only. A sort of Les Paul DC vibe about it (obviously for [s]70 [/s]£60 quid it's going to be much better than a Gibson...) and comes in a lovely tear-drop burst finish... brand is Musikus which even though sounds a bit like Mucus, shouldn't allow the onslaught of potential buyers I expect to be put off. Condition is excellent with just a very small ding on the back bottom edge and a couple of small specks also on the back. I do not know the materials it is made from... possibly a body made from Krytonite and a neck made from a broken off piece of the tree of Ygdrasil... possibly. I have treated the fretboard with lemon oil so saves you a job of doing it. Has a P bass style neck 42mm nut width, comfortable depth to it, 34 " scale... and a rather cool looking headstock also. Note that I will be putting the original chrome tuners back on as I put some old black ones on and basically have nearly broken my wrists cranking them to get it in tune ..... yes they are total crap.... note that 1 chrome tuner has a very sightly bent head and the plastic washer bit is missing, still works though. I also tapped off the cheap nut as I thought I had a spare one to replace it.... I did, however it was as cack as the one already on it. It does the job fine but might want a new one putting on.It is just resting in the slot currently, but seems stable enough. Needs a couple more screws for the pickups , and I will also be putting the original chrome strap buttons back on It has brand new quality strings on it, works well, I have set a lowish action, intonation may need sorting, but sounds really good actually thanks for asking. OOOoo and it will come with a free Roksakgig bag ... free as long as you pay for the bass that is. https://ibb.co/hc8KNF Cheers, James
5. Bought Davie's Harley Benton PB-50 bass. Recieved quickly, extremely well packed, excellent communication, and a guy who obviously takes care of his gear also. Recommended Basschatter.

8. Hello, Needing to raise cash soo.... Up For grabs is a near mint Yamaha TRBX 174 bass in Old Violin Sunburst. It is a current model, and is around £214.00 new from Thomann new. PJ pickup configuration, plays amazingly well, sounds fantastic and I would say probably the best bass you could get for this money if you are a beginner or are looking for something well priced for a new player. Comes with a new basic gigbag with tag still on it.... looking for £112.00 which includes: 24 hr signed for courier service to UK Mainland ONLY. Payment: would prefer bank transfer, or Paypal gift/friend payment if you want. I have feedback on here somewhere if you want to check it out. Off to work soon so will sort pics out tomorrow of the actual bass!...it is as described though, plenty of pics online to look at! Cheers, James.
9. After co-winning January's composition challenge, I thought I would put a link to my Basschat Composition Challenge music entries for anyone interested. They have now gone on to become Demo/ Sketchpad ideas for a forthcoming "album" due at some point! They are marked "BC Composition" in the titles, and there are 1 or 2 other ideas in the playlist also. https://soundcloud.c...demos-and-works Cheers, James.
10. Well done to Lurksalot, well done me, well done everyone else!! I thought my effort was a bit rubbish this time, all felt a bit half hearted when I did it!. I genuinely was not expecting this one to be so well liked, so thanks to everyone who voted ! I officially nominate, and will be more than happy for Lurksalot to choose the next pic, as I am much better at being inspired than trying to inspire others to be fair! Cheers, James
11.
Something I've long thought about in these here competitions is I'd like to know more about these guys who enter. What gear do you all use? Do you use a pro studio at work, or is it done at home on a studio held together with string and chewing-gum? How long do you spend on it? What's the creative process and how do you put it together? How can somebody do this on a shoe-string budget? And.. how long have you been doing this kind of thing? Just wonderin'
1. reasonably powerful PC, built by myself about 18 months ago... no prior knowledge, just watched loads of Youtube vids!.. and it still works!... A cheap and cheerful Alesis Q49 midi controller and a few, now ageing software instruments. 2. I'm not a pro musician , just at home... it's all held together with gaffa tape and blu-tac, ocaisionally sprayed with WD-40. 3. Current composition ... hmm about a week on and off...it varies. I have no nagging wife or partner to contend with so I spend my time as I wish! 4. I look at the picture and allow myself to be taken on a magical, musical mystery tour and take notes while I'm there!... I have a "sound" but take influences from many styles of music. I am a hard/heavy classic rock bass player but exist in a completely different sphere of music for composing work. 5. Everything I do musically is on a half-a-shoe-string budget, but I use this limitation to drive me to be a better, creative musician instead of being distracted into throwing endless money at new shiny things! (though it would be nice to sometimes!)... it helps to make much wiser purchasing decisions also. 6. It all started with a Casio VL-Tone when I was about 12. (now getting close to my mid 40's) . I have always been creative, but only "seriously" since getting a decent pc and software am I now starting to realise my music in a more satisfying and productive way. If it wasn't for this composition challenge, I would not have the bulk of "demo ideas" that I do to produce a forthcoming "album".
12. My trans-black Epiphone Les Paul Bass.
13. Haven't been overly inspired composition wise for a while, been tinkering with my bass and stuff as you do! I thought I would make an attempt for the new year! It is what it is! Track is called "Colorado" https://www.youtube....h?v=UKFt5B9HqyE Cheers, James Edit to add Soundcloud link: https://soundcloud.com/foolsjourney/colorado

18. For sale: Tanglewood Bassmaster Funk Straight Sale only. Rare opportunity to buy a Tanglewood Bassmaster Funk...... The stuff of myth and legend..the infamous poor man's Spector /Warwick Streamer copy. Excellent condition for an early/mid 90's instrument....it has the original wiring which you may want to sort out but too complicted for me...I can just about rewire a Precision bass! Upgraded with a 42mm brass nut, everything else is original. Nice and light so easy on the back and shoulders.I have setup with a nice low action.Has newish strings on it made of unicorn hair. Pickups have a couple of screws missing here and there but are solidly in and that be sorted easily and cheaply. It has active pickups powered by a 9v battery and the sound it produces is one of the best I have experienced....very versatile too...would work well for most playing styles. It has bags of punch, sustains for days on end and growls like a bear with a sore arse. I am open to reasonable offers. Just to note, meetups and personal collection is a bit dificult for me as my work hours vary all the time. I have feedback somewhere, if you want to check it out, but I can assure you that I am not a serial killer if that helps? Cheers, James.
19. Well, a week off work.... and I just can't be trusted to not do something musical... ! So while taking a break from original music writing and the composition challenges, I have spent the week doing a version of Tangerine Dream's Choronzon.. in between setting up and maintaining a "new" bass guitar.....might appeal to 80's electronic music geeks. (like me). https://soundcloud.c...ine-dream-cover Cheers James
20. Hello, Available for purchase is a rather lovely Les Paul bass copy in trans-red, with unbranded headstock... It is in excellent condition. A sad sale but really need the money to put towards some new music software currently. Not sure of wood or country of origin Far Eastern I guess but is of a very decent quality. Not many Les paul copies around nor at this bargain price, has a carved top with binding on body and neck in cream. Also this is a full scale 34". Other Features: Gotoh tuners 34" scale Bone nut 42mm trapezoid inlays Black speed knobs with Gibson style pointers Gibson style strap buttons new alpha mini pots cloth wire Xicon caps switchcraft jack Brand new Rotosound Nexus black strings guage 40 just fitted. Easy to play with a medium low action, not sure of exact weight I would say medium to heavy, fairly typical of this style of bass... It is not a bad sounding instrument, it's kept me happy,it sounds clean and bassy like a bass generally sounds...I guess you could upgrade the pickups though. Could be a very nice starter bass for someone who likes the les paul shape or a backup instrument...I would be happy to use it as my main instrument No case or anything else. Courier delivery 24hr to UK mainland only please, will come in box. As I work hours which vary a lot I can only offer postage but will say £12 and I will cover the rest. Payment by bank transfer prefered or Payl gift payment. Pics: Note that it now has the black strings fitted as in first couple of shots. Also note that it is a nice deeper red than the orangey red that is captured in the pics!
