I'm in the final stages of agreeing a new build spec with Alan. I am left handed and did consider this bass but there are a few very specific features I wanted for my own build. Exciting times.
Many tuners can be recalibrated to allow non-standard tunings. I am guessing that the bass setting on your tuner has been altered from concert pitch and needs to be reset.

Look for the Pitch Cal button.
Yes it sounds like the bass setting has been changed and needs to be reset to concert pitch. I am guessing the bass button somehow changes the tuner sensitivity to make it better tune bass frequencies.
I just received a Sadowsky preamp from them today. It looks like I can add Fenders to my basket and get to check out again. The only difference is the prices are shown as ex-VAT so there will be something to pay at the other end.
I installed a set of the same Bartolini pickups used in the MTD USA basses. The bridge was a drop in replacement but the neck was too big for the cavity and I had to do a bit of woodwork to make it fit.
I have the six string version and the neck is the best I have ever played. I did replace the preamp with a Mike Pope and the pickups with Bartolinis which made a massive difference.
Stringsdirect. - Amazing customer service.
I bought a Gruv Gear Duostrap from them which arrived yesterday with a fault on one of the fixtures. I emailed them last night asking if they could post the part or arrange a replacement. I got a reply this morning saying they have despatched a replacement strap to me immediately to minimise my time without it and providing freepost details for returning the faulty one.
This is how you win and keep customers.
John
I recently bought a preamp directly from their US site. They could not have been more helpful, pickups arrives fast, and only a small duty surcharge to pay.
They even built a left-handed version for me at no extra charge.
