1. And although we mostly play our own pieces, we do sometimes play a cover. Here we did a Miles Davis classic. I'd love to embed it but it's a Facebook vid so sorry
2. And I love it, somehow. I was looking for a reverb and a friend of mine had one and I got it for free But I can't really figure out...what it is. It's not a reverb and it's not a proper delay, can someone explain to me how the sound works? It sound like it's a delay where every next delay is closer to the previous one. Very spacy. I recorded a sample: https://soundcloud.com/hidderoorda/reverb
3. So I've had this reggae band for a short while now. A lot of firsts for me: first time I've played guitar in a band, done lead vocals, recorded, mixed ánd mastered the demo. I wonder what you guys think. We've recorded for songs we really like and are working on our own material ATM. If you have tips of advices concerning mixing or mastering after listening, please feel free to give them. Check it on Soundcloud.
4. I must say I've gotten quite some GAS when at the show, but back home I realised there's not very much I'd gain from buying one of the basses I tested there. Sure, I fell in love with Sadowskys, Overwater and especially Pedulla, but I kinda have that stuff already, more or less. Okay, I'd kill for a Pentabuzz. But other than that...
5. I'm gonna pass this year, have two theatre gigs that weekend. Too bad, I was really looking forward to it!
6.
Sorry, I took your initial post as a joke or ironic question, the answer to which would be "bass guitar". Seeing you're serious, I can't really tell which of the mentioned ones is best, as I've spent only little time with each of these, BUT: I've had great results with a synth as simple as the Korg MS-10, which has only one oscillator. This approach demanded two effect pedals, one of which I think was a chorus. The result was unbelievably close to a real bass guitar of indescript model - though of course not in every respect. I was flabbergasted though, and that was after decades of synth "programming". The Korg MS-20 Mini, which is still available, would do the same job, and could also do a better job with its two oscillators and other stuff.
Agreed to that, the Korg MS series is great (although I still like the Moog filter sound better, and you can always switch off the second oscillator in a Sub Phatty)! The MS-20 mini is pretty cool but I háte those tiny keys. You could get an MS-20 kit and build one with proper keys.
7.
But, which one is best if all you want to do is play bass lines and sound very much like a bass guitar?
A bass guitar. No synth will emulate the decay and dynamics of a bass string perfectly.
8. I considered a Minibrute and Bass Station 2 when shopping for a bass keyboard, but instead went for: Haven't had any regrets. As Jeremy Clarkson would say: What a machiiiiiine!
9. So I was fiddling with my Japanese Bass VI (what an instrument!) and found out that it does a pretty decent Carol Kaye impression, so I couldn't resist... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXPB38OQ08Q
10. Ha! We're working on new pieces at the moment but for now this is it
11. So I was asked to be a part of Tyranni Flock, the jazz/fusion group of a friend of mine who is a keyboard player. He initially asked me to do his graduation concert, but we're planning on doing some jazz festivals now. I like these videos. Some sloppy intonation on the first video but overall, it's pretty decent if I may say so http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JV0avwvV2No http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=og2_-Se3ZZ4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SddgixjqJpA

13. I really, honestly think this is the only P I'll ever need.
14. I've only owned two sunburst instruments in my life, and this is one of them. I'm not a sunburst kinda guy but boy is this a good instrument...
15. Is it a bass? Is it a guitar? I don't know. Got one just yesterday. Japanese reissue, strung with LaBella flats.
16. Eich T-500 with two 112XS cabinets. Love this rig. It's light, loud and tight.
17. Sent a message to the band (House of Riddim), and it worked Apparently, it's a Zagler. Cool stuff.
18. Here's a better photo:
19. So I went to this reggae festival yesterday and Anthony B. was playing. It was pretty darn good! But I was puzzled by one thing: the bass his bass player was using. Five string kinda Jazz Bass, 24 frets, with humbuckers. Couldn't tell what it was. Who can help? Sorry for the terrible shots
20. NOFX and Rancid, probably. Can't really remember...
21. Bump. Interested in trades with something fretless as well
22. Hehehe I've seen that, have already suggested a trade but no success so far
