1. What's funny about them? I sound just like that when I play.
 2. My Wife said exactly the same. I am now in my second Marriage, and this one accepts that I am a Musician.
 3.
No-one's commented on the obviously askew nature of the actual serial number........................ G.
.................and that's why I'll never buy an old/vintage/collectors Bass off e-bay or wherever. I'm ripe for being scammed, because I can't see anything wrong with it.
 4.
On a different note, another reason for going wireless is the extra safety of not being physically connected to my gear thus reducing (or even eliminating) the chance of electric shock etc. I've had one or two discussions with other muso types as to the validity of this argument and wondered if someone here could shed some definitive light on this. I've never had to (and would rather not) test the theory first hand!
Yep-it eliminates the connection between you, the mic, and your backline. After dying onstage a few years back (and luckily being brought back by a Doc in the audience) I went wireless, and haven't used a lead since.
 5. The one person in my life who ALWAYS encouraged me, and told me never to give up, was my Dad. The two best moments of my (musical) life were being able to take him backstage at both the City Hall and Tyne Tees Studios. (When I was playing both). His smile is something that stays with me to this day, and he's been gone for six years.

 8. Shame about the lousy ?Music? and ?Lyrics? drowning it out.
 9. It can be a right pain in the bum when you first get started, but personally, I think it's well worth the effort. You can go months without having to read Music, then all of a sudden you get a load of work because you're the only one in the area who can. It'll probably be all explained in the book, but your Mantra from now on should be:- (Treble Clef) Lines:-Every Good Boy Deserves Football (I know it's Favour, but I'm a Geordie!) Spaces:-FACE (Bass Clef) Lines:-Good Boys Deserve Football Always (Same rule as above) Spaces:-All Cows Eat Grass Once you can remember that little lot without having to think first, you're half way there. Good Luck.
 10.
I've just picked up a Vintage bubinga bodied 5er for £50 + £8 delivery, been trying to fing a 5er that i like the sound, feel and look of for a while If this doesn't fit the bill i'll pass it on at £58 + p+p to anyone who wants it
Whooooosh! Dibs, please.
 11. Botty burp! Kakka! Shee-it! I didn't read this till this morning, and it had already gone. Bollix.
 12. Why aren't they all playing the same tune? Coat on - already halfway through the door!
 13.
all right now - free. I'd not heard the song the first time we covered it!
Did you notice the continuously struck open A during the lead break? Loads of folks don't.
 14.
Too many notes for the genre? But disco is full of 16th notes and Bernard's playing practically definied the genre anyway! And if that bassline is too clever, why did it get sampled so successfully? One of the biggest hooks ever laid down by a bass - you can't build a track like Rappers' Delight on a bassline that isn't damned catchy. You're perfectly entitled not to like it though, even if your critical analysis is full of holes! Alex
That's precisely why I inserted a dirty great IMHO in my post. I wasn't being a critical analyst, I just don't LIKE it. My idea of Bass playing is (never mind, I'm on death row as it is) ........and don't get me started on the talentless leeches that steal.......er, "sample" other people's work!
 15.
Fair enough, but listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVWaAAsbahI You know the tune. You can't tell me that's not a sublime tone and in the pocket groove.
Sorry me old mate, I'm still not convinced. Farty mids don't 'do it' for me, and (I'll probably get shot by most of the people on the Board for saying this) IMHO he's trying to be too clever, and playing far too many notes for the genre. I suppose it stops him getting bored with the constant repetitive "bump bash, bump bash, bump bash" that seemed to permeate through all the songs of that era, but it's just not my cuppa meat. Coat on - leaving now. [edit for typo's]
 16. Isn't there a Wilkinsons near you? They sell it as well, but cheaper than anywhere else, I've found.
 17.
Bernard Edwards - and I'm shocked that he hasn't had a mention yet
I thought Bands like Chic, (and that type of music) were a complete waste of time (personal opinion only) so didn't ever bother listening to the Bass line, or even know who the Bassist was. I had to Google his name to find out who you were talking about-sorry.
 18.
Looking at the decal it looks like part of the last 'S' is missing, which is strange as well. Maybe it's just obscured slightly by grime. And the wear looks a little odd too. Maybe I'm just getting a bit too cynical in my old age.
+1. Looking closely at the headstock, it seems like it's been daubed with some kind of coloured varnish, (possibly to hide damage?) which has made it's way onto the last "S".
 19.
Can anyone think of I reason I should not buy this?
Nope. If I had the readies, it would be in my house NOW! Having done the sound for his Band on a few occasions, I can testify to the condition and quality of this rig. (Half the time, I didn't even have to put him in the mix-the standalone volume fills most places by itself)
 20.
Im pretty sure my SMX400 had lots of steam left after 3-4 on the output volume control.
I depped with a Rock Band a couple of weeks ago, and after setting my old Trace (AH350X) to it's normal "4" was asked to turn it up during the soundcheck, because it wan't quite cutting through. (No P.A. support) I flipped it up to "7" and the Vocalist bent double, clapped his hands to his ears, and said (quote) "Jesus F*ckin'Christ, I nearly sh*t myself, Turn it back down, man!" For the rest of the Gig, I settled on "5" and everyone was happy, so on personal experience, it doesn't run out of steam after "4". (Edit to say that I'm using a 1x15" cab and a 2x12" cab with it.)
 21. Classically-Trained Pianist, with a full Career mapped out for me, then I overheard a conversation between my Dad and a couple of his Bandmates. Bassists were rarer than rocking-horse poo in our area, and they needed one for a load of Old-Time Dances that were coming up. My Dad was a Drummer, and at that time had three spare kits, (accumulated over many years) and I knew of a lad at School who had a Bass and Amp, who wanted to become a Drummer, but had no finances to further his ambitions. Quick negotiations followed, and I was soon the owner of a Hofner Professional Bass, Fenton-Weill Combo and small vocal P.A., whilst lad at school got himself a fairly battered Carlton Drumkit. I was shown the notes on the neck by an old, retired Double Bass player my Dad knew, and a fortnight later I was on stage. By the time I left School, I had discovered 'The Devil's Music', bought a Fender Precision and a Marshall Stack, and never went back to the Piano.
 22. The word I think everyone's looking for, rhymes with 'Banker.'
 23.
Am i the only one that doesn't see a 4x10?
This is one reason for viewing the item late at night, while bored sh*tless. To pass the time, you read the explanatory text, instead of just looking at the pretty pictures.
 24.
I have noticed a disturbing tendoncy ( gettit?) for some basses to have a bit of wood taped in betwen the pickups effectively filling the gap completely - it has a name but it completely escapes me at the moment (too much hash when i was younger but lets not go there again!) Is it called a ramp? what's the deal with that. then? BB
Apparently, it's a bit like playing on the neck with your fingers. They bounce off the wood, which stops you "digging in" too hard, and allows you to play faster/without "clacky" noises from stretching your strings too far/and so on...........
 25. Get rid of the 660, it isn't a Bass. Simples! (squeak)
