2.
So after that we'd ask for more clarity or upper mids or 2k on a particular instrument in the monitors rather than just "louder"
What, as in "Can I have more clarity/upper mids/2k on the baritone in the monitors please?"..?
  3. She told me that she'd played on the RHCP albums.
  4. Dear Mr. Sound Engineer, Have a word with our own joegarcia. He'll show you how to get a really good bass sound.
Adding to Bassace's comments it's dead easy to confuse a soun engineer - just show up with traditional acoustic instruments (even with fitted expensive pickups). Most variations of guitar / bass / drums seem to cause blind panic.
We had one bloke a few weeks back who had never worked with horns before. We have six of them...
  5.
Have you ever been in that situation where, after setting up, you stick on a really quiet background CD and "uncle Sidney" then asks you if it's going to be that loud all night?
I had that in a social club gig once. Drummer set up his kit, sat down, hit his (unamplified) snare once... and an old dear's voice from the darkness said "Ooh, it's a bit loud...".
  6. How about one of the more absurdly shaped Dean metal basses?
There's a band called 52 Pick-Up in Newcastle who do just that. Well, they're apparently "psychobilly", but the ethos and image seems to be fairly punk:
That guitarist is neither psycho nor billy enough. He needs a huge Gretsch or something, and some silly hair*. Perhaps his mum won't let him have a daft haircut? * He needs to be Brian Setzer, really.

    Peavey basses
Peavey do have a reputation for building stuff with 'bombproof' constuction. Which probably explains why you always see loads of peavey gear out & about. It simply won't die.
After WW3, all that will be left on the scorched earth is grass, cockroaches, and Peavey bass gear
One tiny issue though is that i don't think having screw on knobs on split shaft pots was the best of ideas, some of mine have fallen off. Might get some new ones but really it's just a case of making sure they're screwed on tight!
No you're right, not a good idea at all. Splined pot shafts really need push-on knobs. If you have to have screw ones, try to make sure the screw lines up with the split in the shaft. That way, the shaft won't bend when you tighten it up.
  8. My thoughts exactly. If it is a yarn, he could have come up with something that didn't make him out to be such a miserable git.
  9. I'll have a punt please -- don't know if that makes me next or what?
  10.
Sadly, the date seems to have passed Fender by. Couldn't find a mention on their web site
No mention on the EBMM site either, or G&L. That is a disgrace.
  11. Ah well... you pays yer money (or not in this case) I guess. FWIW, I enjoyed it. And I know who won the amp too... spawny bastid. EDIT. And I now have slight GAS for an Urge.
  12.
Llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllluxury.
There were 126 of uz living in't WEM cab in't middle of road.
  13. Got through the whole year without GAS to speak of... now starting to feel yearnings for a G-B Shuttle or perhaps NeoPak head. I still adore the SM900, but the damn thing's heavier than my cabs for feck's sake...
  14. Pros:

Sound. (I saw a band at the Bristol harbour festival the other week, the bassist was using a Shuttle combo with an extension cab... the best bass sound I've heard in ages.)
Cons:

I haven't got one.
Just when you think your GAS is sorted...
  15.
For me, playing music, specifically gigging, whether it be to 2 people or 200 is a life-affirming experience - we've had a couple of long breaks (6 months or so) and I hate it - in a sense gigging is what I play music for.
+10000000000000000000 I don't intend to stop playing/gigging until they screw the lid down. Even then, I shall be pestering Keith Moon and Jimi Hendrix for a jam.
  16. Aw never mind, it was probably rubbish anyway. Honest. When I see the model designation 'IGB', I always read it as a word rhyming with 'Digby'. Is it just me?
  17.
However if you don't do number one, you are wasting your time doing number two.
Must... not... make... juvenile toilet gag...
  18. The original's lost? Dammit, now we'll have to send it round everybody who's read it to collect the signatures again
  19.
ZZ Bot
Got to be done
