1. I was thinking of not having any onstage monitoring of bass from the desk at all and just relying on the mag direct to my backline. I can certainly send both to foh though. My worry was mainly possible cancellation effects, but I've got a fully variable phase shift on the EA Doubler, so maybe that will take care of that? If it works out ok, it could be a good solution for folks not wanting a mag sound out front but worried about feedback from backline monitoring. Mostly it won't be an issue because we wouldn't often have a full PA, but I'd like a strategy for when we do.
 2.
I'm still sticking with my sale at £80!
Oops! Didn't see that. Sorry.
 3. I'm wondering whether to expect interference problems if I put a Full Circle through the PA but monitor from the Kent Armstrong. Will the KA stage sound acting on the bass body cause interference with the Full Circle and cause nasty effects for the FOH? I've not seen such a prob mentioned anywhere, and if it's not a problem then it's maybe my future solution for the bigger gigs - monitor with mag for no feedback while good foh from the Full Circle. There's got to be a flaw here somewhere.
 4. Surplus to requirements now I've got my Full Circle. Bought new from Golihur, never used outside the house. £60 posted to UK or Ireland.
 5. Just got a Full Circle and a Kent Armstrong mag fitted to by our wondrous luthier. Belt 'n braces, and they sound very good separately or mixed. Happy me. No more feedback fear.
 6.
My X stand was described as a keyboard/amp stand and easily goes up to head height. Having said that, I'm a total shortarse so it doesn't have to reach very far.
I'm no basketball player either, so maybe it would work for me too.
 7.
You can buy a "top hat" from Maplin for the price of a couple of pints.
Nice gismo. Looks well worth a try. As for keyboard stands, I always imagined them to be less than head high at max extension, though maybe I'm wrong there. Hoping my Kent Armstrong / Full Circle combination (being fitted atm) will help as well.
 8.
Hi there it was a PA stand like on this link http://www.gak.co.uk/en/mackie-c200-passive-pa-speaker/22604 Funnily enough Alex at Barefaced asked me whether it would be useful to add a 'top hat' hole underneath the Midget for PA use. I am sure he would mod your Midget so that it could work this way - as it stands the Midget won't sit on this sort of stand though
Pity it won't fit. Alas, I'm too far away from Alex for a mod. btw, your problem with the Doubler having only one speakon out was why I insisted to Alex that he put two speakons on my midget. Why they're not standard on Alex's cabs I can't understand. I certainly wouldn't buy one without.
 9. I'm not a physio, but as far as I understand it, tennis elbow comes from excessive, repeated wrist movement. Assuming you're right -handed, if it's your left arm that's suffering, it means you need to use your shoulder much more and your wrist much less. If your right elbow is the problem, again you need to use your arm, not your wrist. I repeat, i'm not an expert in this, so you need to take professional advice. Hope you get back to playing soon.
 10.
Update: We had a (nearly) full-band rehearsal yesterday ahead of the festival gig next weekend at pretty hefty volume. I used a Mackie 10"PA speaker (a C200) on a stand at head height just behind me and it worked brilliantly (for our drummer as well). Thanks to Mr_Bassman (Keith) for suggesting this route. Will use this at the Meadowlands festival. Setup yesterday was: Shadow SH950 pickup ->LR Baggs Venue DI preamp ->Acoustic Image Coda ->MackieC200
Very useful info, thanks Clarky. What kind of stand was that, and do you think it would take a Midget (no tweeter).
 11.
I say get yourself a double bass and throw out a wardrobe.
All good advice. Also, do not forget this very serious and important aspect of the double bass: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...;hl=babe+magnet
 12.
I am buying these because I have to try them all. I am actually pretty happy with my strings at the mo' so drop me a pm if you would like to be next in line if they are not for me.
Spot the hedge fund guy!
 13.
The 12" mix of "Love Like Blood" was on constant rotation in my dorm room the first year of uni. Happy days!
Wonder where that bass is now. I sold it to a shop in Edinburgh.
 14.

I believe I was the next owner of this one. Nostalgia or what.
 15. Elixirs. Plenty mwah but they don't chew up the board. Last forever.
 16. Hey, from a fellow noob, you have done the right thing and you will not regret it. Only advice I can give is pay huge attention to the problem of not hurting yourself. That means at least one lesson as soon as you can. Also, some good vids can help there. You will probably spend a lot of time howling in frustration at first, but it seems to me that one trick is to play every single day, even if it's only 15mins. Make friends with that baby.
 17. Lovely bass. Got the fretless version of this as a backup, and it turned into my go-to practice bass. Nice, slim neck. Ridiculously good quality for twice this price.
 18.
I'll take that sir!!!
Quick on the draw there, sir! Great pup imo.
 19. As mentioned in various posts, make sure Aaron knows you want the pickup wired AND you want a cable ready soldered with wire, pickup and jack socket. Otherwise you'll get a box of parts and a lot of frustration. For some reason, he doesn't ask, you have to know. As others have said, very good pickup. Looks more discrete than the schaller, too.
 20. +1 on keeping it simple, but you might find that some choruses respond well to a swung walking line. But don't forget to revert to that ol' 1.5 for the verses. Mainly, take the opportunity to relax and enjoy yourself, then the crowd will too.
 21.
Also I understand that the pickups on these are quite hot and if they are set too close to the strings it is possible that the magnetic field from the pick up is strong enough to restrict the vibration of the string killing the sustain. If that is the case then lowering the pickups will help.
Very good point, often neglected. We're inclined to think higher is better.
 22.
Also, I've heard some people say that the ADI21 (the acoustic guitar version) is "better" because it has a mid EQ control. Since I play guitar as well I'm kind of tempted by one of these, since it would be more versatile. Anyone got any comments on using the ADI21 with bass? Thanks
Can't comment on that, but the DHA DI/EQ has parametric mid eq and is good for guitar as well. Pretty cheap too for what it is.
