  1. Here for sale is a Klondyke KII Bass guitar strap in pretty much new condition. All black with black logo. It's a really nice strap that is 3.5" wide and has 5.5mm of padding. 20 squids which will include first class postage to UK mainland or NI only. Payment by Paypal friends/family or bank transfer . Either is fine with me. Cheers, James.
  2. …… And I thought the Youtube videos were full of waffle. Sorry but I started to loose interest after the first couple of sentences of that advert! None of what he does holds no interest for me personally to be honest. I'm sure Scott is a great bloke and has obviously been pretty successful in his venture and I wish him the best for his business.... I hope it's made him a sh*t load of money , 'coz with that nearly endless list of requirements he will only be attracting those of an ilk who will be demanding a sh*t load in wages! 🎸
  3. Cs1x /2x are actually S+S synths , the AN1x is the similar looking VA version ...very sought after, but a few hundred ££ out of Matt P's budget.. I agree about looking at the K station also, certainly if size is a deciding factor. I think there's one or two on ebay at the moment. 🎹
  4. Got some pretty big sounds out of mine when I had it, and pretty easy to achieve them ! Either way, and personal opinions aside, the guy has 130 quid to spend, so that's not going to get him anything that sounds like an old analogue Moog Synth. Just worth thinking about other options also. 😎
  5. Have you considered something like a Yamaha CS1x or better still the CS 2x ?… way more fun than these stupid little mini keyed things , and the resonance filter is amazing...full sized , 61 keys, a set of knobs to twist and turn and experiment with, a boat load of amazing sounds, easy to program and sound massive...all that easily within the price range. Worth thinking about maybe? …. the Korg Monologue doesn't even seem to provide a proper ADSR envelope! James 😎
  6. Hello, Has anyone tried or own one of these ? I can find very little info on them, but I am guessing they are meant to be some sort of Sansamp copy... Caline seem to regarded as being pretty decent for the money. I'm waiting for one to arrive currently so will find out for myself at some point soon!... James. 🎸
  7. Basvarken I think I bought the thread back to life with my new and awesome '05 Les Paul. I love Gibson basses especially Les Pauls and I only waited about 25 years to get one 😐 I was actually looking at buying the Gibson Bass book the other day strangely enough. I saved it to my favourites list , there's a definite purchase coming soon 🤪 Cheers, James.
  8. Gibson Les Paul Bass in vintage burst finish 😍
  9. 1. I was really impressed with the Stingray's .. errr…..bassiness (?), to the point that If I ever have the funds I would seriously consider getting one. 2. EB3 for the cool look and its unique sound. 3. Out of the posh, expensive basses... I thought the Alembic was probably my favourite. IMO pretty much the majority of those instruments just sound very samey to me. Mostly expensive bling, lacking any real soul or character.
  10. Thanks guys, and to those who voted for my composition, I feel truly honoured as I'm convinced there were much better tunes than mine that should have won to be fair! I guess I must have captured something without realising it though? 🤩
  11. I'll add another one into the deluge of entries... not been feeling very inspired musically for a while. It is what it is, recorded tonight and mixed over headphones so probably all over the place !
  12. I found the biggest issues with the Super Fast Slap Bass lesson are : 1. Only one of the words in the title are relevant to myself i.e. "Bass", all the others including "super", "fast" and most certainly "slap" do not apply to me. 2. I got to about 49 seconds and the guy mentions the 6th fret?! WHAT!? what the hell is a 6th fret doing there.... anything past 5 and it's just not bass anymore! Just cos these instruments have "6th frets" and above does NOT mean we should be playing them !
  13. Gretsch hands down, I agree with the others that the most suitable word here is trounce . It has loads of character in its sound and is very versatile for a shortscale ... the Jaguar is ok but a bit safe and normal really for want of a better description!... I had a 5 string Jaguar for a while… nice to look at, but that's about all it has going for it imo! I'm in the process of getting another Gretsch as I stupidly sold my other one and have badly regretted it ever since ! Or to put it another way... if you want to blend into the surroundings with no one taking a blind bit of notice of what you are playing or even being remotely interested in what your role in a band actually is : get the Jag. If you want to look well cool, sound great, be the envy of your bandmates , attract loads of groupies etc : get the Gretsch. 🤪
  14. Slap? Never has a playing style said so very little with so many notes ! Personally I prefer basses that produce...err… bass, not instruments that tonally replicate the sound of cutlery being thrown down a flight of metal stairs. 🤨
  15. Learn that an active bass means it needs a good 9v battery..... before you go on stage.😒
  16. I was going to upgrade mine with a Babicz Z-Series bridge. An easy (but pricey) drop in replacement which I think is in general keeping with the look and style of the Gretsch... I never got round to doing it sadly though.
  17. The Beatles were never the same after Paul McCartney died. 😐
  18. First live performance for me would have been July-ish of '96. Classic Rock covers at a private first gig in Kidderminster. All infront of family, friends so that eased the nerves somewhat. My bandmates were all nearly twice my age and I only got an audition in the first place as my mate was the brother of the Rhythm guitarist / vocalist..and they were desperate for a bass player. I had only been playing a few months. On one side I had a guitarist playing through a Marshall 100 watt Superbass, and on the side guitarist going through a Hiwatt 100 watt Tube amp... both turned up to 11, while I stood there playing a Washburn B200 LP shaped bass through a little HH 50 watt combo.... Yes that's right.. I might as well have just randomly hit the strings all night , or not bothered turning up at all... it would have made no difference! However, it was a good first gig, I wasn't *too* nervous, and stayed with the band for about 3 years or so... ( and I got my own back when I turned up to a band practice a few weeks later with my new Trace Elliot bass stack !) 🤪 Haven't gigged for years now , mostly due to having to deal with too many cockwombles and not enough grounded, easy going musicians!
  19. Frank... Currently I have made the decision to just not play at all until I can get another Gretsch! I Have tried going back to "proper" scale instruments for grown ups recently in a vain attempt to be taken seriously as a bass player. Seeing that I'm far too immature for such things, I am now currently trying to sell off a cheap P bass type of thing that I liked the look of at the time (what was I thinking?!) It has just confirmed that 34" just doesn't look or feel right to me anymore.... I do not think there is any real sonic advantage over the sound these Gretsch basses make also!.....plus I'm too lazy to stretch my hand a couple more inches down the fretboard.🤪
  20. I sold my black Junior Jet, and without a doubt was the most playable and best sounding bass I have owned. It is also the one I have regretted selling most …. 😒 I am actually trying to scrape the money up at the moment to buy another !
  21. I play the songs first then tune my bass to compensate for all the wrong notes.... 🤪
  22. Roland A500 or 800 Pro... currently what I use and by far the best feeling midi keyboard out of a boatload I have owned.Overall it feels very well built... it has, among other stuff, 8 smallish but responsive pads.
  23. Cheers Skol ! It only took as long to do as what I would usually take to do a piece of music for the monthly contests to be honest,. It's not like I have worked on it for 2 years solid! 🤪 I'm not a native, but have lived here for about 16 years now... In the vicinity of H*rg*st R*dge. Can't be giving my location away 😉
  24. Being a big fan of the Classic 80's Tangerine Dream sound, I thought I would enter this one . It probably won't be everyone's cup of Tetley, but it's about as recent as my covers get.... Choronzon Cheers, James. Just realised it has to have been done this year?
