1. I've just spoken with the shop; The Decal is on top as it is a replica of a '57 & that's how they were & as I thought, the Nitro Cellulose would Fek the decal if it was applied over. That's why 50's Fenders usually have the decal worn away in places The Pick guard - as suspected, I'll have to perform surgery! The truss rod infill - maybe they're not all perfectly central? I've sent photo's for them to look at. They don't have another in stock, will advise me on when one is expected & will 'have a word with Fender about these niggles. Also said - if it plays well & is otherwise brilliant, well I could always get a worse one! Cheerz for the input so far, John
 2. My 2 Mexicans are RW & look/feel/sound lovely but my '51 P is one piece Maple & that for me looks/feels/sounds that bit better. My new '57 P is one piece Maple too & that is even sweeter! I haven't tried a 'stuck on' Maple board though, I suppose that would be more comparable to a 'stuck on RW than a one piece neck.
 3.
Did you pay full whack brand new?
Yes - brand new from a shop, bought online, I've been looking for 3 or 4 months, it was the best price I've seen one advertised & it was 'factory fresh'.
 4.
Sell it and buy a Status!
If I wanted a Status - I'd have bought a Status, in fact I was tempted by the Vintage for about the same money as the '57
 5. Ok I'm a fussy old bastard but why shouldn't I be? This cost a lot of beer tickets & I've got a few niggles, what to do? Pickguard, doesn't sit flush on the body around the pots - I think there might be a wire trapped under but don't want to take it off yet to see. The knobs were fitted oddly, one high one low almost scratching the surface, not quite, so I've raised/lowered those OK. Neck pocket fit - not perfect but I can live with that, (I think). Fender decal - I can see & feel that it's 'stuck on top of the laquer', I don't know if that's how they do it on Nitro finishes? Truss rod hole/infill at top of neck - Is not in the middle, I didn't notice it at first but it's one of those things that once you notice it's there in your face every time you pick it up! Apart from above - it's beautiful & plays very very nicely Photo's not brilliant I know but I tried to show what I mean. Your opinions please? Cheerz, John

 7. Still some available - BUMP
 8. I really don't like any roundwounds any more, when I get a bass with them on I can't wait to change them but I'll play it for a while, if only to experiment with the clangy sounds & reinforce my hate for them My favourites for a long time have been GHS 3060 Black Nylon Tape Wound, which I order from USA, about £16 a set + £5 postage. They are the best made strings I've ever tried, the quality & finish put many others to shame. They are very smooth with a soft flexible feel & I haven't worn a set out yet! Best of all - especially for anyone wanting to try Black Nylons they are practically *normal size*, 50 - 105, so not a problem to fit or feel. IMHO the best strings for that warm upright bass tone. If you've tried Rotosound Trubass Black Nylons & they've put you off these GHS are what you need, Highly recommended! Rexently tried La Bella Deep Talkin' Bass '1954 Original Oldies' but they are a bit stiff to me but I like the tones. Fender 9050ML Stainless Flatwounds 50 - 100, are pretty good after a bedding in period, a bit nicer than the La Bellas even. D'Addarios Chromes also have a good smooth finish but I only tried them for a couple of weeks on a bass I traded, so can't comment much. Another of Rotosound's I didn't like were the Nexus Black Roundwounds, the coating seemed to disappear almost as soon as they touched a fret or if you use a pick!
 9. She's here & her name is Carole - that's sorted - Bloody Marvellous Even the cheese grater strings ain't too bad
 10. Just bought myself a 'early' 60th birthday present, 'cos I've got this far & well - nobody else is going to buy me the bass of my dreams are they? Another reason, every time I see one it reminds me of my lovely 'white blonde' other half HaHa -
 11. Cheerz chaps, birthday is not until January, but it's the best excuse I could think of
 12. I've had serious GAS for one of these a long time, today I found one & pressed the button it should be here tomorrow Cheerz, John
 13.
Inches w: 34 1/4, h: 36 1/4, d: 16 mm w: 620, h: 920, d: 405 Weight is 55kg (avg) It will have a polished stainless steel grill and its dampened inside with acoustic wadding. The speakers are specially made 12ohm drivers that look very similar to Electro Voice speakers but they have the same T Numbers as Celestion so likely made in the same factory in China. I will have one of the speakers at Bassday to show it outside of the cab, as well as one of these 6x10's to show off. Please note after Bassday there will be a price increase so if you are debating getting one you have 3 days to make your mind up.
I hope you don't mind me pointing it out like but I think your w: "34 1/4" should read *24 1/4"* Anyway it's too big for me! Sweet though Bargain or what!

 15.
This one is mine: http://tinypic.com/a/24h91/3 It's the P/J configuration, and the three knobs are Pan / Volume / Tone. I rate this bass very highly indeed. The graphite neck has genuine punch, the range of useable tones is impressive, it has high output for a passive bass, and it's light on the shoulders. It also looks cool as anything. Not cheap, mind.
Hey Jack, That is one sexy Status very tasty Cheerz, John
 16. Maybe this will increase your GAS pressure? Status Vintage HC Haven't been able to see or try one yet, but Cheerz, John
 17. Hi Tim, I thought this would have sold overnight I've been giving it serious amounts of thought - I love the sunset orange over Ash but I really want an all maple neck to go with. Best of luck with the sale, bargain price, I hope there's a 'basschatter' ready to buy this before the dreaded evilbay. Cheerz, John Have a bump!

The necks feel fairly similar to my hands? what say ye learned ones? cheers
You're a limp wristed wuss No stamina these kids Cheerz, John

 21.
I can only find one for sale on google shopping, currently £475 I'm not sure when the Chinese ones are due to arrive. I'm half tempted to hang on to it, if only for the fact the value could go up. Who knows.
Lovely little amps, I've been using mine almost every day for 6 months now, I always get that tone & a smile No problems with it either. There's No.26 with a 212 on ebay for £839 so your's is a real bargain for someone who's got a cab already! And it comes with a hard case, guitar lead, tuner and (count them) three straps.. So maybe would cost £300 new...
