  1. We (my fusion band Tyranni Flock) recorded a quarantine version of a new tune, "Almanac". Used my 1966 Jazz for this. I mixed it, too
  2. I aaaaalways start with neck relief. Of course
  3. It's so weird: I've set up dozens of basses over the years, I do all my own setup work on my basses but somehow I couldn't figure this out.
  4. Well, it's a bit against my own initial bass setup logic but I've tightened the truss and raised the saddles a bit and that seems to have worked. Thinking about it, it's quite reasonable: the angle of the strings compared to the bass has changed so that was the solution. Thanks
  5. Alright, I'll try that first then.
  6. Yeah normally I'm pretty proficient at setting up basses but somehow I've failed with this one so far. Let's see what happens when I adjust the neck. I really don't know that a graphite neck does when you adjust the truss rod...
  7. Thing is the buzz is only on the high positions, so neck relief isn't the issue here.
  8. Question for you all: my Sterling has a fretless graphite Status neck on it, and it has a bit of buzz on the highest positions, especially on the G-string. I know that issue from wood Fender basses with the famous "ski slope", but what could be the issue here? Would the neck possibly need a shim?
  9. I did a live stream with Dutch pianist/singer/songwriter Aafke Romeijn a few weeks ago, used my Mustang, fretless 'Ray and Moog Sub Phatty. Fun stuff. Lyrics in Dutch, but that shouldn't spoil the fun. Speaking of fun: I found out the Eurovision competitor for Iceland had a great disco-ish song. Got my trusty 1966 Jazz out for this.
  10. It's all in Dutch, but here is the complete live stream I did with Aafke Romeijn. Used my Mustang and fretless Stingray and they sound amazing, if I may say so myself.

      Nice! 👍🏼

  11. Ah just to clear everything up, from left to right: 1971 Precision, Sterling/Status fretless Stingray, Dingwall Combustion 5, 1966 Jazz.
  12. Officially, all four of these basses are white.
  13. I'd not get it because where's Kurts low end gone? 🙃
  14. Took a little gamble, found this here in NL for a great price so let's see what's what. I ordered it after consulting my pedal wizard
  15. I have thought about a flanger but I really like the specific sound of a chorus
  16. So I bought a fretless Stingray recently and yesterday I made the "mistake" of trying a Boss CH-1 with it. Man, what a sound. So now I want a chorus, but there are sooooo many choices within a reasonable budget. TC Corona, Boss CE-2B, EHX Bass Clone, EBS Bass Chorus, Ampeg Liquid and so on. I have noooo idea what to look for. Can anyone clarify what the big difference(s) is between these pedals? I'm looking for the classic 80's Pino-ish sound here.
  17. My americana band Violet Hour has released its debut record! Check it out (click on the image) and/or order it on 45 rpm vinyl through violethourband.com!

  18. Thanks! In the meantime I put a Nordstrand in it:
  19. I think from the fact it was made by Status.
  20. I was always a bit hesitant about graphite basses and necks, but the neck on my new Sterling...it's amazing.
  21. Technically, it's a Sterling. And a Status. And a Nordstrand. Sooooo does it count?
  22. It's been a while since I've had two fretless basses in the house, let alone two basses that might last a while. I've owned that Jazz for almost 20 years now and the Sterling/Status arrived a few weeks back. I've added a Nordstrand pickup to it because the Kent Armstrong that was in it sounded a bit too modern for my taste. And boy. Is it great. I'm not a big Stingray fan but this is quite a bass.
  23. Yep, that's a different bass, quite a bit older too (1998 if memory serves). Fralin pickups, Aguilar preamp: I do miss that bass now and then.
  24. It already sounds pretty darn decent. I'm now looking at either Nordstrand or Seymour Duncan (the Alnico version) but they do seem to be pretty similar. Anyway, here's a teaser:
