  1. Earlier Overwater strings were indeed made by Picato, but they must have changed supplier now as Picato went out of business a few years ago now. I know that they haven't found a new supplier for flats they like yet.
  2. You're getting your Paul's mixed up Chris, it's Paul Herman at Wal, not the Jamiroquai bassist! That would be our resident Wal expert and all round good guyTrevor Raggatt @TrevorR An excellent find if the price is right!
  3. I have decided to sell my Thomann Slimline. Better pictures will follow, but it looks like this. These basses are made for Thomann by Hora in Romania. It's a standard 3/4 size bass but the body is only half the normal depth, so it's actually much easier to play. Top: Laminated arched spruce Back: Laminated arched maple Sides: Beech Ebony fingerboard 105cm scale length It is strung with SIlver Slaps, and comes with a stand (pictured), a J-tone Big double bass twin pickup (£44), and a full-size and heavy duty Tom and Will gig bag. I sanded and oiled the back of the neck to make it easier to play, which worked a treat. The fingerboard started to come away at the edges but I had it checked over by Ian Robinson (when he was based at GB Music in Bognor) and he gave it all a clean bill of health and confirmed all was secure. These currently cost £843 from Thomann. I am looking for £450 collected.
  4. Noll preamps are fantastic, and @spyderis a thoroughly decent chap too.
  5. Pino played some lovely stuff on the early Nick Heyward and Julia Fordham albums that is well worth a listen.
  6. What about a shallow-bodied bass like this? I have one you can try if you think it might help and am localish to you.
  7. Exactly. A great bag for £50, but there are better options out there at the higher price. Although I can’t help but think G4M have got their prices a bit squiffy there - no way it should cost more than the Pro Go!
  8. Welcome Lloyd
  9. They've also put the price up on the Transit version too, so much so that they are now more expensive than the (superior, IMO) Pro Go bag!?
  10. It's a Pro Go X This is the Transit. The only real differencesa are the external material finish, a slightly less sculpted shape, and that there are no D rings on the Pro Go X. Oh, and that it's half the price
  11. Excellent, but how many is that now?
  12. You've got it on long term loan from a mate?😉
  13. I have two of these. They are the usual Gator quality. Decent neck bracing for angled headstocks too, unlike the Mono Sleeve. You can also fit more into the front pocket. They aren't top loading though. There's also a fabric version in black, grey or tan, but this one is finished in the same material as the Gator Pro Go range, so feels a bit more durable.
  14. Can this run on a battery or is it mains only?
  15. Not being funny, but they are different basses and I think should be celebrated as such. Why buy a Stingray to sound like a Warwick?
  16. Pretty much sums the Faces music up, and I like their stuff. In the spirit of the band, I wouldn't worry about being note perfect, just come up with your own line and enjoy it! As you say, "in tune and in time" is all you need.
  17. Cute rig. That image of the girl looks photoshopped to me....
  18. Now £230 Excellent two channel floor preamp with all the details here. Less than a year old and very light use. Comes with original box, manual, packaging and PSU. They are £350 new: I would like £230 posted in the UK. Cheers Gareth
  19. I sold Loz a Mono gig bag. Great comms, immediate payment, thoroughly decent chap.
  20. I wouldn't say they were particularly thumpy. The La Bella white nylons in particular have a very nice bright top end (jump to 4.30 in this video).
  21. How about La Bella nylon flats? Lovely medium-low tension and the standard gauge set sound full and fat.
