1. I was googling for Small Stone pedal images earlier when I stumbled across this rather interesting mod. Anybody seen this before? Or better yet, tried or heard it? I'm thinking of applying it to my Russian Stone. The US circuit board is different to the Russian but it's dead easy to find the caps in question.
  2.
Yes, he's Hartke's new big shout!
Wow, that's a hell of a catch for them!
Why do bagpipes make me want to pull my teeth out ?
The definition of a gentleman is someone who knows how to play the bagpipes, but doesn't. One of my personal Vic faves is still 'Me & My Bass Guitar'. Never fails to get the ol' toes tapping.
  3. If for any reason Dave can't do it, gimme a shout.
  4. I tried one of the Slider straps a few years back, when I was having back problems. It didn't work at all for me. It took the strain off the shoulder, yes... but it changed the playing position completely, forcing the bass further round my body so that my fretting hand was having to reach almost behind my shoulder line. Doc/osteo/chiro/whatever, immediately. And the best of luck to ya.

    SOUL DESTROYERS

Come along and boogie your botty off, and have a laugh at the prannets on the stage making eejits of themselves. And don't forget to say 'hi' to the bassist
  6. It's the 'Herculean neck' thing that tickles me. If he thinks a Jazz neck is chunky, just how slim does he like them??
Poncy Southerners.
Gittish part Midlander/Southerners
  7. I think it has the potential to be very good. Will be interesting to see how it develops.
  8. Oh yes, it's a superb pedal. It knocks the living sh*t out of the Boss octavers in terms of tracking and, well, everything. Joe, that'd be much appreciated. Could you drop me a PM with your address? Thanks.
  9. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;#entry410975
  10. Like it says, my Pearl Octaver pedal is buggered. It gives a very faint and scratchy signal. The jack sockets are clean, as are the pots. Does anyone know of any pedal-fixing gurus who could have a look at it? It's a brilliant unit when it works, and I don't just want to consign it to the bin or stick it on a shelf to gather dust.
  11.
Except it's really not guitar playing. It's bass playing.
Strictly speaking, it's bass guitar playing. [/pedant]
  12. Fender Urge 1, if you can find one.
  13. What a big girl's blouse.
  14. Amp only for me, the cabs are non-SWR. Does that count? An SM-900 that I bought late last year. The sound is to die for, and my amp GAS is currently stone dead. Apologies for the truly shocking photograph.
  15.
Defo - she played on everything Motown apparently.
No, she just played on everything. Ever. You know that Entwistle bloke who used to supposedly play with the Who? That was her with a sticky on beard. And that Jocko bloke? Her in a wig. Anthony Jackson? Kaye, fat suit, boot polish. True.
  16. I see your Haribo and raise you a sherbet fountain, a dozen assorted paperclips and a picture of Hilda Ogden out of Corrie.
  17. This has been discussed in the past, although searching for said discussion is a pain in the arse. If memory serves, I believe the word from those in the know was that mixing speaker sizes does not necessarily have a beneficial effect & the best results are had from keeping a uniform speaker size. If I'm wrong with this recollection, please correct me! Certainly from personal experience, my rig sounds loads better with two 1x15s than it did with a 1x15 plus a 2x10 -- but YMMV. As the man said, suck it and see!
  18.
anyone got a recommendation for an easy intro for me to check out?
I'd start off with Heavy Weather and keep going from there. Enjoy!
I find both unlistenable :-( Does this make me a bad person?
Not at all. No more than my incredibly low opinion of Cliff Burton makes me a bad person.
technically amazing, but apart from that, just sounds like fret w*nking to me.
Fretless, surely?
  19. Curate's egg... good in places. Well, more than good. Genius in places. I will never ever tire of things like Havona, A Remark, Teen Town, The Chicken. But some of his work I do find almost unlistenable. Having said that, I still feel that he deserves his hype. Just imagine if he'd got together with Hendrix... I really hope this thread doesn't descend into yet another "jazz is sh1t" thing.
  20. Old enough to remember Kerrang! mag being launched. My mate probably still has issue #1 lurking somewhere.

  23.
they were charging the local mongs $200 for the privilege of having a table near the stage
And $300 to leave
  24. Surely Hayseed Dixie have beaten you to it with the CountryMetal thing?
sounds quite gritty
Yes, but we've got to take it seriously now apparently.
