Following on from my earlier NSD post and my new-old Novation Bass Station 1, it's proven to be enough fun that I've decided to treat myself to a newer and more able unit. I've looked at what's out there (i.e. frequently on ebay) and have compiled a shopping list of those units that seem to be realistically affordable. As per the pic, they are: Roland Aira System-1 Korg Monologue Korg Minilogue Behringer MS-1 (Roland SH-101 clone) Novation K-Station Novation Mininova Of these, the K-Station is the only one I have experience of (I used a real SH-101 back in the day, so I suppose I have sort-of experience of the Behringer too) and I know the K to be a superb thing, but alas it is also the generally most expensive of these five. I'm quite taken by the Roland, but have no experience of it. I've seen youtube videos of them all and they all make the most gorgeous bass noises, so any one will probably do, but if anyone has real world experience of any/all of them I'd love to hear your opinions. Ta in advance!

Yup, they're definitely full size keys. I'm having some fun putting sounds together. If I can find a K-Station in the New Year I think I'll pounce on it. I really wish I'd never sold mine, a couple of years back. It was a superb machine.

I fancied a wee synth for some phat & pharty synth bass noises, so I picked up one of these little old ladies. It really takes me back to be mucking about with oscillators and LFOs and ADSR again!

Sanding Bridge Feet? I'm pretty sure I saw them at a folk festival some years ago.

I'd be more than happy to do the resistor mid-mod for anyone in or near Bristol. As @paul_5 says, it takes longer to dis/reassemble than it does to do the mod and it transforms the sound. The scoop that @Supernaut refers to is instantly eradicated. I did the FrankenP mod and to be honest the unscooped version was so much better that I never touched the switch. If I was doing it again, I wouldn't bother with the switch and would make it permanent.

Proper bargain that. Following this with interest. I remember trying out a US Curlee in Hickies Music in Reading, back in the day. I'm sure it was double P, but my memory might be playing tricks on me.

I have a spare bed you're welcome to. If you help me put the duvet cover on, it's yours. It's not that close to the Bash venue alas, but it's in the right direction to your house.

I use Elixirs and I get at least a year out of them. More if they don't see a lot of action. I tend to put the used ones on other less-used basses as there's generally a decent amount of life left in them. The ones on my fretless, acoustic and Wal basses are at least 3 years old.

Yeah, that's one of my favourites in my ska band's set. Bit of pick action and a driven SVT tone, and as close as I get to leaping about. Other ska favourites are: Nite Klub (I get a wee solo ) Ghost Town (gorgeous dubby bassline, Horace is a genius) Night Boat to Cairo (great fun) Is This Love? (love it to bits)
