1. Maybe she should invest in a spell checker or a pair of eyes if she is listing stuff for sale on ebay.
2. Thanks for that, someone I know was after a cheap leccy kit! He snapped it straight up!

HELP!

Thanks for all the responses so far, I must admit at the moment Im leaning towards the Warwick, although last week I had my heart set on a Sterling SB14, so thats liable to change without notice Im not sure on the price of the warwick, but I have just seen another post on here that someone is getting a new one for a smidgen under £600, so that bodes well for the price of a second hand one. I'd love to be to try all of them, but my local music shop isnt blessed with a huge selection, and the only other music shop here in the new Mall thing only has the basic Squier type things. On top of that Im struggling to get around with my back/leg problems I cant really make a trip to a bigger city to check them out, so its going to have to be a case of buy and try. If I dont like, well then someone on here will probably end up with a new bass!

HELP!

I've got some money from Ebay and a small inheritance and I want a new bass (again) but Im now torn between 3. 1) Warwick Corvette standard ash 2) G&L L-2000 3) Musicman Stingray I love the looks and tone of the Warwick, I love the range of tones from the G&L and I love the look and heritage of the Stingray. The Stingray will need more money saving up, the G&L I can just about manage now, the Warwick Im not sure on the pricing yet. Now, I like slimmer jazz necks, but I realize all of the above are bigger than that. They all should be manageable though. From all the videos I have seen, the Warwick makes the nicest sound, but the sheer range the G&L produces could also be very interesting. It would be like having a new bass every time you fiddled with the knobs. The stingray is just one of those must have basses, but Im not sure I want it just yet in case I get bored with it and sell it on. Any pros and cons to help me decide would be very much obliged. I hate all this decision making stuff.
10. So tempted by that fretted. Just watched a video of one them and the range of sounds is amazing. I have some stuff on ebay that ends next week, if its still here, I may have to get a really big coat to hide another bass in so the misses doesnt see it!
11. Hmmm Nice.. Whats the width of the neck at the nut? Is its still "jazz" width, presumably thicker due to the extrra string?
12. His Orion video is great. And I looove that bass sound!!! Goddamn, now I want a Warwick Thumb.
13. The Dammed are playing a gig here in December... With a slight difference, check this out.. Spiegeltent Looks like it could be a stunning event.
14. Only bought this the other day, but the misses has just handed me her Xmas list Its been used for literally 10 minutes, I installed the software, fiddled with the sounds a bit and put it away again, comes boxed with all the original stuff. Has loads of amps, cabs and effects for bass and guitar, plus you can use it to record onto the computer through USB. Has a phrase trainer and loads of songs to play along to and a tuner. Comes with the CD with Ableton live Lite and all the drivers. Sell new for £160+, this is as good as new, so £150 posted RMSD? Pics if you want them, but it looks just like you'd expect it to.
15.
Not a problem Mine's sold now, but you're onto a winner with one of those. Either that, or wait for a really good used Stingray to come up. The one I bought last night is a belter! Rich.
Phew, thats lucky. I was just totting up how much I could get by selling some of my camera lenses and was gonna ask you if you could hold the bass for a week or so! Probably for the best, its gone to someone with the money already!
16.
Not wanting to advertise here, but I have a SBMM Ray 34 for sale on the forum, LOL! Anyway, to the point in question... Yes, the Ray 34 is very very good. I actually bought a piezo Stingray last night & I got a chance this morning to A/B the two against eachother. The Ray does indeed sound just like a MusicMan. Now, bearing in mind that my Stingray [proper] is almost ten years old, the only real difference between the two is the quality of the woods used. There's nothing wrong with the Ray 34, it's just a little more polite sounding and a little more top-endy. I'd imagine this is mainly due to the use of much younger (and cheaper) swamp ash/maple in the construction. But all in all, don't be frightened to go for the Ray 34. It's an excellent bass. If my EBMM didn't have the piezo bridge, I wouldn't have bothered, to be honest. The SBMM basses are that good. Rich.
I have been starring at it since you psoted it up!! I would really love to buy it, but I just dont have the funds, and want to give the credit card a break over Xmas. Annoying thing is I just got a cheque for £500 from my Grandma's will, but its already all spent. I owe my misses £300 and my car tax is due at the end of the month, which is £215. Im pretty sure my local music shop doesnt stock these, but I might give the Ray a chance if I can find one to try out somewhere. I've run out of things to sell aswell, so its a case of having to save up unfortunately.
17. I have been watching all the musicmans on Ebay, but I would be hung up by my knackers if I bought one now. Its gonna have to wait until after Xmas, cos the misses wont be best pleased if I blow £600 on myself and then have nothing left for others Xmas pressies. I've narrowed it down to either the SB14 or a real MM Sterling. I think the Stingray necks will be too wide for me to play comfortably. The SB14 has the same nut width as my Squier VM as does the real Sterling I think, so they should both be fine. Certainly makes more sense to get a real second hand Sterling for around £600ish than spend the same on a new SB14. Cheers for all the coments!
18. Is that a Musicman Sterling, or Sterling by Musicman? Why did they make it so confusing? There is a big price gap between the two!
19. Thought I'd got over it, but its still niggling. Wont be able to afford it for a while, but Im not sure what to go for. I'd looking at the Ray 34 or SB14. After watching some videos, I think I prefer the sound of the SB14, but not sure why really ir what the differences are. I like a jazz neck, as I only have small hands, which is better in that aspect? Also where do the SUBs fit in the equation, are they just older versions of the same? I'd probably be looking at no more than £500, may a little more at a push. Sorry for the vaugness, but there are so many versions of the stingray type, I get confused at whats what.
20. I have a Edirol UA-25. Cost me £70. USB straight into the mac, standard guitar jack lead from bass into the unit, and thats it. Does the job. Need to play around with the levels to get a good strong sound, but once you've figured that, its simples. Can also plug mics, another guitar and Midi in with it too. I think the new Korg Pandora PXD5 also does USB to computer recording, plus you get all the effects and the pre amp and everything else it does too.
21. Damnit, why dont I ever find bargains like this? Give you £220 for it
22. Greenday have a guitarist you rarely see. He plays all the live shows, but is never in the photos. I guess they are happy with the situation, or they wouldnt do it surely?
23. Mine isnt performace related, well is kind of. There is this band that I have loved for years, like since the 1996. They are a Swedish classical/Metal band , pretty big in Europe. Anyway in 2006 I found out they were playing a small festival in the next town from me, this was a pretty huge, as I never thought I'd get to see them. My g/f for some reason emailed them asking for the set list, beacuase she is a belly dancer and wanted to make up some sequences to dance along to the gig. About 2 weeks later she had an email from the band leader, Christofer saying that he'd love her and my sister in law to perform on stage with them for a few songs, as some of thier stuff is quite Egyptian sounding. On the day of the gig, we went up there at about 7.am and met up with the band backstage, we all had AAA passes and were flauting them around Waynes World style. The girls did their stuff on stage and we had an amazing time. The band invited us back to thier hotel for the after party, where we stayed until 8.am the next morning! After that we kept in contact through email with Christofer, and he invited us to another gig they were doing in London, again we had backstage passes and the like. At the end of the gig he said the band were doing a DVD filming in Poland later that year, and would my G/f like to dance again. She agreed and we had an all expense paid trip to Poland and again all the backstage goodness. 1 year later, we had a out of the blue email from Christofer. He said the band were going on tour around Europe to promote the new album and asked firstly if my G/f would like to dnace again, and secondly they needed a roadie/set builder and would I like to do it. We jumped at the chance and in Dec 2008 we flew out to Germany to meet up with the band and the tour bus. For the next two weeks we lived the full "rockstar" lifestyle, living on the bus, touring round Europe. We all got on really well with all the band, but especially Christofer. It was the hardest, but the most amazing 2 weeks of my life. A real experience. Not only to be visting all these places, but to be hanging out with a band I idolised for a long time. Not only that, but I also got paid for all my work, even though we had originally agreed I wouldnt be paid. The band and crew siad I had worked so hard and helped so much, I should be paid. I even got offered the job of drum tech for the next tour! We still keep in contact with Christofer and he has invited us to come stay at his house he is building in Ireland when it is finished. Not the best story in the world, but one that changed my life a little bit and gave me an amazing experience!
