  1. I played some of the GuitarGuitar blow out BB's a few years back and the bridge pick up was marred by the 60cycle hum. Ed Friedland make similar comments on how the pick up had a noticable hum too in a review video but loved the bass regardless. But hey it's a single coil pick up so totally expected.
  2. They push on/pull off. It’s as easy as changing a string.
  3. Cheers Baz I’ve got all dirt needs covered from my Amp’s built in drive channel with my standalone dirt and fuzz pedals or the Stomp for the iem only gigs.
  4. I noticed Merchant City have one and I’m thinking of a good excuse to go to Glasgow.
  5. I read so many ‘reviews’ on here and on the ‘net which does nothing more than list the specs and make claims about how this product, if it can do X,Y and Z will deliver the goods only to find out that the said bit of gear lives on a shelf, in a rack with ten other basses and never once sees a stage. This is so common on music sites where I’d be surprised if they’ve even played the bass - they’re just regurgitating the press release. I saw it recently with the Dark Ray - it might have been posted on that BC thread about it. Or it’s the gushing ‘review’ followed by the for sale ad a few weeks later citing its pristine ‘unused’ condition.
  6. I’ve had my eye on one of these since the MKII great looking bass and you know it’s gonna sound top notch. Will be looking forward to the verdict once you’ve gotten to play it in anger at some shows.
  7. Nah I opted out to concentrate on boxes and power amps 😀

Yeah those Freeman Squier basses are fantastic value and really solid. The new loom will just add that extra reassurance of sound electronics and the Model P… well it’s just such a solid pick up in its own right. The original isn’t bad but when I had a Freeman p bass it had a Model P in it too. Great pairing!
  9. Love a bit of Eden gear and since playing the plug in version I’ve been trying hard to resist buying an Eden amp. Sounds a clear punchy sound. You can see why they became so popular!
  10. It’s like they’re mourning the loss of a friend in that second pic.
  11. Just been reminded I still want but still don’t need 😢 It’s just so classy!!
  12. I’ve had a newer BB which I really liked but it was around the time I was offloading a heap of gear to get a deposit for my flat. I prefer the look of the newer BB’s but I’m not adverse to trying one out. I also played the BB’s when guitar guitar we’re doing a blow out, some mates have owned them way back in the day so I’m no stranger to them but most of it was back in my youth.
  13. I’m away to get a new car so if the salesperson does a decent discount I might pick it up on the drive home 👌🏼
  14. Yeah the bands would all be like bands you already know just with subtle differences Bun’s and Roses, Ron Jovi etc
  15. Might be fun to have a BEAD tuned bass kicking about…
  16. Ben Shepherd from Soundgarden uses or used one of these Mesa pedals for years.
  17. Might be worth taking a punt on…🤔
  18. Just as an aside it’d be great if the government were actively seeking out and researching the off license use of other established, safe medications to further prevent and treat people with early symptoms and long haul COVID symptoms. Let’s not forget the vaccine is authorized under an emergency use authorization; other medication could be authorised under this same regulation to treat COVID patients - atorvastatin, corticosteroids, ivermectin, Vitamin D. Sorry back on topic football is great fans can be tw*ts but that’s people for you! We have been informed that our regular bar will be starting up gigs in August but our fiddle player has decided to call it a day until Jan as she is working on her own business and is super busy. Let’s hope our dep can cover the initial few gigs before *another shut down/*flurry or regular dates in the diary (delete as appropriate).
  19. Is that generally considered a decent price? It seems reasonable…
  20. It's such a good wee bass. I think between the short scale and price some people might be put off but actually it's got all the best attributes of a P bass just in a smaller form or at least that's my take on it not having any real experience with a Mustang previously. Don't get me wrong I love my p bass (B profile Jap 70's neck and a Shuker P bass body) but the JMJ just makes playing all the more fun.
  21. Old rounds on the JMJ were my preferred go to for my old country band gig. I currently have the Fender flats on and it just consistently delivers. Rolling about 15-20% off the tone control just sets it right where I like it.
  22. I think it’s EmpireMusic on YT who do a great demo, it’s better than the Fender in-house one for this particular unit.* actually the Fender in-house demo ain’t bad!* And who else but Nate Navarro of course!
  23. I should add I was gonna buy that MBD2 pedal but had a Fender Trapper Bass distortion incoming which is really impressing me with its overall tone. Dist 2 features a clean blend called Sub as well having sa variable x-over hpf type thing going on which is great sounding to my ears. What I’m enjoying the most is each bass sounds like itself- the pedal is not overly influencing the inherent tone as a** backwards as that reads. My jmj with flats sounds as I’d expect and my jazz is certainly unmistakable a jazz. Some pedals can kinda put their blanket sound over a bass irrespective (yeah I’m looking at you early Darkglass pedals) just listen to a Patrick Hunter review! The tone control is worth a mention too. Dist one is a simple three knob affair but the tone, once rolling it back from noon doesn’t introduce lows per se but it does keep some of that thickness without initially being super muddy. I’m not sold on the Dist 1&2 stacked yet but I’ve a band rehearsal booked in for The next few weeks - I think I’d need to hear it in context to really know if it’s a sound I’d be using (not that I have much need for a stacked gain sound in my current covers band). In keeping with the OP if you see one of these Bass Trapper Distortion (not to be confused with the Trapper Fuzz) pedals pop up it’s certainly worth a look. It can add in that slight edge or sparkle which sounds great at volume (currently just been playing along amplified and via laptop with YT and Spotify but sometimes you just know a pedal will work) but has more on tap too for Geezer type old school bass and much more in between.
  24. I see you have yours up for sale. Any major reasons you shifted it so quickly? I was quite interested in these as you know.
