  1. Only wrong thread if you think not many people will agree with you. Personally I have no idea how popular/credible Pearl Jam are/were.
  2. If that's the playlist then feel free to invite me next time!
  3. Nowt wrong with any of those in my book.
  4. That's how I started it, so yes please!
  5. Yes!! It was for posts like this that I started the thread!
  6. It was either William Bell or Judy Clay...
  7. And wrote it the same day as Jolene. Pretty good day for her I'd say!
  8. I was working on a big show that the record company I worked for was recording/filming. Had a Brit School student with me doing work experience, so we went to watch the rehearsal. She said to me in the car on the way back to the office 'I didn't know Eric Clapton played guitar'.
  9. Heard a BBC6 Music presenter make a snarky comment about an act that has tended to get a lot of flack, so got me thinking, are there acts you feel are unfairly maligned, or, acts you feel get way more kudos than they deserve? Mine was the act in question - Simply Red. Great voice, great band, excellent songs, but possibly more hated than Oasis and Prog combined! I thought they were great back in the day, and still do! So, what's yours?
  10. This aged well 😏
  11. Before they get to his peat briquettes.
  12. Beat me to it - though it does still have the right number of strings!
  13. Your garage is a boomtown for rats.
  14. Lemmy and the Upsetters
  15. Chas & Dave backed Labi Siffre on 'I Got The' as famously sampled by Eminem. Chas also featured in the Joe Meek house band along with Ritchie Blackmore.
  16. Crusaders were the house band for Blue Thumb Records, and were on Hugh Masekela's Grazing in the Grass.
  17. The Upsetters - Lee Scratch Perry's house band.
  18. Indeed. Two countries separated by a common language 😏
  19. @Nail Soup 'Vamp 'til ready' - opening chords/riff/rhythm used by old time dance bands to keep dancers on the floor until the lead instrument/singer is ready to come in with the tune.
  20. Tangerine, Daphne Blue, Seafoam Green, Butterscotch Blonde, Fiesta Red, but definitely NOT Sunburst or natural.
  21. Great track, great bass line, great performer.
  22. Tedeschi Trucks for a slightly more sophisticated take on the genre:
  23. As much as it sounds hard to believe nowadays, Capital Radio. Nicky Horn with Your Mother Wouldn't Like it, Alexis Korner, Adrian Love, Roger Scott, Dave Cash - all big music lovers who would champion their favourite artists.
  24. Long before any of the above mentioned was Marie Lloyd, with lyrics such as 'she sits among the cabbages and peas'
