  1. Hello all Who makes the quietest nickel roundwound strings? I want to try rounds on my fretless again but like as little to no noise when I slide as possible! Oh and they need to be available in extra long scale (i.e. at least 38" ball to silk). Thanks all Gareth
  2. I may be able to box it up. Let me see what I can do.
  3. Two from me.
  4. Is it lined? If so, much easier to do than unlined.
  5. Combo deal: Buy both this and the Little Marcus 800 amp I am selling to create a super articulate and powerful mini rig for £900 collected.
  6. I would love this. If only some of my stuff would sell!
  7. Hi Chris! Yes, I agree. Having played it some more I’m still getting a hint of buzz, so I reckon you’re right. Going to recommend the guy has a pro look at it to be sure. It’s playing clean enough, but it could be better!
  8. The golden age of Smith basses, and that is a lovely example.
  9. It's an unlined board, but I think I've found the problem: nut cut too low in combination with near flat fingerboard!
  10. Hello all I'm setting up a fretless bass for a friend and I have it playing really nicely apart from one spot. When I "fret" at the 9th fret of the D string I get a buzz. It's the only note on the whole bass where this happens and I can't shift it. I've checked all hardware is tight, tried a different set of strings, higher and lower actions, and varied the relief, but it's always there. The only thing I can think is that there's a high point on the neck behind where I'm fretting, as if I touch the string behind where I'm fretting (i.e. towards the nut) it goes away. But can it be really so localised that it will affect just this one spot? Any thoughts most welcome! Gareth
  11. I have two fretted five strings, which is one more than I need, so I am selling this beauty from Franz Bassguitars, hand made in Bavaria by Xaver Tremel. It is new old stock, so it does show some minor player wear. The Merak is Xaver's interpretation of the classic Jazz Bass shape, and I love how understated it is, apart from the cool chestnut scratchplate that just hints at the custom nature of the instrument. The bass plays beatifully. The asymmetric neck is slim and fast and it's effortless to move around the fingerboard. The Delano pickups combined with the Glockenklang 2 band EQ are a well regarded combination: punchy and versatile. The slighltly curved body also means the bass hugs your body. The bass weighs 9lbs 2oz and balances perfectly. Specs as follows: BODY | European Alder, chambered and curved, with English Chestnut scratchplate FINISH | body: black matte laquer, neck: hard oil/wax NECK | 3-piece European Maple with carbon fiber reinforcement FINGERBOARD | European Maple with Compound Radius 10”-16” FRETS | 24 SCALE LENGTH | 34.5” TUNERS | Gotoh ResOLite BRIDGE | ETS STRAPLOCKS: Dunlop ELECTRONICS | Glockenklang 2-band active/passive CONTROLS | Volume, balance, bass, treble (active) /tone control (passive) PICKUP | 2 x Delano JC split coil humbucking pickup The bass is now strung with ACG nickel rounds, not the La Bella white nylons in the pictures below. To buy new would cost 2890 euros (about £2550), so this is a good saving (31%) off retail. I drive up and down to Cardiff almost every other weekend, so can easily deliver to anyone along that route too.
  12. Pictures added. The feet are not fitted at the moment as the amp is gig bagged.
  13. Superb amp. The EQ points are bang on. Only selling as it's way more power than I need for anything I'm doing these days. Pretty much mint condition as never used out of the (included) Markbass gig bag. Comes with custom footswitch to switch between EQ channels. Price is posted in the UK, in the original box. EQ1 ULTRALOW: Level ±16 dB (Freq. 65Hz) LOW: Level ±16 dB (Freq. 180Hz) MID: Level ±16 dB (Freq. 500 Hz) HIGH MID: Level ±16 dB (Freq. 1.4 KHz) HIGH: Level ±16 dB (Freq. 3.8 KHz) EQ2 OLD SCHOOL: Variable LOW PASS From 20KHz to 200Hz MILLERIZER: 5-12 KHz BAND PASS Filter (Level 0 /+10 dB) OUTPUT POWER: 800W RMS @ 4 ohms / 500W RMS @ 8 ohms
  14. That's weird, and alarming! I use two Hercules stands but the only plastic on them is the foam padding. Hopefully I'll be safe but a good check to do each set up.
  15. Anything other than side dots at the fret position do my head in!
  16. Excellent choice. I've tried all sorts of switchers over the years (Bassbone, Providence, Bigshot etc.), but the one I've settled on is a simple Bright Onions pedal that was custom-made for me. For the money, a no-brainer!
  17. Hej! Welcome to Basschat Magnus. My uncle was from Skåne (born and raised in Ystad, lived in Höör for many years) so I have been over to Sweden many times. Great place. Cheers Gareth
  18. I owe DPD an apology, it was DHL who left it on the doorstep. The delivery on the website says "Signed for by temiel on Saturday 03rd August 2019 at 09:02. Comment: None" No idea who temiel is...
  19. I came home last week to find DPD had left a £2.5k bass propped up against my front door......
  20. I know them well. They're just down the road from me, literally, and yet I've had nothing but trouble with them on the two occasions I've had to use them.
  21. Excellent signature cab made by Markbass for Alain Caron. The 3-way cab features a new custom 12" speaker with 800W power handling, a special new 5" speaker, and a new 1" compression driver. Very high fidelity cab: you really hear what your bass sounds like. The cab has been used very little and is in mint condition. It comes with a very nice "Hot Covers" padded cover (£46). These are £729ish new. I'm asking £500 £475 collected. IMPEDANCE : 8 ohms SPEAKER SIZE: 1x12" + 1x5" TWEETER: 1" coil compression tweeter BASS PORT: rear POWER HANDLING: 800W RMS CROSSOVER FREQUENCIES: 1.5 KHz / 5.5 KHz FREQUENCY RESPONSE: 40 Hz to 20 kHz SENSITIVITY: 99 dB SPL WEIGHT: 46.73 lbs / 21.2 Kg WIDTH: 14.9 in. / 38 cm DEPTH: 17.12 in. / 43.5 cm HEIGHT: 23.22 in. / 59 cm
  22. Used but in very good condition. These Gotoh GB707 tuners have been replaced by the Res O Lite versions on my Franz. Colour is a solid black. Three bass-side over two treble-side on a RH bass. £40 posted. They look like this:
